can you do less on a DD

I went and did the JUDDD and it shows 402 or 404 i forget for my dd,, can you go lower than that if you feel like it.. i usually can fast on liquids only quite will.. have done it in the past durring lent.. although it was over 20 years ago when i did.. but i wondered.. is it ok??? if i eat less then the 400 they say on a down day?? thanks

If you're able to, it's actually better. Ideally, we would completely fast, but Dr. J. acknowledges that most people can't or won't do that, so 500 is allowed (or whatever number you get from the calculator). Several here have fasted completely on DDs.

thanks for your quick reply.. i just feel that after an up day.. and after being on a low car diet for the first two months.. today eating 1589 cals was soo hard.. and seams soo wrong.. i amm soooooo full after my dinner, which was only 2 ounces of chicken breast and 1/2 cup of green beans with a pat of butter... i am so over stuffed and am looking forward to trying to undo it tommorrw.. i do best with a liquid day,, water, coffee,,, and one cupof broth at nite to feel as if i fed my body.. thanks.. i hated to do somthing wrong right from the get go..

Well, I will say it depends. I did the 2 week induction with 500 calorie shakes. I then went to my 350 calculator number but usually only about 220. I stopped losing. I raised the DD calories to 500 and started losing again.

Everyone is different so you will just have to try and see what works for you.

Give it a try and see. There is not reason you can't do lower, but if you find, like adillenal did that it's not working well just go back to a higher number.

thanks girls.. it sounds as if there is no strict hard fast rule.. so i guess i will try out differnt things and see where it gets me thanks alot

I started fasting on DD for breakfast and lunch and then eat something light for dinner. It has been working for me and i feel great on DD. But like some of the more experienced JUDDDers have said, you have to find what works for you.

Start Date: JUDDD 1/1/12 + LCHF 12/1/13 (controlling diabetes)
We are using DD eating to invoke calorie stress response (and fat burning, and inflammation reduction, and bumping up health).

The trick is to find out how low you can go, still feel good, and lose weight.

Some metabolism have to eat on DD in order to lose. Some can fast. Many DDs I do a modified fat fast (aiming for 500 cals/DD).

Within the 0 - 404 you get to experiment.

And, you may find yourself starving on some DDs. I get a famished DD every two or three weeks - I have no idea why. Others have reported them. On those days plan to eat a little more. They usually result in something resembling a whoosh.

JUDDD cares about calories. JUDDD does not care what you eat. Your body probably does.
