The only thing I hate about counting calories

Is having to totally cook up dinner for UD the night before to figure out the serving size and calories. I made a big pot of chicken alfredo for tomorrow night (and it is really good. I've made it before). I figured up the total calories for the whole pot, but I wanted to know how many servings and the calories what would be in the serving. I measured out 10 cups at 325 calories for a cup. Kind of high but at least I know now. Makes it easier to plan out my meals and calories for the day. Does anyone else do this or am I obsessing too much about calories? I haven't had a loss in almost 3 months and I'm kinda desperate.

Newbie here, so I am lacking experience, but I am pretty certain that if you are not losing in 3 months, you must be at "maintenance level" caloriewise???

Have you tried to move your UD cals down to see how that goes?

Okay, if you have reduced, I am not sure why the reason for the stall. 3 months does seem too long in my mind. Are you really close to goal?

Your alfredo sounds amazing btw! I log all of my foods on ******, so I already have my UD planned to a "T" before they get here.
I wish I had a good solution for you!

I use Fat Secret and create recipes all the time. When I do this I "guessamate" the servings and then when I really divide it up I get to see just how many there are and put that in as a final count in the new recipe.

I also can see how I can count out some calories by doing a cut on ingredient measure here or there, or replace with something lower calorie.

Now, as far as your stall and yes, to me 3 months is a stall I think you may need to re-do your calorie numbers because I too believe you are eating maintenance numbers and not weight loss numbers.

What are you DD/UD calories, if you don't mind? Maybe we all can help!

The thing I hate about counting calories is that there are different calorie counts posted sometimes! Frustrating!

Demonica - 325 per cup on an UD doesn't sound like that much! I'd probabaly eat 2 cups - but then I have 2100 cals to eat!

To answer your question - no I don't even think about what I'm going to eat until the UD - unless DH has specifically requested something out for dinner - like a Pizza. Then I work out what that will be caloriewise so that I dont' eat too much else throughout the day.

What are your calorie levels (and details that helped you reach them). Then perhaps we can offer further advice - if you want it!!

One reason I switched from ****** to ************ is because it's easier to log recipes on ***, and I cook from scratch pretty much exclusively. I estimate what I think the serving size is, and then adjust it after the fact if I was off. (realizing that my dh and 2 teen boys easily eat 2-3 times what I do, LOL).

Sounds like something needs tweaking in your numbers for sure. Post your stats and what you've been doing and our veterans can help you tweak. Are you eating all carbs/grains/sugars on your UD's or following some other eating plan?

I am new to tracking but I do recipes and such from scratch and such and I really like ************. Only thing I would like on there is a recipe that you log in there and be able to see the ingredients. Such as put in grilled cheese and ham sandwich.. you get count, but did they use white or wheat, what kind of cheese, how much ham? But I usually tend to count on the high side and feel ok with that.
