For me it was! I go back and read parts of it regularly for motivation.

I had read posts by seasoned JUDDers about the Judd magic that they say takes about 2 weeks to really kick in. After reading the book I understood the science behind the discovery of a gene called SIRT1 and how it activates a unique protein that causes the body to resist fat storage and also helps to burn existing fat, flushing it out through the kidneys.

While the gene becomes activated soon after the fast begins on the first DD, the protein/enzyme begins to build and reaches the point where it really starts to work magic after about two weeks worth of rotation DDs.

Also, the UDs are the times when our metabolism is boosted and the DDs are when fat burning in the cells is stimulated.

Anyway, information like this motivates me and you can tell a lot about an author from what he writes. Dr. J is very sincere. He practices what he preaches. He is a very common sense guy and the book is an easy and enjoyable and encouraging read.

I don't think it is necessary if you just want to follow the woe. But it is fascinating if you want to know what is happening and why. Like Yam-Yam, I reference it frequently.

Wow, might have to get the book. It was hard enough trying to explain LC, but LC and Juddd... I might have well sprouted another head.

If you put on 8 pounds (at my weight, at least), the JUDDD calculator gives you 42 additional UD calories

I borrowed it from the library not long after I started JUDDD, and was thinking about getting it again soon for a refresher. It might be a good idea for me to go ahead and buy a copy sometime to have on hand.

I ordered my copy. Waiting to get it in the mail. This place is a good reference, but my work got smart and blocked this site so I would like to have the book with me for more information when I can't get to this site.

I too just re-read it and it I think I have decided to change up my approach a bit on DD. Then I asked the budds here what they do. I really found the book helpful. I have it on my nook.
