Non-Scale Victories- please list them

I like hearing all the news about improved skin tone--what a neat benefit that I guess a lot of us have been trying to achieve cosmetically--who knew!

Go, Adi for giving up the diet soda. It took me a while to get there, but am really glad I did.

Adi, I'm with ya on the Diet Coke (although I still have one occasionally) but they'll pry the coffee cup out of my cold dead hands. I don't drink it with any cream, so I figure it's basically a freebie, especially on DDs. I'm glad you feel so good and no headaches--lots of people do when giving up caffeine.

Kathy, I have the ring guards on my wedding band. They work ok, not great. They grip it from the inside so it's not terribly noticeable. I don't know how much they were, DH bought them online, but my impression is that they're not terribly expensive. Might be worth a try, see how you like them.

Even with the sizers, I've had to take my ring off a couple of times on down days because my fingers get so small I'm afraid the ring will come flying off. I don't know how many sizes I've gone down, but it's several. I think they're going to have to remake my band when I take it to the jeweler to get re-sized after I'm done losing.

This made me happier than what I posted on this thread 2 days ago. Today while searching for a warm weather top to wear with my new summer pants, everything I was putting on from last season was just too baggy. They were Mediums and larges and I really thought they would still work. Still don't "see" myself smaller yet. I did have a couple of "Small" tops that fit beautifully. I was almost emotional about it. I kept thinking "I really do fit the small nicely!" It's still having to sink in on me. Permanent smile here! The high temp for Dallas was 83 and may have been warmer! I know it was in my car when I got in it!! Can't wait to swim again, but will HAVE to buy a new swim suit. Notice I didn't say bikini! I'm afraid I now have a granny-fanny!!!

After writing all that about my ring size, I asked DH for his jeweler's set of sizers (that's probably not the right name for them) and tried on different sizes. Turns out my ring size is now 6 1/2.

My wedding band (which was bought on our fifth anniversary, so 18 years ago) was originally made in a size 9. So I've lost 2 1/2 sizes in my fingers. Wow!

My NSV is that after more than a 6 week absence I went to the gym and worked out hard this morning for almost 2 hours!! While I was on the elliptical for 60 minutes of high intensity cardio, I felt so light! Realized I weigh about 6 pounds less than the last time I worked out.

And, I kept looking at myself in the gym mirror and thinking how much better I look! Can't believe it.

I can really tell JUDD has helped me maintain lean muscle mass even though I've been avoiding the gym.

I understand about not seeing yourself as "small" yet, Phyl! But it will come - you just have to accept that what you see and feel and the sizes you are wearing are telling you the truth - you are a small, vibrant, hot woman!

This should be included in the a category for wonderful things that happen on JUDDD! We've had inches lost, smaller feet, and smaller fingers! WTG, Luna on slender fingers!

Love this thread - stops people fretting over the darned scales! Yesterday, I put on a pair of jeans that had started to get a bit loose but were still wearable, this time they were so big I couldn't hope to keep them on even with a belt - they just looked ridiculous!

If you are, then I am I often get tearful here (and on the whole JUDDD forum) seeing how we're all enhancing our lives. I think it's so meaningful because it's not "just about weight loss". We might have been in an emotional relationship with food for years (I know I certainly was), struggling, imprisoned etc. Finding freedom is a very profound experience, and we can all empathize with that wonderful feeling.

My NSV for today is the picture on the left. DH and I went for a day trip back to the place where we went on our honeymoon. (I am thinner now than I was back then even.) We were on a railroad tour, and the conductor had just been explaining how wide the tracks were and had let people put coins on the tracks for the locomotive to roll over. After the locomotive had gone by (it was turning around) I laid on the tracks to play damsel in distress.

I NEVER in a million years would have done such a thing when I was bigger! I wouldn't want the attention on me, wouldn't want to be noticed, but today I didn't care! I was having fun and not even thinking about my size or how I looked. I haven't had that freedom in soooooooooo long!!! It's sad thinking about all those years I let my size get in the way. But no more!!

The picture is perfect. So much fun. I never would have done that at my heaviest, not so much because of the attention, as the fact that I wouldn't have been able to get back up! How wonderful and freeing it is to lose the weight. I'm so proud of you!

Isn't this the greatest!!! Yesterday I was with a friend who I have dieted with off and on for years. To find myself saying, "I will do this WOE the rest of my life" and knowing it was the absolute truth really hit me! All the years of searching and dreaming about being thin and healthy are really over. Ohhhh what joy and peace!!!
