Anyone Else NOT Get appetite Supression on Juddd?

I have been judding for nearly 5 and a half months now, and maintaining at my goal for about 3 months.

I have noticed that I dont have what I would view as "appetite supression" as mentioned by so many here.

I never feel not hungry on DD's...or not like eating on UD's!

I can now, after several weeks of gradually working up to it, quite easily go to 6pm on a DD, without eating...but am very hungry for my 500 cals by then...and have had several hunger pangs and tummy rumbles during the day...and enjoy every calorie!

The difference is, now, I am not afraid of being hungry, I can feel it, and know that it will pass...and that my food will taste all the more delicious for having waited.

Forget to eat? Not me...I look forward to eating!

Each UD (or, as I normally do FD) is looked forward to with anticipation, and I eat lots...of anything I desire...and enjoy every mouthful...I have never had the burden of not being able to "make my calories"!

In a way, i am not surprised....i did get appetite supression on LC....but no weightloss...so i suppose it makes sense that I dont get it with Juddd...but I do get weightloss!

I know which I prefer...a bit of hunger every other day is much easier to live with, than being overweight every day!

hugs
Jo

Mine seems to come and go. Some DDs are a breeze, and others are a bit more challenging. The hunger's there, it's just not something that makes me panic. I think you make a very valid point, though, that I've learned that it will diminish if I don't give in to it.

I have had maybe 2 UDs in 2 months where I had to work to get up to my UD calories. The rest, if I eat the way I normally would (drive throughs and convenience foods--which is exactly how I got fat!), I would be over calories. And I get a bunch of calories on UDs.

Thanks for sharing Jo!

I'm funny. I don't get all that hungry on DDs (coffee is my favorite appetite suppresant), but by the UD-after my tummy begins growling and grumbling so you can hear it across the room!

And I still feel dread when a DD begins, until I realize halfway through the morning that while I'm hungry it's not the knock-you-down-and-shove-food-in-your-mouth hunger I had on high-carb plans, but rather a quiet, mannerly tap-tap-tapping as if to say "Um, excuse me, but did you forget to feed me this morning?"

I can't say that I'm to the point of not wanting to eat or having to force myself to get the calories in, but I'm not starving either. It's interesting because I have had DD when I've said, "I feel good--not hungry at all" and then my stomach will let out this huge, loud, prolonged growl. My girls will look at me like "What was that?" I'm noticing that I am not as obsessed with food (reading the daily menus, scouring the recipe threads) as I was in the first days. Does that make sense?

As I recall, I had less appetite suppression (AS) at first on JUDDD, and that could have either been because the "AS" hadn't kicked in yet or simply because I was eating way more carbs, especially refined carbs when I started.

In the last few months, I've noticed overall good AS, but is that due to it "kicking in" from JUDDD or is that I have gravitated back to lowER to mod. carb foods for the most part?

Because I had excellent AS most of the time when I was just doing LC.

But since going a little lower - moderate carb on JUDDD, I also notice I don't feel like snacking between meals. I eat, get full, remain full for at least 4 hours sometimes 6 or more. Repeat.

When I first started JUDDD I snacked more. Again, the quantity of refined carbs or just my body has simply adjusted and getting the AS from JUDDD?

Just sharing my thoughts.

Now I stay pretty satiated all the time with how I eat, except the dreaded hormonal hunger, which I have been experiencing since yesterday.

While I'm OK on DD's, I wouldn't say I'm not hungry. I generally only eat after I get home from work on DD's, and let me tell you: when I walk in the door, don't get between me and the 500 calories!

Yesterday was my first UD where I adhered closely to my UD limit, and I am not too sure about that. I think I am going to have to find a middle ground between limiting my UD's to 1700 and just going hog wild. I found that 1700 just wasn't enough. OTOH, I got yesterday off to a bad start by eating something really caloric early in the morning, before I decided I really needed to do only 1700, and then I had to make up for it all day.

I think tomorrow on my next UD, I'll plan a little better. (No chocolate malted milk balls before breakfast! )

But the concept of "not being able to eat enough" is foreign to me.

After doing DDs for a length of time, I became a great deal better at doing them at a nice low numbers that really help promote weight loss, and having some diminished appetite from JUDDDing came into play there.

I usually speak of what happens for us after being on JUDDD for awhile as having our appetites *normalized*... being returned to a *normal* appetite response, which I think is a healthy thing to have happen to our bodies.

I think that is much different than having appetite suppression. Particularly since so many of us eat at a higher carb level on JUDDD than we did previously on other plans, especially low carb plans, and some of our choices are downright high carb choices like breads and desserts, candy and crackers, etc.

I expect most of us should experience pretty normal appetites and appetite response after we've been eating this way for awhile. Fasting can help suppress the appetite for some, but undoubtedly not all, and this may vary among us. Learning how to manage our own DDs is the biggest help, as far as when to start eating, and what foods to make your meals from.

I get some appetite suppression from JUDDD, but mostly just a normal response to food now.

While it's definitely not every day that I feel like I have appetite suppression and am not hungry, there are enough days since I've been doing JUDDD where I don't feel much like eating (this is both DDs and UDs) that it really surprises me.

I'm one of those that had never gotten appetite suppression though with just low carb or even vlc. I also still eat fairly low carb now while doing JUDDD (and might be considered vlc by some people), though I do have my wild 100-150g+ of carbier days once in a while. I've found that those much higher carb days haven't lead to more hunger for me either later in the day or the next day, thankfully. There are a few days pre-TOM that I seem to always just be hungry for though, but besides that I seem to be ok for the most part.

Since week four I have 100 calories of hwc with coffee in the mornings and rarely get hungry before about 03:00, DD or UD. If I do get hungry then, it is the polite hate-to-bother-you kind of twinge that fades away with water or tea.

But then every couple of weeks, total absolute I AM STARVING hits mid-morning and refuses to go away. Those days I keep calories appropriate to the day, but I eat a lot. I usually drop at least half a pound on those days, so I figure my body is doing something that just requires more energy/sustenance. Or maybe it is just wants some serious attention.

I have it!! I am never hungry on DDs until I start to eat and most days this is hours after I have gotten up, but even then I still go below my DD calories now without even trying most DDs. I have that JUDDD appetite suppression by the truck load on my DDs!

UDs/FDs are another story! I'm hungry on these days from the minute I get up, and most days it's like this. I just want to eat on my UDs and always have!!

Then, like magic the next DD is no hunger at all!!

see--my AS comes mostly on my UDs--I am hungry when I start eating, but get filled up much more rapidly and feel much fuller on less food--I am aware of "needing" to eat on DDs, but I can use very low calorie foods to satisfy that need. By the time dinner comes along, I am much less hungry--but at both 11am and 3pm I need something in my tummy. Fortunately coffee, shiritaki noodles, salad, or a very low OMM do the trick.

I am on day 20 and feeling no pain on DDs. It is almost euphoric!
By that I mean, I have fasted for medical appts and even for special diet plans, but never felt this before. It is a good feeling or sense of well being!

I don't know if I have true AS - I do get hungry on DD - but just tell myself that I won't die from it!!

Today is going to be a challenge - because although I ate my UD cals yesterday - I had quite a light dinner (ie I'll be eating the same thing today!) - this is going to make today difficult!!!

I am at the end of a DD of around 350 calls and yes, I am hungry. But I will sleep, wake unhungry, go to the gym, enjoy a Zumba class and eat at around midday tomorrow.

I can live with hunger, I love the JUDDD rhythm.

I am one who can fast several days and not really feel hunger so DDs are easy for me. I will even have 2 DDs in a row if I need an UD to fall out of place. Maybe because I did some extreme dieting in the past.

On Juddd it is better to have two UD than two DD in a row. I have not reached that point yet, because I just alternate every day. If I need to make a DD an UD, I just make the very next day a DD.

Evenings are my toughest on DD and particularly if I stay up late. I found out that if I use a peppermint herbal mouth spray, that it helps to take my find off the hunger or a snack. Keeping myself busy also does. Too bad a glass of wine isn't acceptable on dd.

I don't get total appetite suppression but its like juddd has made it manageable. I can ignore it pretty easily. I get hungry in the morning but its easy to get past it. I have found if I can make it til 1030 then I don't even get hungry again until the afternoon. I was going all day with just some broth and then eating in the evening, not good. I was shaky, felt drugged almost and was not a very nice person snf it didn't matter with my weight so I'm going yo go back to having something during the day. Protein shake and yogurt for tomorrow.

Sunday I have had wine on a DD. If my cals were low I have a glass. I actually like having a glass on DDs because you really get a buzz since you haven't eaten much...lol

I just have to be careful to limit it because too much will stimulate appetite. But if figured into the day's calorie allowance, it can be a nice treat.
