you folks who don't count coconut oil--losing well? I do think periodically about the satisfaction factor for fats--just curious

Another question about the coconut oil: if you don't count it, is there a point where you have had enough during the day that you do start to count it? For example, I have had probably a tbsp in my coffee so far. It's likely that I will have more before I eat dinner (DD) and then cook my meat in it. So I am thinking I might have up to 4 tbsp today. Would you disregard all of that?

hmmmmmmmm.....
supplements
dt. soda
SF gum
Spices, ( I count cocoa powder- sometimes I put 1/2 T in my morning coffee for a mocha)
after reading this I will no longer count lettuce. Sometimes if my dressings and toppings add up to 65- I'll round up to 70, and count that as the lettuce.
Oat Fiber
Gluc
Cooking Spray
coffee or tea
I use liquid splenda and liquid syrups, I believe they are zero

Personally, I'd count anything over 1T just as a matter of caution. If you're taking 4T, that's close to 500 calories and I think that would be a little more difficult for your body to use up quickly than 1-2tsp.
Even though it doesn't (supposedly) get stored as fat, it still has to be used as energy somewhere

Dottie, thanks. I was kinda thinking that at some point, I should probably pay attention, especially on a DD!

i know this is an old thread but it caught my attention & i'm interested to see if anyone else will add to the list if we bump this post up again..

things i dont count
mustard (ha..actually how i found this post..googled should i count mustard calories/carbs)
spices (which i probably should..since i use so much garlic/ onion powder, mediterranean & montreal chicken spice)
diet cokes
sugar free gum

i'm interested in how people measure out/count olive oil for cooking & marinating...

I don't count most spices, but some seasonings have 5 or more calories a serving and then I count.
I don't count black coffee or plain tea.
I don't count ez-sweetz.

I totally count pickels and lettus since sometimes that is all I eat on DD.
I rarely use CO, but ONLY on UD and take it's calories into consideration.

Ooh, interesting.. I haven't been counting spices (now wondering if I should be) or pickles, since I only eat a chunk and the jar says 0 for 3/4 of a pickle. Haven't eaten mustard since I started, but I think I wouldn't count it..

Several people upthread said that they did not count their supplements. I recently calculated the calories in mine and was shocked that they are 88 cal all together. Sheesh. So I am counting those now but also cutting out the 2 with the most calories on down days - SF calcium chews and SF fiber. I only take them bc they taste like candy anyway so I don't need those on DD.

I'm not a very strict counter overall though. I just don't know how to calculate the calories in a big pot of pasta sauce and then figure out the serving size. Whenever I try obsessing over it I end up eating a bunch of fake food with the calories written on the box. I would rather not do that. Fresh real foods are better and bound to have fewer calories.

midtownfg I'm not a crazy counter either and it hasn't slowed me down much (I've been averaging over 8 lbs a month for 3 months). One thing I am though is HONEST about what I eat and therefore I tend to pad my numbers so that I know I haven't gone over too much on an UD. I'm much more strict on a DD but not as much as some people here. Since all my foods are like lettuce, cucumber, shirataki noodles, etc I feel pretty comfortable eyeballing it.

I'll say I count"ish" my calories on everything even sf gum but I know I'm not completely accurate.

I didn't think coffee had calories. But I count the 15 calories from the SF chocolate syrup I put in it every morning.

I don't count:
SF gum
Tea
Black coffee
Vitamins or other supplements/medicines
Spices
Lettuce
Undecided about pickles
Mustard
Cooking spray

I too, do not count the little squirts of lemon juice I put in water or green tea.
I don't count Mio drops, but says it is 0 calories anyway.
The only suppliments I take are pterostilbene and resveratrol- the label doesn't list calories I don't think. How would one find out?
A few of my medications list weight gain as a side effect, but I think that has nothing to do with the actual little to no calories in the pill
