DD Food Porn

I'm pretty new to this, like my 3rd REAL DD will be Saturday. One this I am missing is the pretty pictures of food. I was hoping others would join me in my efforts. Here is what I made for tomorrow's meals. I have to work and made this tonight because I don't want to get up early!:hyst:

This took me about 20min to make (less time than I had my white-strips on for)

I weighed everything, and I am impressed by the LARGE amount of food for 370 calories!!!

1lb cabbage-100 calories
200grams of shrimp- 200 calories
2 LC cheese wedges (garlic/herb and french onion this time)

This should get me through the day no problem- with room for some cream in my coffee!!

http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/me...-12-06-937.jpg

I shredded the cabbage myself then cooked it on med. high heat with salt, fresh cracked pepper and some garlic powder- I like to brown it for more flavor. I sprayed the pan lightly with Pam first. I chopped up the shrimp and tossed that in the middle of the almost cooked cabbage. Then I added 1/2 cup of water to the pan and the 2 LC cheese wedges, covered and let melt. Then I took the cover off and cooked till the liquid was gone. Presto- one full DD's worth of meals!!

This is not an original dish- I give full credit to this thread http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/ju...e-chicken.html

Hope more will join me!!!;)

For those interested there are 17 carbs in this whole dish. 14 in the cabbage 2 in the LC wedges and 1 for the shrimp. ENJOY!

This is great, Truffles! :) I also had the idea to do this last week but didn't get pics of any DD foods. Glad you started it! :high5: Looks good! I'll join in on my next DD, which will probably be Monday.

Truffles 01-27-2012 10:38 PM

Honestly even if the food isn't that exciting- I know it is nice to have an idea of what you can eat for fewer calories for anyone new to counting them!

Even if it is some deli meat on a plate!

I put a salt shaker and the mini bottle of soda water in there for size reference.

Looking forward to some more ideas!!

s1mon3 01-27-2012 10:53 PM

Wow!! Looks yummy!! So you will be eating off this the entire DD day? Cool because the cabbage will keep you full. I will be trying this dish! Thanks!! Enjoy!!

gotsomeold 01-28-2012 04:04 AM

YUM!!!!

mykidsteacher 01-28-2012 08:08 AM

Looks Yummy! I will be having similar for lunch today. But I can't find laughing cow around here, so I got some philly cooking cream cheese stuff, and will toss a bit of that in there. The shrimp sounds good, I may use that instead of the chicken or tuna I was thinking of.

I love food porn and would enjoy a sticky w photos....even though I never make much to photo.

ouizoid 01-28-2012 08:55 AM

mykidsteacher--if you can find the weight watchers wedges, I recommend them--they are delicious and different flavours from the laughing cow and melt well in broth--I love the parmesan peppercorn flavour

janetsbreeze 01-28-2012 08:57 AM

I love your pictures, Truffles! :) I keep intending to take pics too on DD, but then I either am in too much of a hurry to eat the food or don't have time, lol! But I will have time tomorrow. :)

Sorry that one is sideways. I thought the dinner was pretty good! (Probably should have taken a picture of that!)
It would be a good item to have in the freezer for "i need something NOW" occasions! Pretty Low Carb too, which I like!

Sophiethecat- I look forward to MORE pictures!!!:jumpjoy:

KeirasMom 02-05-2012 06:53 PM

Ooh, I haven't seen that one. When I do t.v. dinners, I try to keep them 180 or under. That's great!

fleur 02-05-2012 10:10 PM

Wow. You can't argue with 140 calories. Would like to try that one.

sophiethecat 02-06-2012 10:47 AM

This is my most common version of the Cabbage skillet dish... I started out by frying the shrimp and tilapia (cut up into pieces) in nonstick spray, a little chicken broth, and about 1/2 t. red curry paste on med/high. Then I removed it from the skillet.

Deglazed pan with more chicken broth, added coleslaw mix, mushrooms, onion & garlic powders, ginger (from a squeeze bottle), and black pepper. Cooked it down to desired level.

Stirred in 2 egg whites & 5 T. soy sauce, cooked some more.

Added back the seafood. I decided it needed a touch more heat so I sprinkled on some cayenne powder.

About 400 calories estimated in the whole skillet.

That looks DELICIOUS!!!

Nice pic!

I recently picked up some Swai from Wal-Mart- haven't tried it yet. But will try it with the cabbage soy sauce skillet soon!

sherrymyra 02-07-2012 05:21 PM

I have tried the Swai from Wal-Mart. It is not bad but does not seem as flaky as tiliplia. I like tilipia better.

graciejean 02-07-2012 05:27 PM

What pretty pic. looks real, trying to eat them but screen in my way.lol

sophiethecat 02-17-2012 10:22 AM

My Irish version of the cabbage/skillet dish. Approx. 400 calories for the whole skillet (I use some real butter in it). Pictured below is half the skillet. I'll have the other half this evening.

This was absolutely DELICIOUS!!! I was a little afraid to use the shiratake noodles for something other that a dish with a soy sauce base. But was Pleasantly surprised by this dish for 100calories!!

sauteed onions and red and orange peppers thin julienne. I guessed at 25 calories and to be honest it was probably less! (next time I will weigh)
1 pkg shiratake noodles
1/2 cup Rao's Chunky Garden Spaghetti Sauce 70 calories
dash of soysauce 5 calories
bit of chili garlic paste- I used a bit too much and it was a tad spicier than I would have liked normally. You can skip the spicy sauce if you like.

This was my first DD meal after the cruise and I am rather impressed with it! Will try another meal with the shirataki noodles soon!

Great pictures, I love shirataki noodles, I 've been using them alot for my HCG diet. So your down days are similar in calories to every day on HCG. I am thinking that I could do really well on JUDDD!! Right now I am doing low carb for the phase 3 of HCG but I may transition into JUDDD, I think it would be a great fit and I only have 15 more lb to lose. From results that I've seen it is possible to lose this on JUDDD within 1-1 1/2 months.
Keep up the great pics, I'm enjoying the great ideas
