WTG Phyl on doing so great in maintenance!

I'm transitioning out of wlm and back into maintenance again. Will slowly raise my dd's to make sure I don't start gaining. Going for about 700 today.

Tomorrow will be a fd as my mom and her dh and my mil will be here to help me celebrate my birthday. We are cooking the turkey my oldest shot last week, and will have lots of fixings to go with it, plus cake. The meal itself will actually be very paleo (wild turkey, baked sweet potatoes, green beans, salad, paleo banana muffins). The cake, not so much. And knowing my MIL, she will probably make ice cream that my dd and I (allergic to milk) can have. If I could make it through church with no breakfast, I'd be tempted to make that my only meal of the day. I probably won't eat supper though.

Tina! Enjoy!!!

I'm sticking my toe into the maintenance waters. I'm not positive I want to stay at this weight forever, but I want to step out of diet mode for a while and just enjoy where I'm at. I've lost a good deal of weight already and I think maybe I just want to rest and "relax into the body I have now" to quote Tina.

I will probably go back into weight loss mode at some point to drop a little lower, but not for now.

As suggested in another thread, I'll be raising my DD calories slowly. My DD yesterday (well, now two days ago, as it's past midnight where I am) was just about 700 calories. I will keep them there for the next week or so and then see if I want to raise them again. UDs are pretty manageable at around 1800 calories, so I think I'll leave them there and just use the wiggle room on the DDs, since those are the most difficult for me right now.

Luna, welcome to the maintenance lane! I know exactly how you feel. I have said all along I could always put myself back in WLM if I decide to go a little lower, but for now am enjoying being here and the clothing I had to buy to keep living!! Can't go around NEKKID!!! So thrillin to see another BUDD get here!!

Thanks Phyl. I think you and I are the only ones awake on this board right now.

I have a question. In maintenance, do you still weigh every day? Or should it be once a week? I weigh every day right now, but I just wonder what maintainers do.

Luna, welcome to maintenance!!!!!!!!!!! How exciting for you. I think you are making the right decision for awhile.

Happy Birthday, Tina.

My update is about the same as I posted mid month. These past few days I have been at 130. At this point, I am trying not to lose any more weight. WHO WOULD HAVE EVER THOUGHT?

Luna, I weigh daily.

Hello Everyone,

I never post over here but I am in maintance. My weight bounces along the way and I have been as low as 167 and as high as 177 and my high usually after my ud's that are on Fri and Sunday but I also realize through the bounces that alcohol plays a role in that and I also found out the it has a different affect on me then it did in the past. I don't enjoy it as much and I can't drink as much as I use to and also sometime I have a bad taste in my mouth the next day and thats even when a drink wine. I don't drink alot when I do drink it is mayble 1 margarita or 2 or maybe a lemon drop with vodka. So from this point on there will not be alot of drinking in my future just don't like how I feel. Note that I always get back to the the rotation after an high weight bounce and it always comes off. My dd's are between 800-1000 and my ud's are between 1800-2100.

Good to see you popping in KJ. I love reading how everyone makes this work for them. The magic of a couple of good DDs is extraordinary.

Luna, to Maintenance. Jump right in and enjoy.

I weigh almost daily, but I am occasionally too much of a coward after and UUAD.

Luna, I'm late in here again! I don't weigh daily, but never have. Usually every two weeks or maybe even just once a month. I am so very careful with my calories everyday that I am confident about staying where I am supposed to be (and even losing ounces along the way) Only been in maintenance 3 weeks though. I don't know if I will ever go the route of a really low DD and then a FD. I never HAVE wanted to go below 500 on DDs. For now I am doing approx 800-900 DD and 1800-1900 UDs. I'm sure there will always be exceptions and I'm okay with that too cause I know exactly what to do!! My new clothes fit great ( some even a little looser) and I am so happy these days. This way of life has literally changed who I am!! AND....If the day comes that I want to drop a little lower, I know what to do about that too!!

Luna,

I weigh every day only because it's so ingrained in me, and if the numbers are up, it doesn't bother me as it did many months ago.

I still like to know how certain foods affect my body, and I've learned that the foods that used to affect me negatively don't affect me as much since I've been on JUDDD. Now, that's a real plus!!
My biggest enemy still remains, though, and that is sodium!!!

I pretty much know if I'm going to be up, but am always surprised when it's down to a level I've not seen before. Maybe that isn't a happy day?!

Maintenance is fun!

Welcome to maintenance! The wonderful thing about JUDDD (well one of them) is how easy it is to slip between maintenance and wlm. There's no change of foods, just changes in amounts.

I like the extra cals on my DD's too, since I often have trouble eating to my UD cals as it is.

And I weigh daily--actually twice daily. It's kind of a game. I like weighing at night to see how the day's food affected me, and then trying to predict my morning weight. I'm usually right on.

That truly is a remarkable feeling. It seems my entire adult life I've been trying to lose something, whether 'just 5 pounds', or a lot. To not have any more weight I need to lose is amazing.

Hey KJ! Nice to see you pop in. You are doing a great job with maintenance! Interesting on the alcohol effects changing.

I was down a bit on the scales today too, after an up day which included french fries and frozen custard (and a long hard bike ride, lol). 170.0 today.

I haven't figured out what my range will be, I don't want to go up over 181, really hope to stay below 180 but the bounces might get me there. I'm really hoping for a slow drop but won't be upset if I stay right in this range. Keeping my DDs at 700 for the next week or so and then will re-evaluate whether to leave them there (700 is about a 40% level for me, so still weight loss mode). But thus far I've been happy at 700, I can give myself permission to eat at this level and not feel deprived at all. So if the weight continues to drop slowly, I'm a happy camper. If it doesn't, that's all good too. Then I know what my maintenance numbers are.

I can't tell you what a difference it's made to me knowing that I can step out of the weight-loss mindset and into maintenance! I feel so much more relaxed about this whole thing now. Who knew? Well, I guess you did, and all the other maintainers, it's not like it's been a secret.

I just haven't felt this free about food in a long long time.

I am so truly happy for you Luna that you made the decision you made.

I know exactly from where you come, because I've been in the same place a few months back when I decided I wanted to maintain, and maintain I did.

Actually, I've gone back and forth from wlm to maintenance on a few occasions! I'm not in any particular hurry to get to a lower number on the scale, and the emotional freedom I've felt for these last few months is........well......I can't even think of an appropriate word to describe the feeling, but you sure do understand that feeling now.

I say that I'm in maintenance and I am at this point in time.

If and when I decide I want to go lower, then, lower I will go. Of course for me, it would be vanity lbs., so the ride has become oh, so smooth and void of any stress.

Your posts are reflecting a relaxed attitude, and I am so happy that we are on a program that allows this flexibility.

Welcome Leonak! Said it before, I'll say it again, so happy to have you on ML with us!

Yesterday turned into a MD so I could enjoy my birthday dinner. No cake, just yummy food. Scale stuck at 125, so no harm done. UD today, and I have around 600 cals for supper.

Luna, I am so happy to read how switching to maint has affected you mentally. It really does sound like exactly what you needed right now.

Sazzie, nice to hear your perspective of maint too. It mirrors my own. There is just something so freeing about knowing that I'm fine right where I am, but if I want to lose a couple more (and for me it would totally be vanity too) I could do so without much trouble, simply by dropping those dd cals again.

And Kissa, wtg on getting right back into your maintenance range. Nice work. How is your FIL? Have you found a place for him to go after hospital?

Thanks Tina for the Welcome!

Today, my first here was good, but after my last meal of the day I hit a bit over 1700 and now feel uncomfortable too

The JUDD site said now a DD # for me should be 900, but, but, should I try for 700

I know the relaxed feeling, had it yesterday and today until I had dinner that is

Eh, 1700 isn't that much, really. I think you should go ahead with your DD as planned. Part of 'doing' maintenance is to find out what your body can handle calorie-wise. I've been stunned by the scale and actually LOST after higher UD's. It's almost like the metabolism goes into hyperdrive to deal with the extras.

Okay...I am so excited! I posted that I hoped I would lose a bit more maintaining too, like so many others. Well, I reported my 1/2 lb. loss a couple of weeks ago, and am now happy to report a new low after about another 1/2lb. gone. This is exactly what I hoped would happen!!! The main reason being that I went into maintenance on the high end of the range I want to stay in. Anyway, it sure made for a happy happy UD today!!
