New protein shake find at Walmart

Went to walmart today and they have a new protein shake i bought for my DD's. I like to have some kind of protein but am really enjoying not having any real food until dinner unless i snack on a few cucumber slices.

They are Eat Good Look Good Protein Shake, 110 calories and 23 whopping grams of protein. I cant wait to try one tomorrow to see how it holds me and how it tastes. Im probably going to drink half around 10 or 1030 and the other half in the afternoon. They are 7.00 dollars for a 4 pack so a little pricey i guess because of the protein and they are big shakes, they arent small like the eas shakes or atkins shakes.

Just wanted to let you guys know. I will let you know how they taste. I got vanilla. Im already looking forward to my DD tomorrow. :D

I'm interesting to hear what you think of them! I like having shakes on hand for those times when I just don't feel like fixing something on DDs. How many oz are they?

Truffles 01-29-2012 02:49 PM

Let me know what you think! I love the chocolate LC Slimfast ones- but do not like the Atkin's ones.

I wonder which one they taste like...

SoHappy 01-29-2012 02:50 PM

I'll look forward to your review of the shakes, Shelly. Hope they're tasty!

Are those the Pure Protein brand? I think they say "eat good look great" above the Pure Protein logo?

Edit: do they look like the pic below? If so, they're pretty good:)

Same here and I'm posting in this thread so I can find it later. :D

ummmmmmmmmm
shouldn't it be "Eat Well"?

itsmeshelly01 01-29-2012 04:29 PM

Yep those assets the ones. Im hoping they are decent tasting. I love having the easiest things possible for DDs so if these taste decent I will be a happy camper. You can't beat 23 grams of protein for 110 calories and 2 carbs. My whey protein is 24 grams for 110 calories but just mixing it with water doesn't cut it so if I mix it with almond milk to make it a little thicker the calories go up so this will be perfect!

mainemom 01-29-2012 05:36 PM

I really like the vanilla ones Pure Protein shakes - been drinking them for a while. I like that they are also low carb. Not so crazy about the chocolate and I could barely choke down strawberry.

theredhead 01-29-2012 06:00 PM

Thanks for posting this, Shelly. I'm very interested to hear about how you like them. I love my homemade protein shakes, but they have too many calories to have on a DD.

sophiethecat 01-29-2012 06:04 PM

I'll look forward to your review, Shelly. :)

I bought the Jillian Michael's Whey Protein powder in vanilla last week, but haven't used it yet.

I've heard good things about it. I bought the vanilla because I thought it would be versatile - can drink it plain or add fruits to it. I read where some people sprinkle it in oatmeal. When I try it, I'll let you guys know what I think.

I love the strawberry ones with 35 grams of protein - the chocolate, too. They are a little higher in calories, but I think they are delicious! Hope you enjoy them.

sophiethecat 01-29-2012 07:03 PM

I decided to have a cup of the shake now since I hadn't eaten for 8 hours, have had a bit of a headache for the last few hours, and just wanted to try the shake too.

Blech. At least mixed with water. I added about 2 ounces of whole milk on top of that, and some pumpkin pie spice, and still it's barely passable. It's like the most watered down egg nog you can imagine.

BUT I think it would be pretty good blended with some plain yogurt and/or fruit! I will try it this way tomorrow.

It might make a very good, filling DD "meal" for about 200 calories that way too, if one got it nice and thick. Will let you know. :)

theredhead 01-29-2012 08:22 PM

Sophie, the trick is to add yummy fat and ice. Here's my 255 calorie Mint Chocolate Protein Shake. I save it for UDs, but it would be okay for a DD too, if you don't mind spending your calories on a shake.

Mint Chocolate Protein Shake

1/3 cup Unsweetened Almond Milk (12 cals)
1 oz. cream cheese (100 cals)
1.5 T. cocoa powder (13 cals)
1 scoop EAS Vanilla Whey Protein Powder (130 cals)
Sweetener to taste (I use a combo of Sweetzfree and Erythritol)
1/4 tsp. peppermint extract

Blend ingredients together briefly. Add about 1 3/4 - 2 cups crushed ice and blend the dickens out of it until it gets creamy and you don't feel the ice crystals on your tongue.

For additional calories, you can make an incredibly yummy Coconut Chocolate Shake. Substitute 1 T. of melted virgin coconut oil instead of the peppermint. I always mix it in after I've blended in the ice. Another variation is using 1 T. natural peanut butter instead of the peppermint. Yummy!

sherrymyra 01-29-2012 08:42 PM

Looking forward to your review on the protein drink.

I didn't care for that brand either.

just subscribing =D carry on hehe

You can turn vanilla shakes into fabulous pumpkin pie shakes with the addition of canned pumpkin, the normal spices, and a bit of sweetener if desired. Pretty yummy.

itsmeshelly01 01-30-2012 04:29 AM

I didnt care for the jillian michaels one either. The kind i have right now doenst have any flavor at all, i bought it online at a place where you can customize your protein. I have whey protein isolate and milk protein isolate but trying to use them on DD's just makes too many calories so i think i will stick with them for UD's and for baking. If these are good they will be go to i think for DDs. I love having easy peasy on DD's. I have pouches of tuna and soup at hand at work in my drawer but havent even used any of them. I do use the broth though. I love that.

I can make a really tasty pumpkin pie shake using 1 cup almond milk, 1 scoop protein powder, 1/4 cup pumpkin, 1/4 cup greek yogurt, vanilla extract, cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice and whatever sweetener you use. Use my hand blender or bullet and its nice and thick. I have also done this same thing but used a little gluc and make a pudding.

For eggnog shake, 1 cup almond milk, 1 whole egg, 1/4 cup greek yogurt, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla extract, rum extract and sweetener. This tastes just like eggnog. My kids even loved it and said it was better than the real stuff!!! LOL

That sounds good!

itsmeshelly01 01-30-2012 05:12 PM

Ok, so I had the shake today and it is wonderful. I didn't have anything until about 1 and decided to drink it. I was pretty hungry. It totally killed my hunger and it tastes like vanilla ice cream. It's very good. Im impressed! Im gonna use this for 2 of my DDs per week I think.

Dottie that egg nog is delicious! You should try it. I also usually add a scoop or half a scoop of protein. I forgot to put that on here. I made some during Christmas and made a bid pitcher of it and it was a hit with everyone. No protein of course in that one and I added rum to mine...lol

That's AWESOME!!!:jumpjoy: Have you had another shake that you could compare it too??

Bonnie 01-30-2012 05:36 PM

Thanks for the reviews! I need to pick some up next time I go to WalMart.

itsmeshelly01 01-30-2012 05:41 PM

I really can't compare it to any I have had. It's better than eas or Atkins. To me it really does taste like a good creamy vanilla ice cream. And I love that they use sucralose and not aspartame. Aspartame seems to make me hungry on DDS.

Truffles 01-30-2012 06:23 PM

Thanks for the reply! I'm going to try and pick some up soon! I'm not a big fan of the Atkin's ones... so better than that is good!

Thank you for the recipes.

I'm going to try either a pumpkin or eggnog shake in the morning since I'm trying for high protein b'fasts now (Leptin reset to see if I start sleeping earlier like I want).

WWC 02-01-2012 11:48 AM

My Walmart didn't have these, but I found them at Target for about the same price!

catr31 02-01-2012 12:06 PM

I bought some at Walmart and had one of the vanilla ones today. Not bad and we'll see if it helps with hunger this afternoon.
