Words Of Wisdom!!

There are so many wonderful "WORDS OF WISDOM" from our JUDDD BUDDDs so I thought starting a thread with the ones that stick out for us, in our minds, would be a great thing for Newbie and Oldies alike. After all, we can never get too many wise words!

I'll start with a couple and PLEASE post the ones that stick out in your mind!

Yum-Yum....It's so darn tempting to try lowering UD calories or try doing several fasting days in a row in the beginning because we don't yet trust this woe. Honestly, I believe that those of us who have fought the good fight with our weight for a long time can develop a "deprivation mentality".

It might take a while of rotation days and slowly adding tasty foods back in to realize that yes, this is a healthy plan. And, yes, it will work!

Trust the process and keep reading the posts! Make sure you pop in right away if you are having struggles or doubts. I sure did and got all the answers and encouragement that set me on the right path.

So Happy....No holiday, birthday or special occasion EVER falls on a DD, I make sure of that!

Word of wisdom: Do not lose your sense of humor!!! When I saw someone write "remember, all gains are water; all losses are fat" I

I've seen other boards where people get sooooooo grumpy, defensive and judgemental! Don't we get enough of that already from the world? from our own negative self talk? from the nightly news??????

Keep a light touch, all you Sweeties. You can rest in the fact that you have a WOE that will not punish you but allow you to en-JOY. (word means wrapped up in JOY!! Gotta love that!!!)

Now, let's do this!

Beeb: Great idea you had for this thread!!! Thanks!

You didn't mess up the rest of your life if you blew through your calorie limits for the day, you just ate too much ONE DAY. You don't need to punish yourself with extra restrictions or 3 hours of zumba. Get back on plan tomorrow and let it go.

I have been diligently eating all my calories every day now for a little over a week, and I have lost 2 more pounds, for a total of 20.

Lessons to be learned from this little escapade:
  • Pay attention to your calories
  • Pay attention to the "qualifications" of those giving advice
  • If the advice you've been given doesn't "feel" right, do some investigation
  • Understand that if you're going to let your calories go too low on the UDs, there won't be any "magic" and you might as well be doing any old low-cal diet

It's like when you're low-carbing- they say if you don't pay attention, you can become a victim of "carb-creep" which is when your diet slowly, slowly becomes filled with carbs that you don't even realize you're eating. I had done something similar with the calories, but in the opposite direction. I had started out eating enough calories, then slowly dropped the calorie count down, down, down until my UDs were at 1500 and DDs were at 0.

I guess the point I was trying to make was not that I had stopped losing, but that I made a conscious effort to add 2500 calories per week, and I'm still losing. The whole idea behind JUDDD is to eat as many calories as you can (while still losing) every other day, and fast every other day, to keep the metabolism jumping. 750 calories a day isn't enough to make your metabolism hiccup, let alone jump!!

So, here is my most current chart- the red line is the day that I started adding calories. As you can see, it didn't make much of a difference. And if I can still lose while eating 2500 extra calories a week, then why shouldn't I? It's only going to make my maintenance more comfortable (I would imagine). The other thing is- if I need to cut calories in a month or three or six, then I have room to cut. If I'm at a bare-bones calorie level, what the heck do I do from there??

I can't believe I get to use this one!

And, to quote Cindy:
