Down Day calories...Who eats 500calories and who eats less??

I am just curious about how my other judd budds approach this? What has worked for the ones who are succeeding??

Who eats 500 calories and if u do then do u think its helped or slowed your weight loss??

For those who eat less do u try to do it or does it just happen?? Do you think eating below has helped or increased your loss?? Or do you think you ate more on up days and made DD a bit harder??

My calculator numbers are 350/1750 which is what I started with. Then I got the book and read it and Dr. J suggested 500 calories using shakes, so I did the induction over using 500 calories and lost. I dropped DD's to 350 and most days lower and started having problems losing. I just bounced up and down almost all of February. Raised my numbers to 500/1900, included more carbs and started losing again. So I believe the numbers are a very personal thing.
I find DD's easy. I have a pretty set menu so don't have to think much about it. UD's are an other story but I have finally reached the point where I can eat one cookie or one GOO GOO Cluster and not want more, more, more.
I will stick to 500/1900 until I stop losing. Then I will reconsider my numbers.
My losses are slow but they are steady and I am happy.

The numbers that I use are 500/1600. I've gone under the 500 by 200-250 a couple of times, but I didn't notice any difference in weight loss, so I figure might as well enjoy my 500 cals.

Generally I aim for 500. Occasionally I make it, sometimes I am below, sometimes I am over. But I am living 2 to 4 pounds under maintenance thanks to regular JUDDD rotations.

I'm always under 500, and almost always under 400, sometimes under 300, and rarely under 200, and 2 or 3 times under 100. It just depends how I'm feeling on the DD. But I absolutely respect the 500 and do not go over it.

I stay right at 500, maybe a little more or a little less. I have gone way under 500 and even tried fasting and it didnt help loss at all and it made me feel horrible. So I figure if its not gonna help my weightloss i will enjoy the 500. I didnt like the way i felt when i fasted or tried to go all day without eating anything.

I go over on all days! I really try to not go over on UD, but I do, and DD I always go over, my # are 1340 for UD and 340 for DD. My DD are never under 500!

BUT, I am losing both # and inches!

I struggle to keep my DD calories down, I aim for 500 but probably it's usually closer to 600 or 700, but I am losing so at the moment, it's not a problem.

I seem to be Shirlc's twin in this one. Same cals. Same results and decision when I tried lower DD cals.

My DD number is 407. If I really need more, I'll go to 500, however, currently I'm struggling to get my UD number, let alone my DD! Last DD I had about 200, if that.

My numbers are 600/1800. Some days I am closer to 500, but typically speaking, I am between 500 and 600 and things seem to be going along just fine, and since that is a number I can easily live with, I am going to stick with it until/unless something changes in my losing pattern.

In weight loss mode, I was eating between 475 - 750 on DDs, usually toward the higher number. I really worked on that UD number though - made sure I tried to "stick it" right in the range I knew worked for me, which was between 1700 - 1800 calories.

Now in maintenance, I go between 500 and 850 DDs.

I aim for 300-600 depending. I have gone over when I feel shaky, I do eat some nuts or something. I keep 100 calorie packs of almonds on hand for those times.

This is true for me too. I don't go over by a lot, but I like higher DDs for sure. I don't know how you guys do these 300 cal days or 0 cal days. I'm starting to get the appetite suppression, but I need something!

Sophie, did you just up your UD cals for maintenance then? I was thinking that in maintenance (long ways off, but yes, it crosses my mind ), I'd up my DD cals more than my UDs...what is your take on that?

My numbers are 500/1800, and I'm usually pretty close to hitting them. I tend to be under by a few cals as opposed to over, but at a 2# average weight loss since January 1st, I'd say whatever I'm doing is working just fine, and I'm loving it!!

i eat 400 cals or less i find the DDs very easy. the UDs hard. hard to get in the 1800 (used to be 2000) cals ii think i should be eating on the UDs. dont know yet how much of a difference it will make that i lowered the cals. 3 weeks in and down about 4 lbs. maybe more but i wont be weighing in until friday.

My numbers are 341/1704, both of which seem awfully low to me, BUT I strive for the 341, and NEVER have gone above 400. But, ah, 4 times in the 2 months I've been following JUDD I have gone WAY over (by over 1000) on the UDs...

Thus my loss is small-JUDDD is not forgiving to me...

Atkinsgoddess - The suggestion was made to me to raise my calories from 350/1750 to 500/1900 and see what happened. The increased DD calories helped me to be able to control the UD calories as well and I am slowly losing and have quit going hog wild on the UD's. I am losing better at 500/1900 than I did at 350 (usually actually did 220)/1750. So I am enjoying the extra DD calories. Not suggesting you do the same but it is a thought.

I agree with adillenal...it seems counter-intuitive, but I have DDs at about 600-650 (sometimes even higher) and am doing ok. I also go over my UD cals by a few hundred sometimes. Maybe you should try upping your cals a little?
