I loved hearing your food memory of France, Andrea! Share more of your memories there if you like!

Have you had a loaf of baguette in the States that matched what you remember in France? I hear that doesn't happen often.

I'm in for Friday - 'cept it will be Thursday for you all!!!!

Am off shopping this arvo - so thinking:

B: Pain au Chocolat (or standard croissant if I can't find a pac), large chocolat
S: I'll need some protein after that!!! So a little brie and saucisson
L: Jambon Baguette & glass of vino (may be Aussie!)
D: Need to think on this - but thinking a Coq au Vin, French Beans (tee hee hee) and some more vino with a creme brulee??? (or I may just have to have more brie, saucisson and some pate with crackers!)

Think this may be more than my alloted 2200 for the day though off to check!!

PS - Kissa - why you not play!!!!??????

I may try making a crepe de noisette. Not sure how to spell it, but a hazelnut crepe. To die for.

Oh and maybe some fois gras. Or those delicious French Macarons !!! yum yum

I am off to do some research and will report back!!
oh.my! Is this something similar???? I need to learn how to make this!!!

I do have a funny Breakfast in Paris story. I suppose I could tell my little French story on Friday (I get to celebrate Friday, my next UD) in honor of our first JUDDD BUDDD theme party!

Btw, your menu for tomorrow sounds fab! It totally kicks my thursday menu's arse (coffee, broth, bacon/cabbage/cheese). :P

so funny I got back on JUDDD just for the french party !!!

For my UD today I was scheduling something not so french (but I do have baguette for breakfast !) but here's a little something for you :

Mummy's nothern France beer-crepes recipe
For 4 persons
400g flour (3 1/4 cup)
4 eggs
4 tbsp melted butter
a pinch of salt
1 liter (33 oz ?) beer (at room temp)

In a bowl mix the flour and the salt. Dig a hole in the center, pour in the butter, and then the eggs, one by one, mixing veeeeery slowly from the center towards the outside. When all eggs are in pour the beer mixing slowly... If you have too many lumps just mix once more with an immersion blender

With beer crepes you don't need resting time. Heat your flatest frying pan and cook the crepe, pouring the batter as thinly as you can (it's all in the wrist !) When the top of the crepe looks dry and the border starts to brown you can flip it and cook for one more minute.

Enjoy savory with cheese, ham, roasted veggies or sweet with fruits, whipped cream and way to decadent topping for me to list 'em

Have a wonderful French UD ladies

Vicky, today is an MD and I am going to Plymouth to have lunch at Hugh Fearnley Whittingthingy's restaurant. So I will make that my food for today. May find something a leetle beet French, nest pas?

On Friday I am out to a cocktail reception in Exeter and plan on Italian after that, at our favourite 'Marcello' as we drive back to London on Saturday.

I love reading all these great ideas.

Hi Jo, Never had escargot. I've had frog legs before, but I'm no good at preparing them myself. How do you eat the Brie? Just curious.

I can eat it cold straight out of the fridge....but my fav way is to take a whole mini brie, pop it in an oven proof dish, top with garlic butter and flaked almonds, and bake till all hot n runny inside. Then use it to top crackers, perhaps with some rocket n olives,,,,drool!

hugs
