Hm..What do you think?
Ive been doing JUDDD lc for 22days and have lost 10lbs
![]() ![]() ![]() This wk and another wk ago prior or so it took me two DD's to drop a lb..(Normally dropping a pound after every DD) I was wondering if I should update my calorie needs for UD's with my new body weight?? Right now its 2036 UD - 500 DD If I change it it will be 1980 UD - and 500 DD.. Just checking to see what you all have to say about this I am not to sure. I must say I LOVE JUDDD! It broke me from my stall lcing!![]()

As long as you're losing so wonderfully, I wouldn't mess with it at all. 10 lbs in 3 weeks is flippin' amazing!!!

You can if you want, but many do not, at least not until and unless their weight loss stalls.
Look at it this way...if you can lose weight eating 2000 calories every other day, why not eat 2000 calories? Why decrease it every couple of weeks as you lose more weight? Me, I'd rather eat more calories on my up days than less. As long as the weight loss continues. When/if it slows down, then I'll change it. But you can do either way. How's that for a vague answer? ![]() |

I would not do it yet if I were you. The rule of thumb is that if you are losing weight just fine, don't mess with the numbers!
![]() Pat has reminded us several times that there are some JUDD BUDDS who never had to lower their numbers at all even after losing quite a bit. ![]() I'm hoping Sophie and Beeb will pop in here because they are experts. My own experience is that I lowered mine to "speed things up" and it had the opposite effect. So, at the beginning of March I weighed 199 and decided to go back up from 1700 to 1900 on UDs and give myself a range of 350-690 on DDs. After one UD and one DD at the higher numbers, I dropped 3 pounds! I've lost 5.4 pounds since March 1st and I'm a really slow loser normally. So, this makes me happy. The idea is "if you CAN eat more, why would you want to eat less?" My advice is to only tweak your numbers if you stall. HTH! ![]()

Why mess with a good thing? Do you really think it's going to make the weight loss go faster? 9 out of 10 times it could backfire and slow you down even more. I NEVER re-calculated my calories, even after I got to goal and I did just fine!Last edited by Beeb; 03-22-2012 at 02:39 PM.. |

I'm glad you asked this question...I was wondering if you're supposed to recalculate your numbers as you lose....it's nice to know the answer is "probably not!"

Echoing the "if it ain't broke" advice....
You won't always drop weight after each DD. In fact, you may at some point gain a little after DDs. Or not. But just know that it won't always be the case that you lose after each DD or even every 2 DDs. Just getting that in so you won't start to worry or think things aren't working if losses aren't always lock-step. The body can only lose so much so fast safely, and then it needs a period to maintain and prepare itself for more loss. You're doing fabulous! ![]()

Another voice being added to *If it ain't broke... leave it be!*
If and when your weight loss really does slow down.. and I'm not just talking about a pause, which sometimes happens along the way, but a real sustained slow down of any loss, that's time to recalculate. Until then, ENJOY your JUDDDing! Woo Hoo! The problem with dropping calories when you don't really need to is that it tends to make your metabolism slow down too, and while that may be nice for the *aging slowly* movement, mostly we're just after the weight loss end of things. ![]()

I agree with leaving it as is as long as you are still losing.
And also wanted to add a different perspective on a 'stall'. Sometimes, after losing an amount of weight, our bodies need an adjustment period. After all, it takes shorter capillaries and veins to carry blood to a smaller body. Old cells that have shrunk need to be eliminated, blood volume need is smaller. All sorts of things are different in a smaller body vs a bigger one. And I think our body takes a pause at times to sort all this stuff out, and then it's ready to go on again. So even if weight loss slows a little, don't be too quick to tweak. Give your body time to adjust to it's new smaller size, and if after a couple weeks nothing is still happening, then it might be time to adjust downward.
