Good idea. Maintanence is rarely achieved.

Planning will always be part of my eating. I have no illusions of ever being "normal" and unconcerned. I like the balance that JUDDD brings to this planning.

I'm here! And of course now that I decide to up my DD calories, I get appetite suppression kicking in and I'm not hungry. LOL (I get the suppression from paleo, I think, more than JUDDD, because when I was letting carbs back in, it went away and I was MUCH hungrier).

So far, I have no tips, because I've been in maintenance all of one day officially.

I look back over the past 3 or 4 years and I called myself a maintainer in the Maintenance Lane on the main Board. And I was maintaining. But I was maintaining a good 7 to 10 pounds above the weight I am now.

I had accepted that I would choose 130 as my goal and as a rule I weighed between 3 and 5 pounds above that. I was not unhappy but I believed my metabolism and my age meant I had to 'settle' for that.

Since reading about JUDDD and starting it at the end of October, weighing 132, I have not only reached my earlier goal of 126 but dropped below it and have only seen that figure 3 or 4 times. Most days I am 123 or 124 lbs.

Also my body has changed shape so much, I didn't measure but everyone comments and I am in smaller and smaller sizes.

I have always exercised. But now I 'fly' through my workouts while before I struggled on occasion. My arthritic knee hardly bothers me.

I feel 10 years younger. I wish I could share this with everyone who is struggling with weight loss.

Thank you JUDDD, and thank you all my JUDDD BUDDDs.

Those "few" pounds really do matter. I ride horses weekly with my DD, effortlessly! I am glad I ignored those who counseled me to accept a heavier weight. I love, love all of the activities I do daily.

Whenever I might get complacent, I think of carrying a gallon of milk every moment of every day. How wearying. I am also so grateful I didn't cause permanent damage to my joints because of excess weight. At my highest weight, 65# ago, 2 large bags of dog food, salt, etc... Never, ever again.

So what is everyone's DD/UD calories from WLM to maintenance?

I lost in WLM using 500 - 750 calorie DDs and 1700 - 1800 UDs.

In maintenance I use 500 - 850 calorie DDs and am doing FDs - but I've been loosely tracking the FDs over the last couple weeks, I estimate 1800 - 2200 calories.

I have lost some more weight each month without intending to since I went into maintenance on Nov. 12, 2010, but I'm hoping my body is happy right around where I'm at now.

Well, I didn't really lose much in wlm (I'm at down 3 right now), but I've pretty much done 500/1500.

I've upped my DD's to 600-650, and keeping the UD's to 1500-1600 for now. I hope I can eventually increase those UD numbers, but I think I still have some healing to do metabolically before that can happen.

Now that I'm back paleo though, I'm finding it hard to eat up to that amount. 3 of my last 5 UD's have been right around 1400 cals, and I'm just too full to stuff more in. Need to add in more almond butter and good fats I think. I also think I need to make a OMM a staple at breakfast time. They are pretty calorie dense.

Well, even though I am in maintenance, I am still losing a bit. I haven't bumped up my calories permanently YET. We have our wedding anniversary coming up (Feb. 18) and a trip out of state to see our ds March 2-5. I am anticipating some weight gain, so am waiting until after that to adjust calories. I am currently DD 500-700(mostly 500) and UD's around 1600-1800, mainly 1600.

I would guess my # are around the same as I try to do about 500-600 on DD and have never counted a UD (FD). I find for me I really need to focus on eating more "meals" on FD and DD's and stop juts picking on food here and there. I also need to eat more healthy and add in some more greens and fruits. I am not a hugh fruit or veggie fan

In WLM I used 500-600 cal DD's 1700-1900 UD's

In maintainance I dont count UD at all....but keep to strict DD's 500-600 cals...usually closer to 550....and my DD's are always 40-60 carbs.

Reached my goal of 135 in October last year, and have maintained between 131 - 134 since then, using the numbers above.

Hugs

I'm doing OKAY, struggling a bit. To be honest, I'm getting a little bored with the UD/DD rotation. There is some stress in feeling like I have to eat even if I'm not that hungry, because the next day is a DD. Most days, I WANT to eat, but, you know what I mean. In fact, TODAY is my first day of doing an intuitive eating day. It's been nice to not think about whether it is an UD or DD. We'll see how it goes. My stats are current. I am thinking about lowering my maintenance range to 133-136. That won't be until after a trip in early March though.

You might do well with MUDDDg since it gives you what feels like a longer eating period to get your calories in. That's one of the things I liked about it was if I didn't have all my calories in on an UD, well it continued the next day, so it was easier to get them in without feeling like the window of opportunity was closing.

Plus while MUDDDg in maintenance I gave myself even more leniency and freedom... let's say it was a DD... I would have the DD until between 5 and 8 p.m. and then start FD eating. That FD would continue through the entire next day. The DD would start again the morning after, continue to 5 to 8 p.m. and repeat with the FD. So I had short DDs of 19 hours or so during which I could still eat 500+ calories if I wanted/needed, and then the FD started again. FDs lasted 30 hours sometimes.

I've gone back to regular JUDDD since then, but I leave the option over to do my MUDDD style eating too if I want. I lost weight eating that way, btw.

Well, figured I'd check in since I started this thread and didn't add to it!

I am still doing my regular FD/DD rotation and am looking at starting a M/W/F DDs, T/F/S FDs and Sunday MD to see how it goes because I would like a little more freedom on Sundays when I cook a nice meal for DF and I.

I am holding well on my 700/750 DDs (usually a bit below this number) and no count FDs at a weight between 133 and 135 so I'm thinking I could mix it up some and see what happens. I've had some pretty up, up and away FDs that haven't seem to cause any problems when I just lowered the DDs the next couple of DDs that week to around 550/650. The water weight from too much FD comes right off doing it this way and then I go right back to 700/750/FD again. I am snacking less, and that is something I have been aiming for and happy it's happening on it's own.

My "not hungry" is still great on DDs and even on UD/FDs so I just eat on these days when I'm starting to get really hungry and eat until just full. When I go over that "just full" mark I tend to overeat, I'm finding, and then I feel stuffed and I don't like "stuffed" at all!

Beeb, I just wanted to say that I love avatar photo of you with your ex and to be. Enjoy your Sunday MDs if you decide to do them.

Marie, you are doing so well and I am sure that if you shake things up a little it will go well. My dream is intuitive eating, but I am enjoying JUDDD too much to change at present.

I am sure you have seen the story of my amazing 4+ gain and loss after my huge FD on Tuesday. I would never have believed the jump up and down if I hadn't experienced it myself.

I put it all over the boards as I hope it will encourage some of those who are afraid of both FDs and the bounce of water weight.

Linda, I didn't mean the dancing cows avatar!

I am still dropping pounds while eating so happily. Interestingly I don't have that old, saggy look I have seen occasionally in the past. Or, at least I don't think I do, lol.

Sorry about that! I changed the avatar and then saw your sweet post about DF and I! That will come back after Easter, promise!

I am struggling right now and up 3 pounds that are NOT coming off with good DDs. So, I'm not in maintenance right now, per say, but hope to be there again by the end of the week or there after since I have decided I really NEED to be accountable for calories on my UDs. I'm eating way too much doing FDs and this needs to stop! I posted about this on our Weight, how you doing thread!

Not a happy JUDDD BUDDD right now! And yes I know the scale bounces but I also know this is fat, not water. It's gotta go!!

I'm still doing well. My stats to the left are current. I update daily. Ideally, I would like to maintain 133-136, more towards 133, but, I am not willing to put in the effort, lol. Right now I will settle for 136-139. I'm wearing 4's and 6's. I am still doing straight calories. I found myself snacking a bit too much so last week. This week I am trying to just eat 3 meals per day.

Linda, I have no doubt you will accomplish your goal!

I'm here, still at 130. I'm not doing the rotation this week though. I need to find my center again with clean paleo. I've let too much artificial sweeteners in to get through tough dd's, and paradoxically, I think it's making it harder and causing some cravings and hunger.

So I'm just going back to instinctive eating, clean paleo, for a week. I'll log in *** to check on the calorie level I settle at without trying to eat more or less. Then I'll re-evaluate at the end of the week.

I'm contemplating working up to 2, 24 hour fasts per week, vs the 3 or 4 500 cal dd's. But if I do that, I'll start with 18 hour fasts (just skipping breakfast), going from 6pm to Noon the next day.

Good to hear you're doing okay, Marie.

Tina, you like Paleo and it likes you too, so I bet this helps you feel more "grounded" and oriented after the whirlwind of JUDDD + adding carbs and experimenting. One of the great things about JUDDD maintenance is that I've felt confident to do experimenting with other types of fasting without a problem. I still come back to regular JUDDD now and then for some good DDs, but after a while I'm off and switching things up again.

Beeb, sorry to hear you're having a struggle lately. I'm sure going back to calorie-counting on UDs will help drop the weight. I will check out the Weight thread to see what else you said about it. I'm still trying to get caught up on missed posts over the last 1+week.

I know what you're talking about! I've found that if I allow myself all Free Days, they gradually get out of hand. I usually have to intersperse with counted Up Days as well, but that is usually enough to keep me at the level of *eh... good enough*...

For myself, I've found that if I have a good chunk of counted Up Days here at home, it allows me to have completely free and very indulgent Free Days often enough that I really feel good about how I eat, and for quite a few years I didn't.

Good luck in getting those three sneaky pounds back off of you. I know that you will have that all attended to shortly.

Resurrecting our maintenance thread since I'm back in maint again after going back to strict rotations to lose 4 more pounds to 125 (lost 1 while I was maintaining).

It was interesting to read what I had done before. And to see that Cruzcrzy hit her lower bounce range too.

My plan for now is 800 cal DD's, 1500-1600 cal UD's, and both weekend days being UD's. That worked for me before, so we'll see how it goes.

Of course, tomorrow I've got plans to go to lunch with a friend and it should be a DD, but I'm not going to worry about it. We'll see where the calories fall based on where we go and what I end up getting. With my allergies, my meal options tend to be pretty basic, and therefore pretty low cal. It may just end up a MD, but if it goes all the way up, so be it. Thurs can be a DD.

So maintainers, join in and let's keep tabs on how it's going.

Tina, thanks for resurrecting this thread. Guess what I am 132-133 pretty consistently. I would like 133 to be my high weight. I am walking 4 plus miles per day, and still doing straight calorie counting. Maintenance is HARD, but, worth it. You sure are looking good!!! I miss my JUDDD BUD daily weight check in, but, it just didn't seem right to keep posting since I am not JUDDDing. Thanks again for resurrecting the thread!!

Good to see you again, Marie. You're doing great!!!

I'm not doing real JUDDD right now either, but I can't stay away from the forum, lol. They seem to let me hang around anyway.

Thanks Tina, for bringing this thread up from the murky depths, lol.
