Ok, so I am here again with another question for the collective braintrust...

I will hit 19 days on JUDDD on Saturday. I am flying that day and will arrive Saturday night for a conference starting Sunday. I don't think fasting or mostly fasting Saturday will be much of an issue but here are my scheduled events for the following week (all of the eating will be in restaurants)...

Sunday brunch
Sunday happy hour
Sunday dinner
Monday dinner
Tuesday dinner
Wednesday breakfast
Wednesday happy hour
Thursday dinner
Friday dinner
Saturday dinner
Sunday breakfast

Gah! Not sure if I should try fasting for the things I can't get out of, low carb (which is my natural eating pattern in any case) through the whole thing, try to power through the DDs with plain lettuce at restaurants, or something that my tired brain is just not coming up with right now (it doesn't even fit into MUDDD). The other thing is that this is a professional conference (despite all the eating and drinking! ) so I DO need to be on my game and not suffering from a lot of brain fog. I also need to be social because a good portion of this is wheedling information out of people on a very casual basis (nothing illegal, just casual, iykwim).

Does anyone have any suggestions? I am sure I am overthinking this and should just take a little break from JUDDD but I am a stubborn cuss...

ETA: I can always just eat oysters and drink white wine. That worked out ok last week...

Ok, let's see if we can work this out:

Saturday - DD
Sunday brunch
Sunday happy hour
Sunday dinner - UD (makes sense w/ 3 events! Have fun!)
Monday dinner - DD - eat low carb for dinner - lean meat and a salad with minimal dressing. Eat nothing or very light for B and L.
Tuesday dinner - MD - eat a nice dinner out (still being somewhat strict, maybe 500 -600 cals?), but can eat a small B and L (200 cals each)
Wednesday breakfast - UD - makes sense because 2 events and probably some alcohol involved
Wednesday happy hour
Thursday dinner - DD - Again, very light to no B and L, but larger dinner
Friday dinner - UD
Saturday dinner - DD (Same as Thurs)
Sunday breakfast - Starts a nice UD

That's how I'd try to do it. I assume that DDs are at least 500 cals. I wouldn't be afraid to make them 5-600 for the trip.

I've noticed that diet soda with caffeine can really help me get through a DD with meetings that I need to be "present" for. I actually have lots of energy on DDs now, but the soda helps to keep away the hunger for me. Anything with bubbles might work the same.

Hi Shelby

I haven't read any other replies, so feel free to pick and choose cause someone is bound to have better ideas than me, lol, but for what it's worth....

You've been on JUDDD long enough that it will forgive you for a week off, if you want to go that route. That is, just eat what/when you want and don't worry about it. JUDDD willl take you back on board when you get back.

But another rather lenient way:

MONDAY = DD all day until the dinner. You can still eat all your DD calories from the time you get up until the dinner if you want, then eat what you want for the dinner, even up to all your UD calories. (I do this fairly often several days in a row when I'm not doing regular JUDDD or regular MUDDD... it's another type of IF in my book and seems to keep the sirtuins flowing...)
TUESDAY = repeat of Monday
THURS/FRI/SAT = repeat of Mon/Tues.

Or.... eat oysters and drink white wine.

Adding: I just read DDs post, and her schedule pretty much keeps you on the regular JUDDD rotation!
Started JUDDD 10/12/11 after LC.
MAINTENANCE since 11/12/11, & have lost more weight. I shake things up all the time with my version of Pirate Jenny's MUDDD, my "Fast 5" & other IF. ...low-moderate fat....and eating "healthy" foods 75+% of the time which lets me have real life and indulgences too I've reached my goals, improved my health & appearance, and enjoy my lifetime woe!

I think you have very good advice already.

I just dropped by to say, have a great conference! Whatever you eat, all will be well, JUDDD welcomes us back with a big smile and open arms whatever we do.

And, for heaven's sake if you enjoy anything as exotic and wonderful as paired oysters and white wine, TELL us about it! I love vicariously 'living' your menus!

Well, I THOUGHT I posted last night! Who knows where that message drifted off to in cyberspace!

Bless you ladies! After yesterday, I just couldn't look at another spreadsheet! (And that's probably what it would have taken to come up with either of the options above! ) Thanks so much!

Enjoy yourself and don't stress over the food. Most likely the days will balance themselves, and the following week you can get right back on track. Have some wine and oysters for me. Cheers!

Have a lovely and productive time! I'm sure you'll do fine and will find there hasn't been much, if any, damage when you get back.

Do your best and let JUDD magic take care of the rest!

I very much like the plans you have already been given. but if you slip up a bit, you will find it won't hurt you much.

I go on lots of business trips with DH and same thing. Lots of social events, happy hours, luncheons and fancy dinners. We went to a telecom conference in Florida in January after I had only been JUDDing a few weeks.

I did bring my travel body weight scale just to keep me real. But there was no way I could stick to the UD, DD rotation perfectly. When I had an UUAD (several) I just tried to reign myself in the next day. The biggest blow out social hour followed by a banquet was Wednesday night so I did more of a "Fast-5" like Sophie talked about on Tuesday and Wednesday.

(Tuesday night was the Luau at the Polynesian Resort and I ate a whole chocolate volcano dessert before I even realized it! It was placed in front of me and I was gonna have one bite and then...before I knew it...)

Amazingly, after 8 days at the Disney World Resort and all that wonderful food and wine, I only gained 1.8 pounds!!! I could NOT believe it.

If I would have done that when I was LCing and had eaten like that I would have been up 10 pounds and it would have taken me weeks to get it back off!

The 1.8 came off after 2 DD rotations when I got home. And, it took another .4 with it!

That's when I believed Dr. Johnson's SIRT1 gene research and knew I was experiencing the fat blocking/burning magic.

Enjoy yourself and whatever you do don't stress out. Have fun! As Pat always says, life is meant to be enjoyed. Food and spending time with people should be enjoyable.
