So, my week away in London....

was an abject disaster for my way of eating. Argh. Made great plans and it all fell to hell. (Had a really good time, though...)

I am afraid to get on the scale just yet, but feel really poofy and out of sorts. So...back to a good old DD today, and after I get a few of those under my belt this week, will weigh again then, and see how things stand.

Next week, I am in Chicago all week on business - eating every meal with colleagues, so don't know how that will go either, but I will worry about next week, next week....

It is also unfortunately one of those "I am ready to chew my own arm off" DD's - probably due to my debauchery of the last week. So, having a tough re-start. Blech. This stinks.

You can do this.

Is there anything you can do for distraction? Some good music, a movie, a book? I can't read when hungry, as I have a lifetime pattern of eating while reading, but some people can.

I hope it gets better.

I am working today - and am still jet lagged, headachey and exhausted - which is when I eat, too - I wish I had something active I could do, but am stuck behind this desk.

Oh, good heavens, listen to me whine. I'm a mess.

Glad you had a good trip and made it safely back, Marianne. Yes, the higher carb UDs definitely make DDs harder, especially when the UDs come day after day. After today's DD, your body will be sort of "reset" back into the swing of things though. I know that's no help today while you're so hungry.

Maybe sip all day on tea, coffee, water, protein shake... Nibble a protein bar. Have protein foods like shrimp, chicken, fish, small amts of beef or pork on top of a big salad. Later when you get home could have the cabbage skillet dish or nice egg white omelet. Or a sandwich on low cal bread piled high with veggies, some thin sliced ham or turkey, dab of seasoning and dressing, etc. Sometimes having a big red grapefruit satisfied me for a long time. HTH some. Hang tough, but if you have to go over DD calories some, go ahead. It's a big adjustment to get back into it after so long of having UDs, but you can get there with some TLC to yourself (which may include a little higher DD today).

As usual, Sophie has wise words.

((((hugs)))) Glad you had a great time. You may have gained, but you know with JUDDD, you can rein it back in and go forward. And if need be, you can do it again after next week too.

I wonder for next week, if you could manage 750 dd's, rather than 500? Coffee for breakfast, maybe a grapefruit, or even just a scrambled egg. Salad with dressing on the side for lunch, and then a basic protein/veggie combo for supper might get you close.

Hmmm - you know, that's really not a half bad idea. I tend to be all or nothing in my thinking. "If I can't keep it at 600 (my DD limit) or less, the whole thing is shot". But if I give myself just a little bit more latitude, given the circumstances, then perhaps I have much more of a fighting chance.

Definitely something to mull over.

I'll have more control, too - as in London, lunches, breakfasts, snacks....were all pre-ordered for us, but in Chicago, I will be in control of that.

You still have a trickle of sirtuin enzyme running around in you - day after tomorrow's DD should be better (yes, I speak from experience here ). And, hallelujah! that you get to make choices next week. I think Tina's idea of expansive DDs is great.
