Today is my first DD

Good afternoon folks-
I havent eaten anything as of yet. I will probably drink a protein shake in a bit.
I just have a few questions- do many of you space your DD meals out like eat every 3-4 hours or do you just eat when you get hungry?
I ask becuase I was once told that eating every couple of hours help keep your metabolism running?
I planned to exercise today, but decided aganist it, I dont want to mess up anything. Did any of you exercise on your first 2 weeks of Ddays?

There's no tried and true pattern to how we space out our eating on DDs. I wait as long as I can before eating and that works well for me. Some need to have breakfast though, so whatever works for you is fine.

The glory of JUDDD is that, as long as you're doing UD/DD rotations and getting close to your numbers both days, it doesn't really matter what you eat, or when. Your metabolism will be so darn confused it will have no choice but to keep humming along, probably getting stronger in the process.

I exercise on DDs just fine, though it's usually something like roller skating, ice skating, or going to the zoo. I'm not the poster child for high intensity workouts, but I do just fine on DDs. Again, it's a YMMV kind of thing. Some have found that they are fatigued for a couple of weeks on DDs.

Good luck!

to JUDDD, Miss Tan!!

I did not exercise at first on DDs but then I was not exercising at all from last Sept. until just recently. I would not do anything high intensity on DDs though, especially not until you get more accustomed to JUDDD.

You don't have to worry about your metabolism slowing on JUDDD. The little calories on DDs combined with the higher calories of UDs won't let the metabolism slow. Just make sure you eat as close to your UD number as you can in order to keep the wide swing in your calories so JUDDD's magic can take effect.

Eat how you need to on DD, but you may find that the types of foods and the frequency of eating changes as you get further into JUDDD. Sometimes I go until afternoon without eating on DD, and other times I eat before noon. Usually my meals are around 4+/- hours apart, and I always save something for later in the day so I don't go to bed hungry.

Have a great day!

Like the others have said...it doesn't matter on Juddd when you eat.
However, for me personally, I like to put off eating as late as possible, and then use my calories in the evening.
I can take being hungry when there is the promise of a feast to come...eating little and often makes me want MORE!
It took some months of Juddding to get to this point, but now, on DD's, I eat first at about 6-7pm...and stick with coffee, beef tea, the occasional sf sweet, and sf gum till then.

hugs
Jo

I hope you are enjoying your DD...and that tomorrow morning is even more enjoyable if/when you step on the scale!

Once that old JUDDD magic kicks in, DDs tend to be high energy because nature is fueling our metabolisms. Which makes DDs really pleasant and easy to manage.

Welcome! I've found I'm one who needs to eat regularly on DD's. I tried fasting till lunch and ended up crabby, shaky and headachy. I usually have an egg and coffee (decaf, black) for breakfast, and am good till lunch, which is usually the cabbage dish. Then I need something around 3:30 (hardboiled egg, broth and egg whites or some such) to get me to dinner (lean protein and veggies).

I need to focus on mostly protein, with some veggies for bulk to be comfortable on my DD's. Others need more veggies, some are good with lots of broth, tea, coffee.

It's just something you figure out as you go along. And if you need 100-200 more calories on those first few DD's, it's really ok to take them and work your way down as you get more comfortable with it. Sometimes, just having them available helps, even if you never use them.

OMG.... I am definitely going to bed early tonight!!!
It is definitely more challenging than I expected. I think its a mind over matter thing. The fact that I am limiting my calories is making me kind of obsess about it.
Iím thinking of having some hot tea with sugar substitute or something...Other than filling my belly with as much water as I can take- I donít know what else to do.
Iím not feeling faint or shaky. Its 6:15 and Iíve eaten 363 calories. Iím pacing myself...
This is my first one, so if I get through it, I know... I just know I can make it!!!

You're doing great! Just remember, whatever you didn't have today, you can have tomorrow. And the next DD will be easier, just knowing you've already made it through one!

it's my second DD today. Trying to space my calories a bit. Not to go though, finish by calories at 3pm. So I took an hour nap, than a 2 mile walk and then washed my truck. I feel I need to keep busy today. Hope the next DD gets easier.

You will be so happy tomorrow when you wake up to your UD In the meantime, eat if you need something. Look on our DD recipes, DD staples, the cabbage + protein thread, etc. if you haven't already.

Hot tea with sugar sub. sounds good, also chew sugar-free gum stick after stick until you feel better.

Egg white omelet with fried deli ham (low calorie) will supply a lot of protein which may make you feel full - include cooked veggies in the omelet and a melted wedge of Laughing Cow cheese if you want, is a low calorie quick and easy option.

Don't be afraid to go over 500 cal if you need it or at least give yourself the option of doing that... you will be surprised at how it can help calm the hungries on DD if you have in your mind that you can go up to 600 - 700 calories tonight if you need it. And then you don't have to use those calories, but just knowing they are there helps. Of course use them if you really need them. You can work your way down to lower calories if needed.

Let us know how you're doing tonight if you can, or fill us in tomorrow when you wake up to that glorious UD!

One pound down is a great start!

Keeping busy really does help. As you body accepts the idea of being hungry, it also appreciates having a distraction.
