Whaddya think? 650?

They have these ginormous apple fritters at school. I got one after my algebra
test. For reference, the plate is 9" wide. So what's your best guess for calories?
I was trying to get to a higher calorie count earlier in the day, so I would have a
chance at getting all my calories in at a reasonable hour. I also had a soft pretzel
for 160 cals mid-afternoon, and a Reuben planned for this evening. I will still need
a few calories, but will have most of my food out of the way by 6 (hopefully).

I would think more like 1000 calories, minimum. YUM...looks good. ENJOY!

It's hard to judge from a picture, but it looks like it would be about 6 inches across or so, and any time you have a pastry that is half a foot, you've got some calories there! You've had a carby day today, and I expect this would add in at least another 600 calories of carbs. At least. Just hard to tell how thick the roll is, and quite how much sugar it might have too. It looks like it is glazed. And I expect it is a dense, compact type of sweet roll, as opposed to the kind that are all light and airy, but so light there isn't a lot of calorie dough making up the thing. This roll looks fairly heavy and dense. And also looks pretty yummy.

Seriously, do you think I can count this as 1000? That would make finishing up
my calories sooooo easy. Yep, I did have way too many carbs, but I haven't had
an apple fritter since last quarter, and figured it would use up a good chunk of my
calorie allowance. So maybe just my Reuben for 400 calories, and I'm done?
BTW, it takes about 45 minutes to finish this off (with a medium coffee). It is
over an inch thick in places, but not an inch and a half, and yes, it is glazed.

Well, actually, I was thinking of coming over and sharing that with you. I haven't had an apple fritter in ages either. Lordy, it sounds absolutely delicious. Not the thing that I can have all that often, but I thank JUDDD that I can have things like this and remain perfectly on plan!

Well, maybe 1000 is a bit of an overestimate. I just went to Fit Day and it lists at Mrs. Paul's apple fritter for 200 calories. I would imagine it is something that is pretty average size. Yours is probably more as you calculated, 650, maybe 800 max.

This is where I got the idea to call it 650...

LaMar's Donuts Apple Fritter contains 650 calories per 1 "1 Large 6"" Apple Fritter"

Yes, I think you've probably got it pegged real close from that. Enjoy it. :)

By the time I had licked the plate clean. It would be close to 800 for sure.

My husbands eats theses. U deserve a break after ur testing!
I was also thinking like Pat.
Cut that thing in half.
The flour has all the calories I think. Butter! Good for u.
Can u tll I'm from lc ing?

Eieio 01-30-2012 02:18 PM

I wondering if I can have that on my next dd. 650 cal. And lots of coffee.

We could do that right?
Omg.
Or milk and that donut. We could be happy.

Dottie 01-30-2012 02:19 PM

*thud* that looks so good!

KeirasMom 01-30-2012 03:11 PM

I don't like apples and I don't like sweets. About the only sweet I really like is, of all things, an apple fritter! Go figure!

I think I know at least one thing I'll be having Wednesday. :yummy:

HAS anyone done JUDDD eating nothing but sweets (but staying within caloric boundaries)?

Pami, I hope you enjoyed every ooey- gooey, rich, and luscious mouthful.

My diet has quite a lot of pastry-type stuff in it since I am in France and, despite probably half of my UD calories coming from that, I am still losing!! LOVE IT!:D

Kiley2801 01-31-2012 02:13 PM

600-750 I'd estimate.
