Not counting for me has the opposite problem, not eating enough calories, even though the ones I was eating weren't necessarily great. My week of not counting looked like this (and by not counting I mean not planning, I just added it all up at the end of the day): 973, 1220, 1049, 1606, 881, 1474, 664 and 1400ish. So even though I felt stuffed and gross, it was bloat from stuff that was bad for me (because of intolerance/allergy issues), not necessarily heavy in calories.

Yesterday was a great DD, and the bloat is gone. Feeling back to myself again.

I'll probably do this once a quarter or so--just seems I need a week to remind me why it's worth it to keep up the effort. I can be a bit dense sometimes. LOL

I did a guesstimate on my calories yesterday as I ate at Wagamama for lunch.

I couldn't find the dish I had on any of the cal counting sites so I chose a similar one and added a bit to allow for chilli oil. I felt so full afterwards that I didn't eat in the evening, although I did drink wine. Why aren't any of you surprised?

Anyway I didn't bounce at all after it although I am guessing it was very high sodium. (Soy sauce was added)

Enjoying my DD and looking at my chart I have been between 123 and 125 for months except for a short bounce after the Jubilee Weekends.

I think this is what maintenance means. Like real people live.....

That is so great Cindy. Yes, maintenance that allows you to relax and LIVE is wonderful. There isn't that, 'oh, I had a nice dinner with my family, now I have to pay for it for the next 2 weeks' that happens with just about everything else. Even a week's vacation can be handled in a few rotation cycles.

And you are such a tremendous role model on how to LIVE in maintenance. And it's even more helpful that you've had the Jubilees, and family events that took you off plan, bumped you up a bit, and then settled right back to goal range afterwards.

What's not to love?

Leaving today on another camping trip. I AM going to have DDs on this trip, no more skipping the rotation for me. I've also found out the campground has wifi, so I can log onto *** and log my foods each day. Yay!

So I'll be MIA for the next few days, more so than usual, that is. Although with wifi I might swing by for a moment, won't want to wear down my phone battery too much though.

Wishing you all well and happy rotations! Have fun! Mwah!!

I heart chili... Just had to say it! The bulk of my chili is half meat and half zucchini/yellow squash. On DDs I love it on a bed of cooked cabbage with a little light sour cream, and on UDs I might have it covered in oozing melted cheese and sour cream. I find myself making a bunch and picking at it for meals and snacks over the course of several days. Yummmmmmy!

Glad everyone seems to be doing relatively well. My DD immediately following my less-than-healthy UD sequence actually brought me to a new low of 144.2! That was the DD I ate a slice of Domino's. Then I went right back up to 145-pt-something for several days... And even saw 146 after my UD yesterday with two slices of Domino's! So now I think I know my limit - one slice of Domino's at a time! Lol! They really need to stop their 50% off online order special... I need to do my own cooking! (More than my weekly vat of chili, I mean.)

Keep on keeping on, JUDDD Buddds! Enjoy life on Maintenance Lane!

Hi Buddds, I'm so happy to be joining you here in maintenenceI choose the 50% mode but I don't really know what the difference is between this and the higher percentage choices are. It feels so crazy to actually be at goal weight. I might want to go a little lower but for now I just want to be happy, accepting of my body and relax. It's been quite awhile since I've been comfortable in my own body and I have yet to really step back and enjoy it. I'm still wearing my xxxlge sweats around the house. Tonight I'm putting them away and taking out my cute Victoria's Secret sweats that finally fit me again. I couldn't have done it without all my beautiful Buddds

Yay, Vanessa!! Welcome to maintenance!!

I'm back from camping, scale says the same weight as when I left, 173. That works for me. I had some major water-retention issues while I was gone, probably a combination of being outside in the warm days (I'm usually more of an air-conditioning girl myself) and not wanting to drink too much, especially in the evening, as middle-of-the-night bathroom visits are a bit more involved when you're sleeping in a tent. So I think I'm still holding water. Ankles and feet are a bit puffy yet.

But we had a nice time despite me getting a tick. We're home for a day and a half, then off to Kansas City to visit my older two kids and some friends. Then we'll be back on Thursday.

What a jet-setting life I'm leading. It's nice having so much time with DH. We're talking and dreaming about what comes next in our lives. We really want to go abroad at least for a short visit. I want to go to someplace exotic and teach English for a year, DH is more thinking backpacking in Europe. Staying in hostels, that sort of thing. I'm up for whatever adventure we come up with. Who knows?

Glad to see you're enjoying your great adventure and pondering the next leg of it. Every idea you mentioned sounds pretty cool and exciting to me.

Have fun in KC! Eat some good BBQ for me, please. I'm considered a heretic down here because I still haven't found a BBQ joint that I think passes muster. Guess I was just spoiled living in KC for 40+ years.

My best to you always!

Sheridan I'm the same as you. I actually had my first BBQ when I lived in Houston and never really liked it, I like the KC style BBQ sauces that are molasses based (of course I do, never pass up a chance for sugar, lol). Texas BBQ sauce just doesn't cut it for me.

What's your favorite place? Most of mine in KC are not in KC, there's one called Bank BBQ, about an hour outside of KC, that is located in an old historic bank building right next to the railroad tracks, makes me think of the Whistle Stop Cafe in Fried Green Tomatoes. Yummy.

Our big culinary treat is pizza when we go to KC. Our son owns a Wheat State Pizza and makes the best pizza and crust! Crust is made from scratch and the toppings are always fresh and pretty interesting! Lots of artichoke hearts, fresh spinach and the like! DS invented a s'mores pizza that is to die for!! Good thing we're going on an up day, lol. We always plan it that way.

No offense to Houston but I don't consider them a BBQ city. Central Texas has some fabulous ones. Llano, Lexington, Giddings and many more have all been featured in national magazines. These are family owned one of a kind places.
Back to the regular scheduled programming.
When we have to go visist only son this next year, I am anxious to check out the other states versions of BBQ.

Coaches always know the best BBQ in all parts of Texas. I think they spend more time on their coaching forums finding a BBQ place close to wherever their team is playing than finding out stats. And my DH is a coach so we keep up with the best BBQ joints. usually small and out of the way with a rabid following.

Adi, I know what you mean about the best places being little hole in the wall kind of places. I feel the same about Mexican food, the best places with the best food look like you'd never want to eat there.

Sorry for jacking this thread beyond all recognition. Back to your regularly scheduled maintenance.

Thanks I feel very welcome here. Yesterday was my first maintenance UD. OMG, it felt like all I did the entire day and into the evening was eat. Since I tend to choose lower calorie foods by habit it felt like I got to have everything I desired. I woke up today for my DD still quite satisfied and so far it's been a very easy DD. Just knowing that I don't have to eat 1,200 cal a day for the rest of my life to maintain is such a blessing. Instead of desperate housewives I think they should give us a show. Maintenance housewives, we are definitely an interesting enough bunch of "girls" lol

Okay, I'm joining you beautiful women. I'm not sure I'm ready psychologically for it , but I'm here. And slightly nervous that just by saying this aloud, I'm messing with a good thing. I swear, I am just getting the hang of Juddd now, after 8 or 9 weeks.

I'll get over this. Just blabbing my way through it.
Once again, I'm certain that every success, every pound lost on this board happens because of the support and love the people who hang out here. Thank you very, very much for helping me find my way.

Haven't been around much. Trying to be more present 'in the moment', and not online so much. But I wanted to report that I've seen 124 twice in the past 3 days, which is a new low for me. YAY! Not doing much of anything special, just rotating ud/dd. UD's in the past week have been 1560, 1672, and 1594. DD's 602, 749 and 655.

This is pretty much what happened after I took the week off and went to my mom's and just ate whatever whenever, then came home and got back into rotations. The week off seems to shake things up a bit, even though I'm not necessarily eating over my UD cals, or even up TO them sometimes. Just a week of zigzagging, then back to rotation, and voila.

Whatever, I'll take it!

Tina this is so lovely to read. Maintenance holds so much fear on many 'diets'. Here on JUDDD we thrive and some of us, like me, need to avoid additional losses. Who'd have believed it?

I had Chinese yesterday... haven't had that in over a year! LOL! I had beef with broccoli, some rice, and even an egg roll (and I didn't feel like I had to pick stuff out of it and leave the skin on the plate!) I had also made some coconut flour chocolate cake that was just decent by itself, but it paired really well with some raspberry puree - along with some ice cream, chocolate sauce, and whipped cream. I am in absolute maintenance heaven!

It's a DD today, but I've managed to budget well enough for more of that delicious chocolate-raspberry cake a la mode!

I love JUDDD! And I love maintenance!

And I love you all, my dear, sweet JUDDD BUDDDs!

(I've never been so happy before during my TOM!)

Hi JUDDD Buds, It's great to see everyone doing so well.

I'm posting this in the June general chat thread too since more people check it, I think....

I stopped weighing daily. Haven't weighed daily since around the beginning of this month. I don't want to think about weight so much anymore.

I get on the scale now and then to make sure I'm maintaining properly and I am. I was 138# one day pre-Tom and back to 136# this morning, so still hanging out in the range I set months back. It confirms I don't have to weigh myself daily - my body is happy in this range, happy with the way I eat and with what I eat, and so I trust it to not need me looking over its shoulder and micromanaging it all the time. (I only say this as an individual in maintenance, and what seems best for me alone - not to weigh daily.) I probably should have taken this attitude more during WLM too, but at that time I was so driven to lose as fast as I could and therefore set myself up for frustrations and disappointment. I had put a lot of pressure on myself during WLM and let the scale dictate my mood daily... But during the my 7 months of maintenance, I've gradually weaned myself off it.

Maintaining my range without daily weighing and calorie counting has also let me confirm that I am now eating in a way that requires no thought or calorie counting anymore, at least while I'm eating at home with my same foods. This has to do with trusting my body and its appetites and normal fluctuations too. I tend to naturally stick to my dd/FD type of routine but anymore I don't even really think of how I eat as "DDs" and "FDs" or anything to do with actual diet. It's just my normal everyday woe, just comes naturally.

I eat a lot of the same types of foods from day to day when I'm at home (proteins, variety of veggies and fruits) and so I don't have to think too much about calories. Although I don't count calories, sometimes I do estimate when I look back over my food log, and that's how I see that I naturally eat the "dd/FD" way (which for me is less than 800 calories in the day and then FD eating after 5 p.m., which I still think of as my cut-off between "dd" and "FD".

I think my daily calories are probably in a fairly consistent range from day to day (not a huge calorie swing between days most of the time) but I do usually eat only one larger meal per day, so it's still kind of F5ish and a couple times per week it's a bit MUDDDy. Now and then I have a full "FD" due to get-togethers, dining out and stuff.

I am still combining some Perricone and Wahl principles together, with anything else I find that works for me. I have protein before anything else. Pretty much daily I have proteins and also try to have fish as one of those daily proteins (sardines, salmon), and veggies including leafy greens, along with berries & other fruits, beans, evoo, almonds and other nuts, water, tea, wine, sometimes coffee, sometimes breads (good ones) and other starches.

I would say my day is 80% "healthy" foods, and would say the same for my overall diet week to week. I still have my indulgences (sometimes daily) and don't feel guilt about it, I just limit portions.

I take 2 carb blocker capsules (Carb Intercept by Natrol) now when I have something like burritos, pizza, spaghetti, more than 1 slice bread, etc. and I think it helps. I don't seem to get tired after eating carby foods anymore. I think it helps with next morning bloat too if I have something carby in the evening. I feel no side effect from it.

I've been working on things I'd let go outside of the forum - projects and interests that I'm getting back into, which is cool. I still check in though I'm not very active on LCF lately. Maybe I will jump in from time to time, and perhaps get more active again here as summer winds down.

I can't believe that was a year ago I started trying to lose weight. What a journey since then, from vLC to JUDDD to other types of IF and to the foods I eat now. It was a process and I learned a lot from each thing.

I still own my gall bladder though I admit, there are a few days I wonder about that decision. (It's not gallstones, but biliary dyskinesia with a 35% ejection fraction). Usually my GB purrs along except around Tom, and then it's not a happy camper over anything. Otherwise it's pretty calm except if I eat too much fat like I did this morning, eating eggs and drenching my toast in a lot of evoo. But I'm still doing what I can diet/lifestyle and taking supps for liver and GB. I'm intent on waiting to see how I get along in the coming weeks/months. It's already improved so much. In April I was sick at least 20 days out of the month, and with the change in diet since then, I've only had 3 sick days in June. Either what I'm doing is helping or it's just a type of remission. Time will tell. But if it gets bad don't worry, I won't be stubborn and I will have the surgery.

Just wanted to say "hi" and give an update from maintenance world. I miss and you all! Welcome to the new Buds too.

So nice to read all of these wonderful posts! My life this month had lots of ups and downs - anniversary, a wedding, company for 5 days , now a funeral - I am full of excuses as to why I have not been a good girl with my maintain plan! Scale is up about 3 # - all in the tummy too!

I did read of some here that now have more calories on UD, I do not, did I figure wrong I have the same calories on UD but more on DD, does that sound correct?

Also, since I gained 3 #, should I just continue on and hope for the best, or

I am making sour-dough rye bread today, do we have any other bread bakers here?

Hope to read more about you all here!
