looking back a year

Pulled out my little weight record calendar and I'm shocked.
A year ago today I was over 25 pounds heavier and fighting to lose anything.
lots of hormones issues etc. I could battle down around 185 but rebound up 10-12 pounds in a couple days. I switched to totally whole, clean, organic, pastured, low sugars, etc and managed to get healthier, but only in lower 180s by year end and just under 180 when I stumbled on juddd here. My issues make me a slower loser.
I have slowly been bouncing down for almost two months now and I can see myself getting in 160s by April. This is seriously miraculous and so easy. I feel healthier, have better energy, and everyone I see says I look significantly thinner even though I haven't shared what I am doing.
I'm so glad I kept a record of the last couple years.

How far have you come in a year?

-35.4 pounds for me!

I started 2011 pledging to myself that I would lose 1 pound per week for a year. I joined Weight Watchers on line in February 2011 and lost 10 pounds in a few months. But then one of my brothers got sick. I traveled to the other side of the country to spend time with him in the hospital and stayed with my big family (I have/had 5 brothers and 4 sisters so there are 10 of us) for a couple of weeks.

Bro started getting better, I flew back to the west coast. He took a turn for the worse and was gone within a few days. I flew back east again for the funeral. Then there were weddings, business travel vacations and week long house guests from out of state. And, by the time all that was over, I had gained 9 of the 10 pounds back! Ugh!

On August 1st I decided to try Dr. Dukan's LC diet and I lost 14 pounds in 10 days! Could not believe it. It kept coming off and by December I was down -28 pounds but it was slower and slower and then just stopped.

That's when I heard about JUDD and I started December 22, 2011. Early in February another brother passed away very suddenly and it was a shock. With that, a family reunion and more travel, I could not believe that I didn't gain any weight! Maybe a couple of pounds, but then it came right back off.

I think the JUDD magic had kicked in for sure!

So, March 1st I got back into a routine and back to my UD/DD rotations. Now I'm down 35.4 and you know what? Last year if you would have told me I was only going to lose 35 pounds in a year and not 52, I would have been soooooo disappointed!

but I'm not! I am thrilled! I feel so much better. I've lost a lot of inches. I've gone from a tight size 18 jeans to a loose size 12 and for my height of 5'9" with a large frame and broad shoulders, that's not bad right now!

I'm pretty happy and will be content to just keep on losing slowly, but losing for sure!

That's awesome B-lou! I'm so happy for you and wish I could say the same. Despite constant effort, I am exactly the same weight today as I was one year ago (I also keep the old calendars). But, I have come a long way in my striving for good health over just lost weight.

WOE: JUDDD FOR LIFE!
Start Date: Jan 2012. Name Kimberly
Well looking back a year ago.. i hit an all time high of 225.. for me, i gave up.. told my self that at 45 years old its just harder to lose weight the older ya get,, so i settled in for the long haul and accepted that awfull number. I had to have a hysterectomy in sept of 2011 and i heard how woman can gain from that and i got scared..I only wanted to be a healthy me and a smaller size to feel more confident.. never goin to be "skinny" i have huge bones! In Jan of 2012 my hubby said he wanted to try to diet so we began a journey together, eating the same foods and started to lose the weight. Today i am down 23 pounds from jan 1 and i finally can belive that with the right WOE(JUDDD) all my hopes and dreams for a smaller me are now possible.

Congratulations, B_lou. Your story is giving me the motivation to get started on this plan. LC'ing just isn't working for me anymore. Can't believe I've ridden out a 2-year stall before taking the plunge to JUDDD. But I honestly never heard of JUDDD until I came to LCF last July. Today is my first DD and my menu is planned out at 480 calories. I think I can DO this. Gonna try, at least. Thanks for the inspiration!

January 1, 2011 I weighed 205, wearing very tight 18's (20's would have fit proper).
Exactly one year ago, March 26, 2011, I weighed 163.2
Yesterday (haven't weighed yet today) I weighed 124 and I'm wearing 4's.

Didn't find JUDDD until this year and it's making maintenance much easier than what I was doing before and it's helped me drop from a 6 to a 4 without any real weight loss. Really wish I would have discovered it last year.

b_lou_who. You have made wonderful progress!!

In a year, I haven't lost as much as I wanted to in weight, but I have become 90% healthier. I was terribly sick this time last year with a raging intestinal disorder. I couldn't get out of bed, extreme fatigue, my hair was falling out, my face was gray, and my bloodwork was scary. I got some medical treatment and a nutritionist and am now feeling almost like myself. I am even riding my stationary bike for 30-50 minutes. My hair and skin are back to normal and I look human again.

I found JUDDD and started mid-January and in two months have lost 20 pounds. I absolutely could not budge my weight to go downward until JUDDD!!

Feeling healthier and finding a WOL I can live with also impacts my emotional state and I am both physically and emotionally healthier.

Ask me this again next January, and I hope to give you an absolutely astonishingly even better report. I hope my BP is down, my cholesterol is in a healthy range, great blood sugar, healthy intestines, and at goal or at least very close to goal.

How excellent!
I wanted encouragement and I am getting it.
I may be a slow loser but I feel fab and look better, and I too can live with this kind of eating for the rest of my life.

I checked back in my Journal.

March 2011 "134.8 this morning, too many glasses of wine and a lovely holiday in Germany. Just masses of food! I went as high as 138 last weekend so I have done pretty well this week."

I was 138 in July, and then squeezed down to 132 by doing VLC and giving up my beloved wine.

I went away for a 3 week holiday to Burma and while trying to stay LC, accidentally did Low Calorie. Came back 1 lb lighter which made me ponder. It was plain that I might lose weight following a different plan, (I had been on Atkins for 10 years).

I was 123.4 this morning, and I got on the scales after a shower this afternoon, unusual for me. 122.8.

It is so wonderful to be maintaining at least 2 and sometimes 5 lbs under my goal! Love JUDDD.

A year ago at this time, I was still packing on the pounds.

I started eating lowER carb in June and lost some weight. Went to vLC a month later, and did that until October 12. I lost 20# from start until then.

Went to JUDDD on October 12 and reached goal weight (145#) by the end of the month. Went into maintenance a month later, and have since dropped more weight without trying, while eating hundreds of calories more than the calculators say I "should".

The wild swing of calorie cycling works wonders.

I'm now maintaining below my original goal weight with ease - at a weight I didn't even know I could maintain. See, years ago when I would get down to 138# I could never maintain it for long without restricting my calories more than I could stand. Now I still can't believe I'm below 138# the majority of the time. And without any struggle.

I looked for last year's diary where I had recorded weight, but couldn't find it. I know that I fought a losing battle the entire year to maintain my weight doing LC I must have been at least 10 to 12 lbs heavier than I am now. I was unhappy with the ease with which I could gain weight and convinced that I had wrecked my metabolism. Fast forward a year, I am loving JUDDD and have renewed confidence in my ability to keep my weight in check - and all while eating the things I love and with the people close to me

A year ago, we were in the process of trying to sell our house. I didn't keep a food/weight diary, but was following Atkins and losing fairly well. I think I was at around 20 lbs lost in 3 months or so.

When we sold our house, we had to be out by the end of April. The offer we put on the new house fell through, and we ended up having a nightmare of a time finding someplace to live. We were in a hotel for 5 weeks! I think you all know where this is going . . . went OFF plan completely and gained everything back!

Flash forward to October and I was almost 280 lbs. The rest has been well-documented here. Lost a bit with Atkins, started going slower and slower, so I switched to JUDDD on 12/12/11 and have lost a total of 46 lbs so far, 36 with JUDDD.

No...I haven't...ever. The people on this board truly inspired me. I had never seen aything like it and it is because of people like Pat, Beeb, Sophie and Kissa that I even thought to dip my toe into this. I'm still amazed at this board every day...even the days I just read a few posts and don't have time to comment.

Thanks for this thread - I'm so inspired!

The last 25 years has been one struggle after another - I won't bore you with the details, but I have been known to ask myself "Why me?". Looks like, at last, good things are coming my way! I feel so excited to have found a way of eating that I truly can live with. I started JUDDD on Jan 2 and am 22lbs down despite a 2 week break. I have only counted calories on my UD once or twice and I don't really care about the scales. I'm nearly 2 dress sizes down - I was UK 18 and now I'm starting to get into 14s.

I have never seen as much success in releasing weight as I have on our JUDDD forum. It's the reason we are all so cheerful because we are attaining our goals with a plan that is liveable.

Not letting the scale dictate to you and seeing your dress size go down is a real victory!!
