Speck, I find that I'm the same way. I really can't eat below my UD calories more than once in a blue moon otherwise I stall. If I go over by a little bit from time to time it doesn't hurt (though too much over more than once or twice is also bad for me), but anything significantly under and the weight just doesn't budge. Waiting and thinking positive thoughts for your good news this weekend!

Well, it's good to know I'm not a complete odd ball. Who knew a person could be so "finely tuned" to a particular window? hmph!

I woke up to 152 (something, can't remember... .4? .6?) this morning. And that was after an UP day, even. The water is shedding, that's for sure. I shall see if tomorrow brings another drop in poundage. I'm hoping, as today was a down day and I rocked it.

Good luck, Speck!
I hope you are feeling more encouraged!!!

I totally understand when you say you feel "jealous, sad and disheartened". I truly feel happy & excited for everyone, I do, but also upset that I am not seeing similar results. I mean, not on LC (other people lost 30-80lbs when I possibly might have lost 2-3), not when I started taking metformin (other people losing 20-50lbs in a few months, without changing anything else...I think I lost 5), then various "side effects" from JUDDD...I feel your frustration!!!

But I sure hope YOU become another one of those who make me jealous soon!

Thanks Jenny It really is helpful to have all of you cheering me on and being so nice and encouraging. I feel like the Little Engine that Could over here! "I think I can, I think I can" interspersed with moments of doubt.

So, yah, 150.0 this morning! I was like WTH? I got on and off the scale at least 3 times. Too good to be true? I don't know yet. Trying not to get too excited about it.

I had a nice little breakfast, and a great, filling late lunch. Total so far is about 1150. I'm at the mercy of others for my dinner tonight (due to a school event) and I don't even know what's on the menu! It will more than likely NOT be Primal or low carb, but that's OK. 550 calories left for dinner, even if it's pizza like it was last year, I will be fine.

Ok, so Speck--what are the numbers you are currently using that started you losing again? I, too, seem to be an "oddball," and I'm trying to hit my sweet spot. Since we are very close in size and weight, I'm curious to see what you are doing, and I might try it, as well.

The numbers that worked back in October/November, and seem to be working now (is there a "fingers crossed" smiley??) are 1700 up days, 600 down days. Tightening that up OR relaxing that seems to have stalled me -- I was very lax throughout the holidays (no loss) and tried to make up for that in Jan./Feb. by being more restrictive (1500/500) which also seems to have stalled me.
I don't know, sometimes I feel like a big, hairless guinea pig.

Well, I've been using 1700/500--so I guess I'll keep at it for a bit. But, I seem to be bouncing back and forth and not going down. I think I have to be very strict just about sticking closely to my numbers. I'm probably not sticking to them closely enough.
Thanks!

If metabolism made absolute sense, we'd all weigh what we want to. These discussions prove we are all different, and the most important thing is figuring out how our own, personal body handles food.

But, speck, I am still tempted to nominate you for the 'most tightly tuned metabolism' of the year award. As you say, no wonder the fat fast failed! And how totally wonderful that you were willing to experiment!

WTG Speck! Congrats on the loss!!!

I am going to throw in my two cents just for good measure:

I have read that is takes your body at least 3 consistently low calorie days to even think it's going into starvation mode. With Juddd you never put your body there regardless, so I personally feel that is a non issue.

Calories in vs calories out: Simply put that is how we lose weight. Age plays a factor as our metabolism slows down. How much we could eat at 25 is not the same at 40. Look into difference calories calculators to verify you have the right numbers. If you don't exercise (structured exercise, not daily tasks) make sure you put sedentary. I really like this calculator:

Harris Benedict Equation

All that aside, what works for one does not necessary work for another. You have to tweak things. Personalize it for yourself. I have lost best averaging 1000/1100 calories a day (500/600 DD & 1500 UD). If I exercise, I can actually increase that a bit Make sure you get some sort of structured exercise in at least 3 times a week for at least 30 min. I recently had a trainer tell me that we burn more calories over the long run the more muscle mass we have. The more muscle mass one has, the more calories burned at rest. Strength training burns calories during and after, whereas cardio only burns during and slightly afterward. She suggested 20 minutes of strength training with no more than 10 min cardio. I was shocked when I heard that.

And lastly, we don't gain the weight overnight so we can't expect to lose it overnight either.

Well, after trying that, maybe try cutting a bit or adding a bit. I don't know, it's a mystery to me.

Everyone, thank you so much for your cheers, hugs, support, patience, tips and advice. I really appreciate it that you care.

I was up a tad this morning to 150.4. I had a good 1750 cal up day, but it was very carby due to eating pizza at a school event last night. I was actually surprised that the damages weren't worse! Today is a down day, and so far so good. I will be happy to be under 150 tomorrow. Once I get back to 145, I will feel like I'm really losing again, because that will have me back to where I was pre-holidays.

I am facing my weekend with some trepidation, though. I have a birthday party to go to on Saturday. I get so weak in the face of party food. Saturday is a down day. It will be a nail biter as I don't want to blow my big Sunday weigh-in! I just have to keep focusing on that.

148.8 this morning! Up day today, and it's going to include some non-Primal food choices (e.g. wheat), so I know this number isn't going to stick around tomorrow.

Oh, even if today is not a perfect DD, you are back on track! If you are kinda careful, another good DD at the right caloric numbers will have you spiraling downward again!

Thank you to all my cheerleaders!! You absolutely rock. Unfortunately, I don't have a spectacular weigh in to report today. All the spectacularness was taken up on Friday with the 148.8. After this weekend's planned and unplanned carbage eating, I am up to 152.6 this morning. I ended up having two Up Days in a row, and both days included eating "out" and eating things that make me retain water like crazy. I know it's water. I didn't eat like a pig. I ate like a normal person. And that is the thing I like best about JUDDD. I can eat like a normal person here and there and in the long run, still lose weight and get healthy. Anyway, today is a down day and it's going to be a good week. I think last week proved to me very quickly that JUDDD can still work for me with higher calorie numbers. If I can "behave", I'm sure I will have netted a loss of several pounds by March 3.

Speck, it certainly has been a pleasure to get caught up here, reading about your last nine days on JUDDD, and your weight loss (and temporary water retention over the weekend LOL) but the water will whoosh away again, and I think the weight loss will continue.

Looks like you've found the right numbers and a good spread for yourself right now. I look forward to reading of a great deal more success over these next couple of weeks. It's looking good so far! Woo Hoo!
