I've made some decisions
Some of this has been posted in bits and pieces in various threads, I just needed to put it in one place.

--I'm in maintenance. :jumpjoy: My goal I set for myself last August was 130 pounds, and I've been there for the past 7 weigh-in's. If I lose a couple more, fine, but I'm officially NOT trying to lose weight for the first time in a VERY long time. My total lost is 22 pounds.

--I'm back on paleo. No grains, no refined sugars, no potatoes, no dairy. My body simply can't handle it. Maybe someday, maybe not. I'd rather live eating this way than needing insulin someday. I will likely have a bite of birthday cake every now and then, but it'll be a once a month thing, if that.

--I'm focusing now on exercise and getting fit/toned/strong.

--I plan to stick with JUDDD, but I'm going to start tweaking calories a bit. Bumping DD's to 600-650 for now. UD's will stay at 1500-1600. After a couple weeks, if I'm still maintaining at 130, I'll see about 700 DD's. If that is stable, I'll try to bump the UD's a bit.

Ok, I feel better getting that out of my head. LOL

:jumpjoy: I've been wanting to congratulate you for making goal for a long time now! :jumpjoy: :shake: :high5: WTG! That's a wonderful accomplishment and pounds lost! You've done very well and are in tune with yourself, not only lost the weight but staying healthy too. Your plan sounds good to me. Enjoy maintenance, and who knows, more weight might come off over time. Glad you are sticking with JUDDD, I would miss you if you left. :hugs:

Congratulations, Tina! That is so wonderful! I think the only time I can ever think I was not trying to lose weight was when I was pregnant. Other than that, ALL THE TIME! What a thrilling statement!

It sounds like you have a great plan! So happy for you!

So pleased Tina, you have worked hard for this. :)

Jbinme 02-09-2012 03:45 PM

Tina-you have been and continue to be an inspiration to me. We are almost the same height and my goal weight is 130. I can see that it can be done and won't take too long. Great job! :hugs:

KathyL 02-09-2012 05:33 PM

Good for you Tina!

I'm not really sure what I'm doing anymore. LOL Technically, I don't need to lose more weight. But I still have some fat I would love to get rid of. Exercising is not doing it. And my method of maintenance wasn't so great which is why I'm giving this JUDDD thing a try.

mykidsteacher 02-09-2012 05:41 PM

Thanks all! It is amazing what a shift that decision made in my thinking. I didn't expect that.

Eieio--if you want to read more about primal eating, one of the best sites I've found is Mark's Daily Apple. The focus is on whole foods, less processed, leans toward organic and grass-fed. No grains, no refined sugar. It does allow some honey and maple syrup (real), and fruit. So it isn't low carb necessarily. Some people do potatoes, some just sweet potatoes. I can't handle the sugar or potatoes, though, so I usually stay between 30-60grams. It really agrees with me to eat this way.

Kathy--I have fat I want to get rid of too (mainly around my middle). I'm hoping the Primal Blueprint Fitness Mark Sisson outlines on his blog will help me with that.

And I do plan to keep posting and reading here. Y'all are a great source of information, and inspiration. I'm sure I will encounter bumps and questions through maintenance too.

Congrats! I look forward to learning from your Paleo plan. It sounds like it may be the best for me too. I would have a tough time giving up the dairy, because butter is one of my fav.

mykidsteacher 02-09-2012 08:24 PM

Well, if you read on Mark's Daily Apple, he says the goal is 80%/20% (keep to the plan 80%, and you are doing very well). So maybe butter could be a planned deviation for you.

I do have butter sometimes, and even have cheese a couple times a week. But I think I need to stop that. Will know for sure when I get the results of the allergy panel I just sent blood off for yesterday. My inflammation markers are still higher than the doc would like, and he is suspecting food allergies might be the culprit. I KNOW I have issues with dairy, I just thought if I only did a little, and not very often, it might be ok.

They also make a distinction between high fat dairy, like butter and hwc, and regular dairy.

tiva 02-09-2012 10:03 PM

My understanding from Mark's Daily Apple is that grass-fed, high-fat cheeses (from raw milk, if you can find them) are fine in reasonable amounts, and so are pastured butter and cream. This means kerrygold butter and cheeses are good, and now that Organic Valley is moving towards pastured dairy, their cream is a good choice as well.

And St Andre's triple cream brie is wonderful! Of course, my idea of a reasonable amount is probably not Mark's idea. I can make my way through an entire hunk of a good brie even before I've gotten the car out of the Trader Joe's parking lot.

gotsomeold 02-10-2012 03:48 AM

Triple cream brie! Just the description has me panting.

Tina, I hope those allergy tests help you pin-point what is going on. Food allergies and unexplained inflammation markers are very disturbing.

Thanks for the info Tina! I am going to start reading. :)

Tiva, so you are also following Paleo & Juddd?

theredhead 02-10-2012 08:16 AM

I want to add my congratulations here, Tina. I've been trying to lose those last few pounds for years, so to finally be in a place where I'm actually only maintaining is so liberating. Enjoy the freedom!

kel7298 02-10-2012 08:59 AM

Congratulations Tina!!
