New Here with Question about calculating cals?

Hi All,

I'm on my last hcg round and this seems like the place to be. My goal is 140, but I wanted to stop my round at 135 to give myself a 5-pound window (which may be too much). I'm tall - 5'10" and at my current weight, I wear a size 6. The website says at 135 my DD cals should be 1065 and my "Normal Calories" should be 2130. Is the normal calories the number I should not exceed on Up Days? I won't be starting until I hit 135-40, am I calculating my cals incorrectly? TIA!

I'm not starting yet, but will start posting here too! Glad to be here!

I got different numbers from the JUDDD calculator. Did you change the setting to inches and pounds rather than metric? At 135 pounds, age 42 and 70 inches I got 330 for DD and 1649 for UD. Most folks choose little to no exercise setting.

Adi's numbers seem more accurate to me too.

It might be because I was added 3-5 days per week of exercise. When I begin, I'll be @ maintenance. Do I chose the 40% or 45% options? I'm a little confused. TIA

Stephanie: Now I see what you mean! Yes, if you get to 135 and want to maintain you would choose 45% or higher. that would be 959/2130 if you choose the 3-5 days of working out.

You may have to play around with the numbers a bit to get it just right for you. And, when you do decide to start, put in your current weight at that time. I, too, feel it is a good idea to select a notch or two lower when estimating exercise.

Sounds like you are a planner and you will do really well with this and enjoy it, too.

Oops, I missed that you'd be in maintenance.

Thank you everyone! I ordered the book Alternate Day Diet last night from Amazon. I had a few people tell me this wasn't for them because on their UP they eat junk. Well....let's see....if I don't change everything about how I eat and my mindsest about food (which it has done a complete 180) - I won't succeed either.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

It is all about calories so they can have all the junk they want as long as they do not go above their calorie limits. When I first started I know I had a few days where I went hog wild but remained within my calorie limits. Still lost. The longer I did the rotation the less interested I became in junk foods. Now I have only one vice and that is GooGoo Clusters but I allow myself one on UD's and all is well.

You can do it Violet Dream!

Whatever you eat just count calories!!! You will find in the book Dr J noticed the same trend - the desire for junk food morphs into a desire for healthy food. .... with occasional treats.

I eat lots of good, healthy foods, as well as a fair amount of "junk" too. I think that's why I've been able to stick with this plan. I find I'm eating a lot less red meat and a wider variety of vegetables, but I still eat out a lot and try to make pretty healthy choices when I do. But if I want chips, I have them. If I'm at a party and there's cake, I'll have some. And I will NOT give up my wine. I did that with low carb. Not anymore!

I am at your goal weight and I eat 700DD/1700UD most days but I don't exercise at all because of a foot issue. I have found upping my numbers makes me gain over time so I just stick to very close to my numbers. Sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less. I also use 45% as my guide.

HTH

You're all the best. When I get going, I'll be at the 3-5 days per week of exercise. That's one thing I haven't missed on hcg, I don't need to exercise and I drop weight like crazy! However, I do feel better when I get some form of exercise.
