That's amazing you are going to do a 1/2 marathon. I used to be a gym rat 2 years ago and could never run longer than 2 minutes on the treadmill. I could do the elliptical for an hour but couldn't run! I wish I could get into it. It seems so much less complicated to head out the door and RUN!

I honestly hate to sweat so I probably won't go any harder than the 30 Day Shred. That's why I always liked weight training types of things. It should help out with my osteopenia, too.

I never ran a day in my life till 18 months ago. I started with the couch to 5k and the rest is history. This is my second half. I hate running indoors and have only done in once since I have started running

Dang, girls! I'd love to be as *whatever* as you. I wouldn't be caught dead in a bathing suit, thin or not. I have very ugly skin, and really always have. I suffer terribly from eczema and my legs are usually pretty scabby. Now that I've lost almost 90 pounds, I've also got some extra skin. Oddly enough, I really have very few stretch marks.

I actually bought the Callanetics DVD a few months ago, but have only watched it once, and didn't actually DO anything. Typical for me. I despise exercise. However, maybe I'll give it a try, lol. You guys are pretty motivating.

I'll be you will get that well toned look you are after pretty quickly. You're not really getting into body building, etc.. right? Isn't it like three days and your muscles are already stronger.

I read reviews on amazon and also there are clips on youtube. The Super and the 10 years younger are really old! The Evolution is more modern. It's about $22 though!

you look great, julie!

as much as i detest exercise, i decided to try it. just starting with walking and light weights. i am not to the point that shin splints and sore muscles are an enjoyable feeling...yet. but, it's a start.

sadly, i will never be bikini bound. i have perfectly 'lovely' set of stretch marks on my tummy from my kiddos. 4 pregnancies, 4 c-sections, 1 premie, 2 babies over 10 lbs, 1 baby just shy of 10 lbs. so yeah....this tummy won't see the light of day in a bikini.

but it would be nice to look non-giggly in a swim suit. so, i will give this exercise thing a go, too. i have some callanetics dvd's somewhere. i should find them.

If anyone is interested, I have some BEFORE/AFTER pics of Callanetics results in my profile (click on "Show All Albums). There are pics from after my 1st workout and after my 10th, and then also after my 16th, I think. This was back when I started them in August, until I stopped doing them ( ) . I was doing LC at the time and weight loss was very slow, so the progress you see in those pics was almost totally due to Callanetics. I only lost about 3# during the whole time I was doing Callanetics, but I lost soooo many inches!

I REALLY need to get back into them and see how they make me look now that I'm in maintenance.

For you guys doing 10 Years Younger in 10 Hours (10/10), I will say that the video isn't like a modern exercise video where they give you lots of explanation on each move. Here, they do on many of them, but on some I thought they could have done better. You'll see there are other flaws in the way the video is put together that makes it take longer to get through than it has to. But still, watch it all the way through until you get used to everything.

I didn't want to get bored with the dvd or have to take too much time (an hour) doing the routine. So after I did the initial 10 hours/workouts, I began to modify some of the exercises to fit me better. If something doesn't feel right (like if it hurts my back or neck for example), I changed the way I did it or reduced the number of reps.

Also, I keep the remote handy to fast forward through things I don't do or introductions, still pictures, etc. after I got used to what they were. I just FF until the counter starts because I'm all ready to do the exercise at that point.

I don't do all of that one warm-up where you put a hand on your side and stretch over with an arm raised - that one causes me to lose feeling in the arm/hand that's raised and I don't think that's good for me. I do maybe 25 to 50 but when I feel that sensation start, I stop.

I don't even do those two leg stretches on the bar (or in my case, arm of chair) because they don't feel right to me or maybe I'm just not doing it right, but either way it was too hard and I felt like I spent more time just trying to stay balanced and not fall over than I did anything else. So I fast-forward through them. The other leg stretch exercises she does later seem to help me enough anyway.

When doing the stomach exercises, my neck will sometimes start hurting from trying to hold itself up without support, so I alternate holding the back of it with one hand for say, a count of 20, then switch to the other hand, then try to finish the count without a hand supporting my neck. It's *very* important if you do this to only hold the back of your head *very lightly* so that your hands are not helping you "round" or that you aren't pushing your neck forward any. It's just for light support only, but it helps my neck sooo much.

Another comfort thing for me is when I do the thigh/butt exercises, I don't try to hang onto a barre or anything. I just lie flat on my side and make sure everything else is in proper position.

I put a cushion or pillow under my knees on pelvic roation and scoop.

Those are my little tips for time and comfort. They don't seem to have hurt my results any, but they are important for me if I'm going to stick with this and not get bored or injured. I still had great results.

I recommend doing 10/10 no more than every other day because your muscles really need time to recover.

Don't be surprised if you are very sore after your first workout. I still get shaky legs sometimes after doing 10/10.

Julie, you look fantastic! I, too, am skinny, but fat. I stopped running and lifting weights over a month ago because...well I don't know why...life got busy, I guess. I noticed I was losing weight at a much faster rate (at least it seemed that way). I am probably losing muscle.

I need YOU to give me the drive to get back to working out! I can't wait to see your progress and wish you the best of luck!
