I wish i could help.. but hopfully some more experienced JUDDERS will chime in soon.. hang in there. dont give up just yet.. from what i hear, if you came from a low carb style and eat those carbs now a gain is expected but i "hear" its really water and not to worry .. i know thats hard to not do.. that why i have not chose to eat my reg carbs yet.. i was afraid of what the scale would do.. so i keep eating a moderate amount of carbs like always. and just look at pasta and such as my Kriptonite.. and avoid it like the plague.. IMO nothing tastes as good as "thin" feels.. good luck and hang in there

I can guarantee that whoever can help you with this (I'm not very good), will want to know your stats (height, weight, and age) and what numbers you are currently using for JUDDD. Post those so that the next JUDDD "guru" who comes in here to try to help will have that info so they can help you figure out what's going on.
Hang in there!!

Sorry you are frustrated. Hang in there. How much have you lost since you started in February?

The reason I ask is I think this could be a number of things and all of them will be resolved in time.

I just looked back at your stats on the daily weigh in thread. Noticed that the day before yesterday you wrote "way too many carbs". If you have been careful about carbs, which most of us former LCer's are because it's a habit! -- and then you have a big carby day, remember, it's NOT FAT.

If you have ever read Dr Dukan's book, he talks about how eating high volume foods like veggies, fruits, (foods containing a lot of water) and whole grains causes the body to hold on to water briefly.

It's a good thing, actually!! Your tissues are absorbing the much needed nutrients from those foods. It's like our bodies are sucking up the water from the fruits and veggies and then the fiber in the whole grains is filling up with it like a sponge. When your body gets all the good vitamins and minerals it needs, it will use the fiber and fluid to clean out your intestines and your kidneys will flush out any toxins and fat cells your body does not need for energy. Then the scale will drop again.

For some of us, eating salt is a very different thing. Because of a tendency towards dehydration, when we eat salty foods our bodies hang on to every drop of water for a while "just in case we need it" until we consume enough protein and water to calm the body down. Then it can release it.

Hormones have a whacky effect on the scale and that's a tale most women can tell! Another thing is how long it's been since you have eliminated waste and how much. Amazing the difference that can make in the scale sometimes, but IT"S NOT FAT!

If your clothes are fitting ok and inches are going down, you are losing fat and the scale will catch up.

Be patient. I have heard people say that a lot! JUDD is not necessarily a super fast WL plan. But it will work, given time and persistence.

Pull back on carbs or switch from eating simple carbs to complex carbs and see if that helps.

IMO this all is a learning curve. We are becoming students of our bodies.

We are here for you! I'm sure some wiser people than me will chime in to give you advice and encouragement!!

If you Google "Why the scale lies" or similar topics, you will find lots of good articles.

Here is a link to one:

Why The Scale Lies...

Oh, and remember, Dr. J says that this woe burns fat and preserves or builds muscle. Could it be that your body is working on manufacturing some muscle?

One last thought: Noticed from your stats you have lost an amazing amount of weight! Congratulations! Sometimes our bodies need to "rest" at a certain weight before giving up more. I mentioned Dukan's book before because there is a wealth of info there about the time frame in which our bodies will "rebel" after we have lost a certain amount. He actually has a time frame for how many days of maintainance you need for every pound lost in order to keep it off. So, if your body is rebelling and that's the problem, just show it who is boss by continuing to stick to your plan, choose healthy foods, and don't stress out! Stress will fight against your efforts, too.

So will lack of sleep! Are you sleeping OK? that's when your body produces Leptin.

Okay--so when I ran your numbers in the JUDDD calculator w/little or no exercise and 30% losing rate--it's 1571/471. So, if you are sticking close to those numbers, then I agree w/Yam-Yam that it may just be water or muscle and you may have to be patient. Also, is your weight just going up? Or is the scale bouncing up and down?
I'm sure some others will come in here and give you more advice.

So why not do JUDDD AND LC? Many do it with great success. JUDDD let's us eat ANYWAY WE WANT so you don't have to eat carbs if you don't want to.

It's a simple WOE, really. No food restrictions unless YOU want them.

I know JUDDD can be done with LC but I was hoping to be one of the lucky people here that could add back the carbs and still lose weight. Im not going to give up! I have come way to far to turn around now. Maybe just change up a few things and see how that works. Thanks for your input.

Rhonda: I saw on the daily weigh in thread that you had a nice drop today! Congratulations!

Do you think carbs make you bloated? Or, maybe do they cause cravings so it's hard to stick to UD calorie ceiling?

I also came here from LC'ing and when I have a real carby day the scale goes up and then sometimes I notice eating carbs makes me crave, crave, crave even the next day.

Someone else said she just pulls back on the carbs for a few days and the cravings go away. So, that's what I've been doing and it works for me!

Rhonda, sorry I didn't see this yesterday, I was travelling and didn't get my time on here.

The scale is a bouncing ball on JUDDD as you have seen, and experienced. It is hard to look at higher numbers when we want to see them go down, down, down.

Hang in there and keep trying the foods you want to eat. I allow myself all carbs now, and would suggest that you don't give up trying them too quickly.

But as Beeb says, you could still do JUDDD and LC... but I would keep slipping in some carbs and see how things go.

Yam-Yam, good links here, I hadn't seen a couple of them myself.

Please don't give up and give it a chance to really work and give your body time to adjust. I came from 7 years of lowcarb and lost over 100 lbs eating lowcarb but my body started changing and I started leasing with things and started gaining some. Then I found juddd. It has been wonderful finally. It took my body a good few months to really adjust. At first I gained a little then I would taper off the carbs a little then add a little more and gain and then lose. I got frustrated a few times but kept coming here and kept with it. Now I am eating more carbs than I have in years and I'm loving this. I'm healthy and I feel great. Don't give up. You may have to taper off a little a couple days then add again. Go slow. I went up to 50 then about 75 then down then up...lol. now I'm eating 100 to 200 carbs on UDs and I only fluctuate between 143 and 146, which is great for me. I was fluctuating 5 or 6 lbs and I started at 150. Hang in there.

I agree with everything said - but it is only 1lb more than your current weight on your stats?? Is that still accurate? If so - it'll be that bouncing scale having fun at your expense!

Although I read later that you've had a drop! So YAY!!

Haven't read all the responses and I'm late to this, but yes adding back carbs will cause the scale to jump up. Expect this, and also expect it to go down.. and up.. and down, but if you record your numbers, you will start to notice a lower low here and there as the overall trend is downward.
