i've seen some strange things

at work, they are doing a biggest loserish type challenge...i'm not participating because the finale is may 1 and i'll be coming back from vacation on apr 29....so EVERYONE at work is all hyped up and it's kind of amusing!

things i've seen/heard people are trying
* putting hot sauce on every thing they eat so it speeds up metabolism (Dr. Spiro Antoinides, a doc we worked with, wrote a book on this topic of weight loss)
* adding cinnamon and or garlic to every thing for the same reason
* drinking green tea as if its going out of style
all of the standard weight loss methods (lowcarb, ww, jenny, medifast) but noone is try JUDDD because THAT's weird....i've pointed them it this direction multiple times....:D i'm hoping that i can show them that this is a great woe too someday!

has anyone tried any techniques in addition to juddding along with any success...today i added hot sauce to my cabbage, brewed some green tea and threw a whole bunch of cinnamon in it....just for fun!

I just naturally crave spicy foods on DDs (often on UDs too) and I'm losing like gangbusters. I have no idea if it's related. And I don't mean just mildly spicy foods. It's kind of joke at work that it must be a down day because Dawn's got serranos or jalapenos in her broth! :hyst:

I drink green tea almost everyday (forget on the weekend), but I always drink it, so I'm not sure if it helps or not. I love garlic and add it to everything and I do eat spicy foods sometimes. I haven't changed anything while dieting though so I'm not sure....

I adore green tea, but I would adore it whether it improved weight loss or not. I take resveratrol and coconut oil when I remember to. If I can remember to buy more, I have taken cinnamon in the past.

Speaking of which, do not ingest large amounts of cinnamon from your spice cabinet!

Check the labels on the pills carefully. Cinnamomum verum, also called Ceylon cinnamon or Sri Lanka cinnamon is the only 'true' cinnamon. Everything else is a form of Cassia.

Cassia is a relative of cinnamon, in the US is in your spice drawer, has some of the same good effects, and contains a large amount of natural coumarin, a blood thinner that can attack the liver and kidneys. Taken in small amounts (like sprinkled over roast, spicy chicken) most bodies can handle it. But too much coumarin can cripple or kill. Some European countries no longer allow it to be imported.

Cinnamon verum also contains coumarin, but in much smaller amounts. So, if you take blood thinners or have related issues, approach any cinnamon very cautiously.

It must be fascinating: watching almost all of the various diets, and maybe even a few woe's going on around you. Do you have to bite your tongue to keep from saying, "But.......(fill in the blank)"?

It should get really interesting after the competition - seeing who keeps the weight off.

i know it really is fun because at lunch or breaks i get to see what everyone whips out of their lunch bag, almost NO ONE is going downstairs to the cafeteria any more so THAT must be hurting the caf crew to some extent but there HAVE been some exciting debates of over who's woe is better....i said my peice to a few people who i've known to do lowcarb in the past but i've kept my mouth shut cause as of right now i'm not a great example...when i lose past my pre vacation weight, then my actions will speak for themselves...NOW if only i can lose past pv lbs i'll be in good shape....thanks for the heads up on the cassia cinnamon...i put some in my greentea today and it was tasty....i don't want to do any damage tho!

I don't know about speeding up metabolism, but I do find spicy food to be a terrific appetite suppressant on DDs. Have fun watching more weird and wonderful things your colleagues are doing to lose weight!
