Dont let the scale get you down!!

I have seen alot of posts about the scales and the up and down of it. Yes it can be frustrating, but dont let it be!

Do yourself a favor and pull out the tape measure and keep a journal! I say this because of my own achievement. Let me explain:

I have done atkins off and on for years. I see the scale move but have never had that whoo hoo moment when I realized my clothes fit me amazingly til atleast a month or so later. I really need/want JUDDD to work , so I took a different approach. I bought my journal, I write in it everyday. I write what I ate, how much I weigh, the calorie count, my exercise for the day and so on. I also did the tape measure thing. In the back of my journal, I keep track of my calf, thigh, butt, waist, boobs, arms, etc measurements.

From the begining I decided that only my weight on Saturdays will count, and my measurements on Sunday would count. Since I started JUDDD mid-week todays counted.

4 days into JUDDD and my:

calves are down 1/4 of an inch
thighs are the same
butt is down 1 1/4 inch
waist is down 2 1/2 inches
boobs are still way to small (lol!)
arms are down 3/4 of an inch

4 DAYS!!!!! I havent seen the scale go down much! But my tape measurer is move the right way! did I say 4 days?

I am excited to think what will be at the end of the 14 day trial! I decided after my first UD and DD, that I was hooked either way!

So please dont hold the scale in such high reguards, the scale might not be moving how we like but I bet your still losing inches somewhere!!!

Awesome, Katie! Congrats and KUTGW!

The scale is fickle, but measurements and how your clothes look and fit means so much more! Nobody sees your scale number but you. We can't let that number dictate our mood for the day - we have to look at the big picture: JUDDD's fat burning power with muscle sparing TLC will make all the difference in how we look through the weight-loss process, and what we look like at the end when we reach maintenance!

Congratulations Katie! What wonderful news!

I think it is helps to remember that 'up' bounce means UD was successful - you are at risk of sliding into starvation mode. And, of course, as long as the ball eventually bounces to the bottom of the stairs, it does not matter how it bounced on the way down (thank you Pat).

Being a newbie.. the "almighty" scale has always been the indicator as to how well we do.. i know now.. that its not the case.. when i my scale bounced up after a down day.. i freaked..i did not take into account.. higher sodium foods, lack of water drank or the most important part.. i slipped into my husbands pants which are a 36 and i was able to put them on AND button them!!! down from a 42 inch waist for me! This was the first time i actually was able to put on his pants.. ( i know.. its not a tape measure) lmao.. but it worked for me!!! (true story lol)

sterling- I know what you mean about using pants! I had pants I bought smaller on purpose when I was on Atkins last year. I tried those things on once a week and never ever did fit into them right. I mean I got them on and pulled up, but all the holding my breath, sucking in my gut and laying on the bed never got them zipped!

I am so excited to think that maybe this weekend those jeans will zip! I am gonna wait til saturday to try! I tell you if I can zip them, I am so posting a picture!!! Well maybe, I am camera shy, but you all will know! I wont even have to post, you all will hear me screaming "YES!!" lol!!!!

Your posts reminded me of a thread Jodi started a while back: Anyone Else Have a Certain Item Of Clothing Connected To Their Weight Loss/Gain?

Feel free to post about your DH's pants or your jeans when you want! Oh and pics are always nice!
