WOE: JUDDD FOR LIFE!
Start Date: Jan 2012. Name Kimberly
Stayed the same after DD ?

Well ya know how ya gain after the up day.. that put me to 205.8 that was the day before yesterday.. today hopping on after a DD of 410 cal i did not lose any! still at 205.8 I know the scale she bounces and i am trying not to let it get to me but.... it did Going to be hard not to let this get in the way of making sure i eat my up day number today of 1900 cals.. Kind of afraid that something is wrong... i will keep the faith and not quit.. its not an option... but i changed 2 things on my DD yesterday... 1 i dint drink all my water...no way near it.. and the second thing was my food choices.. normally i choose only protein to eat in the form of chicken breast and i dint eat that yesterday .. intead i had a flat out wrap with a hunters sausage and cream cheese in it... is it possible that the food change was the problem or was it lack of water?? Any ideas here?

Well, I just went up 3 pounds following an UD but it will be gone in a day or two. Water, water, water. Who knows how anyone's body reacts to a certain food or an ingredient in a food. We are all so so different.
PATIENCE is the key to JUDDD. In my humble opinion of course.

I think you're doing great! I would strongly discourage you from early tweaking. If it helps at all, when I stay the same weight for 2 or 3 days, it is usually followed by a little whoosh. I think others here have experienced the same thing. HTH.

I just gained 2.2 pounds after a 450 DD. I know it is not possible to gain that much in fat overnight. I am sick, and TOM due today or tomorrow. Hate seeing the number up but it will disappear. Yours will too.

It definitely does happen with JUDDD. It was probably both of the things you said. You didnt have enough water and it sounds like what you ate probably had more salt than normal so with the extra salt and then not drinking enough water you held some water. Its normal with us girls but definitely dont worry about that. I used to let the scale bounces get to me too but i dont near as much anymore. I had a major calories and carbs yesterday and not enough water because we were out most of the day doing fun things for st pattys day and i am up 5lbs today. When i first saw the number you get that panicky feeling for a minute but its gone now. I know it will be gone in a couple DD's. JUDDD is very forgiving. Today im looking forward to great lazy DD.
Just keep working it!!!

WOE: Whatever plan keeps me around 150 lbs!
It's a water issue for sure if you ate higher sodium and didn't get in all your water.

I'm one who often gains after a DD, loses after an UD, maintains for several days, then whoosh! Honestly, I'm all over the map, but still the overall trend is downward. Trust yourself and JUDDD. You're doing great, so don't worry if there's a "maintain" day or even a gain. It's not FAT.

I only weighed once a week for the first 6 weeks on JUDDD. If I had weighed every day, I doubt I would have stuck with it. It was only after seeing the downward trend week after week (with a GAIN even in my third week), that I finally trusted the WOE enough to start weighing daily.

Honestly, at this point, it's almost a clinical response when I see my weight. I just shrug my shoulders, write it down, and go about my day. I keep a spreadsheet with my daily weight, calories consumed, exercise (if any--I'm pretty bad about that), daily loss or gain, weekly loss or gain, weekly average, etc., etc., etc. I'm pretty OCD, so this is just how I roll. The point is, I can look back on my spreadsheet, as Yam-Yam does with her graph, and see trends and averages and it's always going downward, even when it goes upward for a few days.

My scale died a few days ago. I bought a new scale yesterday and weighed this morning. I'm up almost a whole pound from 3 days ago! But I'm not stressed. I KNOW it's the new scale, not me. And even if it IS me, and the scale is perfectly synced to my old one, I'm not the least bit concerned because I know I've been faithful to my WOE.

I hope this helps a bit. It's just my experience, but I see it over and over with others. Once you stop worrying about the scale, your life becomes so much nicer. (Of course, worrying about the NUMBER on the scale can't be the same as obsessing about weighing--I sure was lost without a scale for two days! )

and there will be times when you lose after an UD!!! Have no fear - it could have been something you ate days before also! You'll find that after another UD and DD it will most probably be gone!!! (and some more with it!!)

I found the same as Dawn replied. I gain from DD's also and it is mostly the effect of the day before my DD. I don't stress because I can count on it disappearing as long as I keep JUDDDing.
I think you are going to see a big whoosh soon and you are going to be back on here celebrating!!!

"The scale, she bounces" ... like an unevenly filled rubber ball.

As everyone said, No failure here. No reason to drop your UD calories in panic. No reason to sob, "The magic stopped!"

Congratulations, you now know to check salt content on prepared foods and drink like a fish! Another step forward into successful weight loss and sustainable maintenance!

Strange things sometimes happen. Each one offers you a chance to learn more about how the wonderful, unique, individual that is YOU.

I hope that breakfast burrito was delicious!

Yes, the scale can be fickle. All sorts of things effect the scale number. Nobody else is going to see that number though. How you look and feel in clothes is a more consistent gauge.

I hardly ever lose after a DD, usually after a wild "omg I ate so much!" UD I do lose lol.

I am finding that I am like Keira's Mom, that weighing has become so much LESS of a deal on JUDDD and I tend to take it much more like the number it is than the emotional way I used to view the scales. I am a daily weigher, but I most pay attention to the one day a week where I am watching my chart...and it's going down! So this other stuff is just INTERESTING, but I know I'm heading downward!!

That salt will get you. I have some 100 calorie packs of pringles and popcorn that I will eat sometimes when I am wanting salty stuff, and it will play scale tricks with you.

It is psychologically hard to see those numbers go up even when you KNOW it isn't fat. Don't forget to concentrate on the other benefits you will see. I frequently visit the non-scale victories thread to read about the other successes we can look forward to when the scale doesn't appear to be cooperating.

Non-Scale Victories- please list them

And I just read your post where you DID see a non-scale victory.

"i tryed on my sweater that is snugg to see how it looks today and my roll is disappearing before my eyes.. wont be long i will be able to wear it with out the muffin top. i can see how this plan works when i look else where besides the scale."

Take your measurements and watch your inches go down. When the scale is bouncing, the tape measure is often showing great progress. Focus in on some of the non-scale victories (please add to the thread because I thrive on reading those posts) and you will get where you want to go.

We do have a great group here and what everyone has says is so true.
I am also very ocd about weighing and weigh everyday no matter what. I used to dread it sometimes because i would know it would be up or i would let it totally stress me out and now i dont anymore. Its like im so confident in the fact that it will be gone with a couple good DD's there is no reason to stress anymore. What i saw on the scale today would normally have me freaking out and have me in a horrible mood all day but im not even worried. I love that. I was up 5lbs from all the calories and carbs i ate yesterday and because i didnt drink enough water bcause i was out most of the day and i had alcohol!!! It was a wonderful fun day and im not beating myself up over it. It was great, it only happens once in awhile and i know JUDDD will have my back!!! that is the most important thing of all!!! Im drinking my water today like a fish and slowly deflating!!!! LOL

YOU GOT TO GIVE IT A CHANCE!! I get so frustrated when I read these kinds of post, please forgive me if I sound a little snarky here, never mean it that way at all, BUT you have only been JUDDDing a very short time and our bodies need to adjust now and then to the weight loss it is going through. '

PLUS, you may not have lost on THIS DD because a zillion different factors; water, salt, lack of sleep, stress, etc. and the list goes on and on! I have gained after a DD, several times, and I KNOW this happens so I do NOT stress about it!

And neither should you!

Thanks everyone for this post. I've been doing the JUDDD for a week. I was down after an up day and up after a down day. LOL. Day to day it doesn't matter, but what matters is after a month am I 8 lbs less? That is my goal. If it is more I am okay with that. If it is less I might re-evaluate...but as long as I am losing. But I appreciate this thread because it validates my feelings.
