New and a few questions please
![]() I just finished 2 weeks of Atkins induction after being out of the loop for like 6 years. But Ive done it before very successfully and really have a solid grip on Low Carbing. I lost 11 pounds in the two weeks and totally lost my appetite so I started my first day of JUDDD on an UD, since yesterday I ate under 700 calories. Question 1. My calculated stats are @ Normal calories 3569 and my DD calories are 714...... I feel I really ate ALOT today ( low carb ) and only came to 1700 calories....do I NEED to get my calories that high? ![]() Question 2. Since this will be my induction phase of JUDDD everything Ive read says to drink shakes on DD...but is this JUST so you know to stay within your DD calories intake, cuz I would rather eat cottage cheese or something then drink a shake, knowing I can easily stay under 500 calories. I have Designer Whey I can make shakes with but they usually cause cravings for me and since I have pretty much conquered my cravings now I would hate to restart them. I think that's all the questions I have for now.... thanks. |

If you wouldn't mind telling me how tall you are and appx age, I can check it out. The UD calories look high to me.
You do not have to have shakes at all. No. No. I know what you mean because they do not fill me up. I never have them on DDs. Only to up my protein on UDs. You can certainly eat regular food. Dr. J. says in the book the only reason he recommends them is because some people are not familiar with counting calories. Since the shakes have the calories on the label, it's easy to stick to the DD number. Cute, cute picture by the way!![]()

For 20% WL mode, I your numbers are 415/2076
Did you go to the Dr. Johnson's website? That's where you can get the most accurate info IMHO. Here is the link. Just toggle down on the page that shows up. http://www.johnsonupdaydowndaydiet.c...-the-diet.html Last edited by Yam-Yam; 03-14-2012 at 08:46 PM.. |

There are pull down menus so you can choose 20%, 25%, 35% all the way up to 45% and still be in WLM.
It is always suggested here that on the exercise level pull down menu, choose "little to no exercise" because it works best that way in the beginning. Keep in mind, during the first 2 weeks you can eat up to 500 calories on a DD (some even start at 600 or so and work their way down as time goes on because some find it hard to go as low as 500). You said you are comfortable w/ 500 though, so if I were you, that's where I would start. Yes, on UDs you should eat up to your calorie limit, but not over. It's important to EAT on UDs so that your metabolism will be revved up, your body will be nourished and you will be ready for another DD. |

the important thing about DDs (and Dr. J talks about this in the book) is that research shows a unique gene called SIRT1 is activated and produces a one of a kind protein. Over the course of several weeks as you do the DD rotations, the gene works to build up this protein (I've heard it called an enzyme as well) in your body. Once activated it begins to stop extra calories from being burned as fat and causes the body to burn up stored fat.

Well, just hang around here on the JUDD forum. Everyone is so helpful and friendly. If you have questions about anything at all JUDD related, someone knowledgeable will answer.
![]() The day I started JUDD I ordered Dr. Johnson's book on Amazon.com and it arrived about a week later. I'm so glad I bought it. Lots of good information. When I understand why something works, I'm more motivated to stick with it. Good luck on your JUDD journey! Do take some time to read lots of the threads on this forum. You will be glad you did! ![]() |

Welcome to JUDDD. It does work. I am probably one of the slower losers but I am still losing so it is all good. PLUS I can eat all the good things I could not for many years following LC. Not that you want to but you can. Just continue the UD and DD rotation with a careful eye on the numbers and it will work.

Babykinz .. come back! Don't let Yam-Yam scare you away!!
![]() I just began JUDDD (again) and am going to begin with 500-700 calories on a DD, staying low carb, just to give me some "mental leeway". Yesterday was my first DD and I ended up at just a little over 500. But it was nice knowing I could go up a bit. As a side note, I was down almost 3 lbs., although I know that'll bounce. |

Sure, there will most likely be a bounce, but don't you just LOVE seeing 3 whole pounds down!!!! ![]() ![]() And the great thing is, if you are keeping a weight chart, you will see that soon you will hit that new low again and then go below it! It's so motivating. Congrats on a good DD, a great plan and mental attitude, and a 3 pound loss!!!![]() ![]() |
