I'd like to know what Fast Five and IF are but a search is getting me nowhere. Are they explained somewhere? Thanks!

You would probably be best to go to other forums for those specific diet plans to get better information, but here's a quick answer: IF stands for Intermittent Fasting, and covers a wide range of ways to eat, and then stop eating for awhile before you eat again. For example, all those people who don't have any appetite for breakfast, so don't eat until lunchtime? And then they eat a regular supper? Well, if you want to get fancy, you could call what they are doing, Intermittent Fasting. ![]() Fast Five just means you eat all the foods for your 24-hour period within a 5-hour spread, so once again.. that would cover the person who didn't eat until lunchtime and then had an early supper. Other than her morning coffee, that would describe how my grandmother ate for the most part. LOL I'm sure others can pop in to add to this. But go to those diet forums here at LCF for a lot more info and discussion on the plans more formally.

I eat low(er) carb on Up Day's. under 60 is pretty low after years of LC! But u don't have to! I'm experimenting adding carbs back in to my diet slowly right now to see what happens... mostly 25-35 carbs per day for me now... but I plan on 60 and under by the time I'm done!

I don't eat at a low carb level. But I do eat at a mid-range carb level. And that number of carbs varies over the course of the week, but not necessarily by UD or DD only.
I eat all of the normal low carb foods except the manufactured products. I do not use the artificial sweeteners or the alternate baking mixes or flours. But all of the meats and cheeses, eggs and fats, etc. of a normal low carb diet are included in my daily diet too. I also eat all of the additional vegetables and fruits and even grains that many low carbers don't. But it's not like I gorge on them every meal and every day. It's just that these foods are also allowed in my diet. And I sometimes enjoy a very high carb item. Usually that is fabulous artisan bread or a dessert of some kind. But when it's all averaged out, my diet is about mid-range in carb count. I love it a lot! |

I would also like to keep this thread for links only, not questions. If we can link to things that have been asked before here then I think Newbies will have a "go to" thread for anything they could possibly want to know.
Anyway, here are but a few of the threads I found when I did a search in our forum for low carb and JUDDD. If you do a search you will find quite a few more on this subject. if you want to find into search for 'fast-5' and 'intermittent fasting'. nothing much to do with JUDDD specifically. but people do both. it is usually eating during any 5 hr window of your choice. not stuffing. and then nothing but fluids for 19 hrs. i kind of like it. but since i am JUDDDing i would have to stuff to get in all my UD cals in 5 hrs.

i do. i am eating paleo style; doing the jack kruse leptin reset which calls for 50 - 75 grms protein as soon as you awaken. and i do it every day even on DDs. and still all paleo on the UDs. except one time i had a piece of my grand daughters birthday cake. and i will do that again later this month on my grandsons birthday. that is it for refined carbs for me in two months.

Time for a BUMP again! Many times questions are asked over and over by Newbies so it's nice to have one thread for them to come to for lots of answers.
Please post the thread you think will help all the Newbies and us Oldies alike! Here are some more threads that may help: Water, lemon, water, protein, sleep.....whoosh! My First DD...Wow. This is going to be HARD. Can "I" lose weight on JUDDD Anyone doing JUDDD and primal/paleo Shake It Up, Baby! (for no loss/too slow loss/the diet-weary, etc.) Dr. J responded to my questions! Brillant Beeb, thanks. It is a little tiring answering the same questions sometimes, although understandably lots of Newbies don't know their way around the boards.
This list would be a great Sticky in itself, not the whole thread maybe but a New Post incorporating most of them. What do you think? |
