I neglected to mention this is her first year in "school" as she's been home-schooled up to this year. She attends a middle school with an emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, and she was chosen to represent her school. So proud of that girl! It doesn't hurt that my daughter is pretty much a mini-Cheyenne.

Very cool!
They just opened a STEM school down the street from me,
and I know people who drive their kids 10+ miles to attend.

I watched as much as I could here at work and was quite impressed with how mature and poised my little "Chinny" was! Her dad, my brother, is an aeronautical engineer (can you say rocket scientist?), so I know where she gets her brains!

My daughter is in a specialized program here in California as well. She's only in 1st grade and we've got her in an International Baccalaureate school. I'm so happy she gets exposed to P.E., Art, Music--all the things that have basically been taken away from regular school these days. She also gets to take Spanish and Leadership (debate). Can you all imagine? My first-grader gets all these wonderful classes! Of course, this means she goes to school 2 hours per day longer than all the other 1st graders in our city. She was accepted into the other gifted school as well, which doesn't start until 2nd grade, but we're happy with where she is now.

Anywho, thanks for letting me be proud of my girls! They sure are awesome.

Awesome!

They are starting a STEM school here next year, starting with 6th grade and adding a new grade each year... of course my daughter is in 6th now, so she's going to miss out on the opportunity.
