quick question,,,,please first dd
Okay - I have only done a tiny bit of research and viewed some threads in this site...
I'm having today be my first DD - my question.... Do I begin counting the hours from last night after I ate? Meaning - I would begin my UD tomorrow... Generally going for 36 hours DD? (9pm last night - breaking fast at 9am tomorrow morning...) Typing this - I think I just answered my lame question... yes - right? Thanks - Carry on... Kim |

Kim!! Great to have you here!![]() I do not count hours at all. On a UD, I eat as soon as I am hungry and finish my calories whatever time I finish. I go to bed, and the next day, a DD, I try to wait as long as possible to eat and finish my DD calories by the time I go to bed. Hope this helps! ![]() |

Sorted then! Enjoy (ha ha) your first DDs.
Actually I love the DDs, there is something very cleansing about them. Occasionally they are tough but as a rule I get through them with no hassle. |

! I think your question has been answered and to add to this, most of us just end our DD when we go to sleep and start when we wake up. I have never counted hours, didn't even think to do that! ![]() ![]() ![]() Enjoy your first DD and I PROMISE....they DO get easier with time! Now I my DDs for the simplicity of knowing what I'm going to eat!! |

Kim!!!I've heard Pat (our resident expert on all things JUDD) talk about the DD being 36 hours, so you are exactly right. May I recommend that if your first DD gets tough and the tummy growling bothers you, have a spoon full of high protein yogurt (ff, plain Greek is the best) or a piece of chicken. Or, one thing I like is to take a piece of Foster Farm's Oven Roasted Deli Turkey Breast and roll it around some lettuce, chopped celery and sliced hot jalepeno peppers. ![]() Even a small bit of protein (hard boiled egg or even just the white) will turn off the rumbles and make you forget about food for a while. Another thing I have worked into both DDs and UDs as a great appetite suppressant and energy booster is to stir a rounded teaspoon of Extra Virgin Coconut Oil into a hot cup of 20 calorie Nestle's hot milk chocolate. Very yummy, soothing, warms me up and keeps me on track. I find DDs very calming. My brain seems clearer and my happiness quotient goes way up! ![]()

Thank you all so much! I have a bit of a headache right now. I suppose it will get easier, fingers crossed... Think I might hit the deli (sales rep and on the road) and get something. Feeling a little yucky right now. I had 2 ish spoonfuls of cottage cheese around 10:30am.
Anyone else feel this way? Take care - Kim |

Kim!Especially since you travel, it is a good idea to plan meals - even carry a cooler. Most of us find DDs get easier. Many of us prefer DDs - strange but true. |

Are you drinking lots and lots of water? If you are a coffee drinker, don't forget to drink your coffee. I always have 2 or 3 cups in the morning and I would never, ever think of giving up the tablespoon of half and half I put in each one. Sometimes 2 tablespoons. It suppresses my appetite and if I stopped I'll bet I would get a headache.
![]() I have never felt bad on DDs. Not even on the first one. Not sure why that is. I do drink lots of water, though. Listen to your body and don't do anything that makes you sick. Remember that you can go up to 45% and still be OK. Some JUDDers had to start at a higher calorie count in the beginning and work their way down to 500 or less. Hope you feel better soon! ![]() |

Kim, all of us are different, if you are feeling yucky and headachy, EAT something and definitely drink something.
I always recommend something protein based but do what you can. It does get easier, I promise. Did you start with an UD or jump straight in with a DD? |

Cindy
Thanks for asking. I guess I did jump into a dd - however I was really not watching what I was eating for a while. I was having constant cravings and was just going with them. I know how to get my mind over my cravings but I just was kind of giving up.
I think this woe will be a little of a mental challenge in the beginning - but I love (I think it is your quote?) that it is just a day away! I actually think doing this will be empowering! Have a great Saturday! |
