When measuring calories in meat....

...do you get the calorie count before or after you cook it?? Most packages have the count in the nutrition guide, but not if it's cooked or not. Thanks!

Typically, it's before you cook it. But many calorie databases tell you if it's the cooked weight or the raw weight.

Thanks!

oo maybe I wont have to start a new thread. How do you account for the bones? Say I want bake up some chicken wings for example.

I think most chicken wing counts would be with bones - same for thighs - unless it said otherwise.

Do you use My Fitness Pal, or something similar? You can put in all sorts of configurations and normally get what you need.

I've tried to use different ones, but I just haven't had much luck with doing it. I need to allocate about a week to figure it out!! I continue to guestimate. But with meat, there's a pretty big difference in the amount 'before' and 'after' cooking. What started as 5 servings (ground turkey) ended up at about 3... which is why I started the thread. Seems like we're NOT going to eat it raw, so it SHOULD be an 'after' count.
