I made the switch!

From Atkins to JUDD - starting today. Finally got the nerve to do it.

I stopped doing Atkins about 3 weeks ago and didn't follow any plan... just ate whatever and whenever. I have put on 8lbs from my low of 167.

I am 43 years old, now weigh 175, am 5'3".

My calories on UD should be 1800 and my DD calories should be 500.

Today is my first up day. I so want this to work. I'm ready to stop the yo yo dieting and the constant struggle in my head about losing weight. Losing weight has consumed my thoughts for years now and I'm ready to let it go and stick with a plan that I know I can do forever. I have such high hopes!!

My first goal is to get down to my recent low weight of 167.

I'm diving in head first... wish me luck!!

Welcome to JUDDD. I am one of the slower losers but I started January 8 and have lost 14 pounds so I am very happy. AND that is with eating all of favorite foods on my UD's. Well worth the slow loss to be able to enjoy "normal" food again with oatmeal, sweet potatoes, bananas, etc.
ENJOY your journey and remember that PATIENCE is the key along with careful tracking of UD and DD numbers. I use ****** just because I have used it for years but there are many other calorie tracking programs.

Welcome to the family Thurms!! I also came across Beeb's post on the LC boards, came over to take a look see, read the threads, started with an UD the very next day, and have not looked back!! I'm still a newbie, going on one week of this WOE, and I feel great, my body has adapted to this WOE, and I am so happy to be over here - I have yet to see where a question has gone unanswered, everyone is so kind and supportive, and I feel right at home!! Get ready, your life is about to change -- for the better!! Again, welcome!!

Hi Thurms and welcome

I am new as well (four days in), but it has been great so far! You will love the UDs for their yummy deliciousness and appreciate the losses that the DDs bring!

Good luck!

. I'm so flattered, thank you so much!!

I think, "what would help me to "get it" and then I just put it into words that I would understand. I have a business where I deal with lots of clients, who are usually trying to seek answers to questions that them. I just point out the obvious, plain and simple, when a person can't seem to "see the forest for the trees" or get motivated to seek the answers themselves, and then the light bulb goes off over their heads and they "get it". They have always "had it", just needed a little nudge to bring it to the surface. I'm the "little nudge" (or annoyance, at times ) that gets their mind working, that's all!

I started a week and one day ago, also because of Beeb's post. I just wanted to say don't get discouraged if after your first week you don't loose (like me). It took me a few days to get my UD calories under control and the DD calories low enough. I ended my first week at the same weight I started. But I'm down 2lbs today after an UD!

Welcome to the group. Everyone here is very supportive and helpful.

I'm pretty much in maintenance and haven't lost any *new* weight since starting in Feb. but I have lost some inches and my scale bounces a lot less than it used to. And I'm eating things I couldn't eat before without paying a price.
