For those that did/do shakes on DDs

What brand(s) do you like and how many did you drink throughout the day?

I used shakes on my induction period but now I use shakes on DD's only when I am away from home such as a craft or livestock show.
I am currently using Atkins shakes since I can get them at Wal-Mart easily. They are 160 calories. If I make a shake at home and take it I use whey protein powder and those are only 120 calories. I just ordered some Quest bars so I would have some to take to an overnight show I am going to in April. Thought they would be easy to carry and keep me on track.
There is another brand of shakes that someone mentioned recently that are supposed to be good but my local Wal-Mart did not have them. I will look again as my store is small.
I tried to use 2 of the 120 shakes and one Atkins shakes for DD's which would be 400 calories. Sipping them through the day worked for me.

EAS AdvantEdge Carb Control shakes are great (dark chocolate esp)... only 2 carbs and 110 calories. They are not as "thick" as Atkins ones, but a really good alternative!

I was searching on amazon for ones that are around 100 calories.

Skeeter recommended a brand of protein powder I was using for a while that I got at Walmart & it was really good. I'm going to ask her what brand it was and see if I make them with almond milk (sf) what the calories will be.

Thanks Adi!

Oh I used to love those EAS shakes.

BTW my 13 yo son wants to be lighter (he's chunky) so if this works for me, he wants to try it too.

I love the Atkins shakes. I get mine at BJ's, along with bars. I noticed this week that my Walmart has Atkins shakes on special with a 6 pack for the price of a 4 pack. I order my protein powder, mix it with some SF almond milk and SF syrup (caramel from the dollar store) in a blender bottle. I generally make them the night before so it's really cold in the morning.

I like the Pure Protein brand bottled shakes. You can get them w/23 grams protein,or a higher amount - maybe 36? Not exactly sure. I get them at Walmart and they only have the 23 gram/bottle ones. I prefer the vanilla at 110 cals. - not crazy about the chocolate and the strawberry tasted awful to me. They come in packs of 4 and average about $2 each. I used them the first couple weeks of down days, drinking 2 or 3 per day.

I use the EAS Carb control chocolate ones, I usually have them every day for breakfast.. have done that for years now. They are 110 calories. I have a ninja so add ice, couple tsp instant coffee granules, eas and blend up, put in travel mug and off to work I go. Its like a blended cold mocha coffee.

I make my own from Designer Whey and almond milk. I have both the Vanilla and Chocolate flavors of DW, then I add splashes of Torani syrup to further flavor them. Like a bit of English Toffee flavor in a vanilla shake.

I LOVE 100% whey cookies and cream from GNC (120 cals)
Also have isopure Vanilla (not sure about cals)
And GNC 100% whey chocolate caramel (it's ok 120 cals)
Just bought lean shake chocolate peanut butter (200 cals) haven't tried this one yet.
good thing about GNC is if you don't like it you can exchange it with your reciept and try a different kind or get your money back.

I think I already told you, but I'll add my stuff to this thread too.

-Premier Nutrition vanilla shakes
-Almond milk w/ 1 scoop designer whey (or swanson's protein powder when I have it) and 2 tbl of a davinci syrup. Raspberry makes it taste like the milk left over from Trix. I like it.

Chocolate Muscle Milk Light is 100 calories and 15 grams of protein. I don't do shakes very often, but I keep some in the fridge because it comes in a juice box with a straw taped to it. Very convenient.

Wheybolic Whey Isolate protein powder shake mix is 20 grams of protein and 90 calories for one scoop. I love the vanilla and you can just stir it in water or put it in a mason jar with ice and shake it. It dissolves really easily.

I alternate between Nectar Sweets Just Desserts and Jay Robb.
The chocolate Nectar Sweets I pair with Almond Breeze. YUM (120 cal with almond milk)
The Jay Robb chocolate I add 1/8 tsp instant coffee and 1 Splenda.
The Jay Robb Tropical Dreamsicle and Pina Colada, I drink as is, they're great.
Add 1/2 tsp Glucomannan powder for a pudding-like texture

I drink 1 or 2 per DD.

EAS shakes here too because they are cheap. The pure protein vanilla are wonderful but they are expensive. I have unflavored protein powder that's 110 cals and 24 grams protein but once I add almond milk or whatever it adds more cals so I end up using it for OMMs. I put the eas in the bullet with some coffee and gluc and make it really thick.

Thank you. I would have to order online since I am not anywhere near a GNC of Vitamin Shoppe. Well 60 miles from one of each but not very convenient.
Thanks again.

Are the Dreamsicle and Pina Colada "RTD" or powder? I think I'd love to try the dreamsicle kind.

Another great snack is the ostrim beef sticks. They are made with ostrich meat and are only 80 calories with 14 g of protein. I eat them for breakfast some mornings and they really keep the hunger away. I purchased them at the Vitamin Store and just bought 5 boxes on Amazon.

I bought CarbThin Zerocarb Egg Protein Shake Mix from Netrition when I was doing Atkins. I am gonna use it for DD's because I dont want to waste it. Its only 88 calories when mixed with water. I got it in vanilla and I found adding either a little coconut milk or banana extract makes it taste pretty good! It smells like birthday cake, but it sure doesnt taste like it lol!!

You're welcome. Jay's site also sells 1 serving packets so you can try them before buying a bigger containers. I've seen the smaller packets in one of those stores too, but can't remember which one.
