Induction Help
So, I've been intermittent fasting for 2 months where I only eat dinner. I'd say my calories have been averaging out below 1000 a day. I have 7lbs to lose. Here's my question what phase do I start? Do I start with average induction? The website lists 20% 25% 30% 35% etc I'm not sure what percentage to choose.

I think it would be best to start at the DD induction level of 500 (go up to 600 or 700 if you need to, then taper down to 500) calories and whatever the website says your UD calories should be. Play be the rules for two weeks, you have a head start but there is a good chance you have not yet invoked JUDDD magic. And you are going to find alternate day eating is very different from eating 1000 calorie dinner every evening. Have fun, those seven pounds should just melt away!

I'm starting 'induction' as well...I'm about 8-10 pounds from where I ultimately want to be. I decided to go with the 30% numbers. I just don't think I can do 350 cals on most DDs!
So, I'm 5'4", ~128, and I put that I work out 1-3x/week (though I usually do about 4-5x/week), and 24 years old and it gave me numbers of 550 and 1850. |

Alright sounds like a plan! Today was my down day and I'm right around 500 which is 25% so I think I will start at 25%-30% which based on your answers will be OK. 20% is somewhere around 300 calories and while I know I could do it it sounds like more misery than I want to subject myself to!

Don't feel that you *have* to do under 500 on DDs, even if that's the number the calculator gave you. Starting at 500 is perfectly acceptable (in fact, Dr. J suggests it as a good starting #), AND you'll lose at 500. Why torture yourself? If, after a good two-week start, you want to eat 350 a day on DDs, you certainly can. Plus, after two weeks on JUDDD, appetite suppression should be kicking in, so 350 calories won't (shouldn't) feel like torture. But, honestly, I don't really think you ever *need* to go below 500. When you have nice healthy UDs, you'll start to rev your metabolism and going under 500 will be unnecessary.
Good luck and welcome, new BUDDDs!!

It sounds like you both are going to love this! I am doing 500/1500 and I have a whole lot more to lose! So far it is not that difficult. I will have to say 500 doesn't really faze me but trying to go over 1500 is like a job!

Agreeing with everyone - 500 is amazing enough.

Way too much time on my hands!

Good luck! If you can do 500 calories for your DDs right from the beginning, you will be off to a fabulous start. Many of us have to start a bit higher and work our way backwards, down to that low number.
Hope your weight losses happen real fast. Woo Hoo! |
