Down another pound this morning. I love this maintenance mindset. Because the weight loss is a bonus, rather than a "finally!" kind of thing. When my expectation is that I'll stay the same weight, it's so much easier. Can I just say I'm maintaining until all this weight is gone?

Why not????

I'm glad maintenance is working so good for you.

It seems it is working for everyone, and isn't that great!!!

I'm sorry this is just a "drive by" post, but I have to run.

Absolutely Luna. Weight loss as an afterthought or bonus is so much sweeter than when you feel you really earned it, and darn it, why isn't it more?! LOL

I was planning a FD today since we had our homeschool banquet tonight and I was planning on a ton of food. But there wasn't as much there for me to eat as I thought there would be, so I'm short on my calories by about 200. I'm too full to eat more too. Bah. Need to prowl the kitchen and see what I can come up with.

Tina...am I right that FD is a free day? and do you still have a set amount you try to eat? Somehow I was thinking ya just don't count on a free day, but that wouldnt be right if you knew you needed to still have 200 cals. Doesn't take much to confuse me, or maybe a brain fart? Enlighten me would ya? Or maybe I'm just old and tired...la la la !!!

Tina when I need calories, (not often) I eat nuts. Actually I think I got that from you somewhere??

Anyway what did you eat? As I know eating enough is important also.

DD for me, I need to get some new ideals. Off to look at the DD food threads.

Later,

For me, a FD (free day) means I'm eating foods that would just be impossible to count (like at the grad party where there were lots of finger foods and I did a bunch of nibbling), or last night at the buffet, where I expected to have some of several different foods. Because of the type/amount of food, I pretty well know I will go over my cals, so don't count. And I make sure to eat normally at breakfast/lunch so I don't go into the event with a deficit to make up.

But last night, there just weren't many foods I could have, so I ended up counting when I got home, because I figured I wasn't where I needed to be, and was right. I've actually only had a few days where I didn't count at all (Easter was one, the grad party, and the 4 days I was at my Mom's on vacation).

So you aren't old and tired, I just wasn't clear because *I* am old and tired. ROFLOL.

Anna--I ended up having a protein shake with just almond milk and protein powder and another grain free vegan chocolate chip cookie. Nuts are usually my go to as well, I just wasn't in the mood for them.

Hungry this morning so didn't make it to lunch without eating. Actually had a small handful of almonds to tide me over. Planning cabbage/shrimp/sun dried tomatoes/Italian seasoning. Glad I'll be eating soon. LOL

Totally agree Phyl. Woke up this morning thinking, "today I EAT!" And it made me happy. LOL

Thinking about making fried catfish for supper tonight. The kids have been doing some fishing and it's been going very well. We have an abundance of fresh caught fish in the freezer.

Well, the fish is going to have to wait for another day. 2 of the kids aren't here for supper, and they'd be upset if we had a fish fry without them. So planning to broil some sirloin instead, with a sweet potato and green beans for sides.

That frees up a few calories so I can have a snack this afternoon, or when I get home after play practice.

Fish tonight, yes on a DD. If I just do stir fry veggies with it, my cals will come in around 555. So I can even have a slightly larger portion than the 3 oz I put in ***. Yippee!

How are all my maintainer JB's doing?

Having family over for a bday party for my oldest tomorrow. Can't believe he is going to be 19. Blows my mind how fast time goes. Glad it's going to be an UD. BBQ brisket, salads, fruit, green beans, potato casserole of some kind, and cake for everyone else (I can't have it due to blood sugar issues). I will have some of my coconut milk ice cream though.

I'm just plugging along. I'm actually hoping to weigh in tomorrow at the same weight. That will be 7 days in a row at the exact same weight to the 10th of a pound. How weird is that?!

Actually pretty cool Dawn. I think your body must like whatever it is you are doing. But I also wouldn't be surprised at all to see a drop soon.

I stay the same weight for a week or more, but I don't have a digital scale, so it could be off by tenths and I just don't know it.

Tina, I think I am doing pretty good considering so many life things like out of town for Mothers Day, and the wedding of a friend celebration, and several other social events, but toughest of all is still no real kitchen. Thinking it will be finished in a week or two now. Everything has taken longer than expected and it has been challenging to have successful DDs. I have done fair though and can't wait to easily grill a piece of chicken and steam veggies for some of my DDs. With the magic of JUDDD, I still lost a couple lbs. that I posted about and have stayed in a decent 2-3lb range of my lowest wt. either way. So, I am very happy and won't re-visit going a bit lower (if ever) until I can cook some in my own kitchen! Still fitting my smaller clothes nicely and am liking feeling contentment right now. That makes me a very blessed woman I'd say!

Just adding.....

Life is always going to be full of disruptions, so it is a really nice feeling to "see" this working so well for me and everyone, regardless of "life."

Simply can not beat this way of eating to stay where you want to be. Period.

So I just surpassed my goal weight this morning and posted about it in a different thread. That's where I got the invite to Maintenance Lane!

This is a new place for me! My whole life has pretty much been a struggle to lose weight... I made enough mistakes in the past that I worked myself up to 218 lbs... After several years of downs and ups and downs again on the scale, this morning I found 144.6... My goal was 145. I don't know how high I might bounce back up again or not, but I really hope I can remain within a pound or two above or below today's morning weight.

I think this new stage for me is hard to adjust to mentally. Stress over the scale has been such an unfortunately large part of my life. I think my first big step would be to stop weighing every day. I think UD bounces upwards could freak me out! I need to learn to relax. I have to find a new mindset...a Hakuna matata mindset... Only weighing after DDs would probably be a good start.

Since coming off HCG, I've been JUDDDing about 5 weeks with fairly high DDs (450-600) since I only had a few pounds I hoped to shed. I'm thinking I'll start letting myself drift up to 700, or maybe even 800. My UDs have been 1700-1800, and I'll stay there at least for now. The good part is I am a healthy weight, and even if I lost another 10 lbs, I'd still be healthy - so I won't fear the possibility of going down more. I do have this fear of the scale creeping up though... Hopefully that won't happen much and I can make my comfy home here on Maintenance Lane.

Hi everyone, and welcome IThinkICan. Wow you have done so well!

I'm just plugging along too. With the holiday here, and more food in the house to nibble on, this could get harder. But so far so good. Today is a UP day for me, so tomorrow a DD. But my college kid will be here, so we are grilling like every other American. So not sure what to do.

BUT I love the flex in JUDDD.....

Hope you all have a great week-end.

Phyl, so great that you can continue to maintain through all the stuff life is throwing your way right now.

Welcome, IthinkIcan.

Dawn, great to see that your patient persistence is paying off and the weight continues to slide slowly down.

I'm down another pound today. Looking forward to the benchmark of 168, which is the point at which I will no longer be obese on the BMI calculators. For the first time in heaven knows how long. Probably close to 25 years. So yeah, big milestone.

Loving JUDDD and loving the gifts it's giving me.

I'm here to even out the playing field... After my 3 lb drop that surpassed my goal, I was back up 1.5 lbs... though I had extra carbs on a DD (Sat) that I didn't intend to have... followed by an UD Sun... Then relatives invited us out to lunch today DD. It would've been fine too - Creole tilapia with zucchini and spaghetti squash was a fine lunch to have for low calories and carbs at Ruby Tuesday... but then my family stayed out the rest of the day and went to Golden Corral (of all places!) I tried to stick with mostly veggies and broiled fish with only light sauces and dressing... and stuck with sf jello, sf ice cream, and sf whipped topping for dessert, but I'm sure my newly adjusted 700 cal DD ended up being closer to a 1000 cal MD... I don't know if I wanna get on the scale in the morning!

Tomorrow - back to UD to keep the rotation going... and dh's grandfather, the chef, invited us to lunch tomorrow! Why all these occurrences on top of each other? At least it's an UD. Wed better be a nice, clean DD! I wonder how soon I'll get back down to that beautiful range below my goal weight again... Hmmm...

I do have to note strange occurrences tho - finally got some energy! Two hour car ride home this evening... Normally I'd plop on the couch and not wanna get up, but this time I immediately went for a walk outside - and would've kept going if it didn't become dark so soon! My pace is more than it used to be too - for sure! When I came home after my walk, I also felt weird tingling sensations on my legs - unfamiliar to me. I think I have to go drink some extra water now. I fear water retention from worked out muscles... Unless that tingling sensation could possibly be fat magically melting away... but I wouldn't count on it!

Don't worry overmuch about the bounces. Part of being here on Maintenance Lane is learning how to DO maintenance. To live with it and take those eating events that life throws at us in stride. And correct whatever happens as a result of them.

Enjoy your time with family, own whatever happens, and get back in the rotation with a clean dd as soon as you can. Juddd will fix it.

I think I've decided to do a week or 2 of 500 cal dd's to see if I can get 2-3 more pounds off so my bounce range is under 125. It messes with my head to see it bounce to 126-127. Even though I KNOW it's not 'real', and it will come back down. Plus if I lose 3 more pounds my total loss will be 30 pounds, and I like nice round numbers. LOL

I'll let you know how it goes. Today is a DD, and I have to do some rethinking about what to eat so I can stick to 500.

I don't think I've gotten to the carefree maintenance mindset yet... I'm in too much of a habit of panicking over small gains! I understand about the nicer numbers though... I think about 145 being a nicer number than 146... or if I get to 143, then I can like the idea of having lost a full 75 lbs! But if I get to 143, won't I think that 140 is such a nicer number? And if I get to 140, won't I think about how just two more pounds would put me into the 80 lbs lost club? Yeah... These number games could drive a person nuts!

LOL, yes the numbers are enticing, it is easy to get wrapped up in them. It makes me laugh when I feel disappointed at seeing a weight I would have killed for a year ago.

The bounces will continue, at least, they do for most of us, most of the time. But maintenance is not about just one number. You will soon relax and start to enjoy the wonderful confident feeling of having a body you love and a way of eating that gives so much pleasure.
