What If DDs Didn't Have A Calorie Number We Had To Follow And....

instead it was food choices from all the food groups that when picked for each meal would add up to your DD calories? My thought that is could simplify the DDs for us and actually may help with anyone wanting to try our JUDDD and being afraid of that DD calorie number.

Pat posted something like this on a thread about food groups, their weights/measures and how to combine them for a low calorie meals and this is where I started thinking.

What if we got to choose one from column A (meat), one from column B (dairy/eggs), one from column C (whole grains), and so now, for each meal? Each has the amount of calories and how much you can have of that item. All we would need to do is figure out how much we wanted, calorie wise, for each meal, and then add up our combo choices.

By the end of the day we would have eaten all the meals/food we wanted and our DD calories would be right on the money! I really love this idea and am wondering if there is a book out there with this concept.

What says our JUDDD BUDDDs? Like or hate this idea?

Kind of like Lean for Life.
For B you can have 1 protein, 1 fruit (can't remember exactly) but there is a page with the amounts of each

II think I would like this as an option. And maybe a starting point. But it could never account for everything and would end up being a little limiting I would think.
Definately a great starting point!

WOE: Whatever plan keeps me around 150 lbs!
Sounds kind of like the "Deal a Meal" plan from the 80s. I think it would be a good idea. I'm pretty stuck in what I eat on DDs, so it might open up a whole new world of possibilities.

When I was doing my PSMF before, there were no calorie requirements, but there WAS a protein requirement. The requirement was that you had to get X grams of protein per pound of lean body weight, and that your sources had to be lean protein. You could also eat unlimited veggies (low carb ones). All of my days ended up around 500 cals or less without trying, that was just the amount of calories that filled me up if I was eating pure protein.

I think if I said that I was not going to count calories but just do lean protein, I would usually come out under 500 cals. Especially considering that on PSMF I had to force feed myself to get in all my protein grams per day some days. I think if I said "I will just eat eggs, cucumber and celery" or whatever I'd end up at 400 or less cals per day without trying. I find it very hard to overeat eggs.

Sounds like the Body For Life book. They tell you exactly what food groups to eat for each meal and each snack. They give suggestions for those food groups too and then you mix and match.

For JUDDDing, it seems more limiting than the calorie limits alone. I love that I can have 2 or 3 servings of veggies and hummus for example and not have anything else the entire day on a DD if I wish. Or I can have an atkins bar and atkins shake if that gets me through.

WOE: JUDDD & paleo

that sounds awful to me. i find the DDs so easy and so enjoyable that i wouldnt want to add any complication. of course by now i know the cals of just about anything i want to eat by heart so it is easy to keep track of my DD cals. mostly i eat protein. often all protein on the DDs. but i never have the weakness or mental fog that others report.

What do you do about the various WOEs? Have a different selection set for lc, another for paleo, another for vegans....? I assume anyone eating under 500 cals would just eat less than the complete 500 cal selection. But what do you do about anyone with DD calculations above 500?

I can see writing it as a program where you click on WOE and click on 'max DD calories'. But it could become an awfully complicated book.

Anyway, one of the big selling points of JUDDD for me is the autonomy and personal responsibility it entails as a WOL that embraces any WOE. I suspect I would not read that book (or visit the website).

I did not "lose" weight. I evicted it. It is gone and it ain't coming back!

JUDDD cares about calories. JUDDD does not care what you eat. Your body probably does.
