If you fast DD mornings...

I have a couple of questions for those of you that don't eat anything until noon or later on a DD (which I managed to do today! And I like that I have more calories to use ).

What time do you get up? I usually get up at 6:30, lunch is at 12:30. I can see it being easier to get through the morning if I didn't get up until 9 or so. lol

But more important, I have a handful of supplements that I take after breakfast. I wasn't sure about taking them on an empty stomach, so this morning I didn't. Some of them I can just shift and take after eating at lunch, but others are specific to taking in the morning. Just curious how you handle supplements.

I get up at 5:50. I take mine in the morning after my workouts. I usually eat a light breakfast just to cushion the tummy so to speak. It's usually a bit of fruit and/or a spoon of cottage cheese. Regardless, it's usually under 100 cals.

I am almost always up by 6:30 am. I take thyroid med on an empty stomach anyway, so no breakfast works fine for that.

Basically, any meds that need to be on an empty tummy could be taken then, and any meds that need to be taken with food could be taken later. Even those meds that need to be taken with food, most often don't really need much food... and most folks aren't even bothered if them take them empty.

You could try taking the *specific to morning* pills on the empty morning stomach and then if you are feeling nausea, go ahead and eat a bit of breakfast.. just enough to put a little food in your tummy. But you may be surprised to just not have any trouble at all.

I put a splash of some kind of dairy in my morning coffee, and that really helps both with fasting til afternoon and with processing supplements. The purist in my head says it's not REALLY fasting, but according to the definitions I've read on here, it is.

I'm usually up by six, when Katie wants her first helping of milk.
I didn't start by fasting the entire morning -- I just kept pushing back my first meal of the day further and further as the weeks progressed, and then the natural appetite suppression of JUDDD kicked in and made all the difference.

I wish I could sleep until nine!

I am usually up by 4:30 a.m. (no reason other than insomnia) and I don't eat on work days until my lunch break at 1:00 p.m.

I only take Atenolol (beta blocker for rapid heart rate) and a vitamin. Both can be taken on an empty stomach, so I'm no help there.

I don't use cream in my coffee or in my broth. I usually have water until 8:00 when I make the coffee at work. I have coffee (2 large cups) until about 10:00. I then cheat and take glucomannan capsules with a full glass of water because that's when I start getting really hungry. Around 11:00, I have some broth, sometimes plain and sometimes with a half a serrano chili sliced into it. This holds me over nicely until lunch time.

I am usually up around 4:00 am. I drink 3 cups of black coffee and then switch to water. I eat around 11 or 12 ish. I don't take supplements until late afternoon or early evening.

WOW, early risers! I wish I could sleep till 9 too. I was NOT a morning person (could easily sleep till noon on a weekend when I was young), and then God gave me my first born 18 1/2 years ago. If the sun was up, so was he. LOL Now, sleeping in is when I get to sleep till 8.

I think I will move all that can be moved to lunchtime, and then try the ones that need to be in the morning and see what happens. I do like the feeling of fasting till lunch (have done it on 2 dd's now).

I get up at 7:30 or so, and don't eat anything until supper time. I don't take supplements in the morning though, I know from previous experience that for me, supplements on an empty stomach is not a good idea.

My weekday alarm is set at 3:50 am. Just too many things to do/see/learn to waste time sleeping! I just pushed my first food time back until around noon or later, little by little. Since I wasn't actually hungry, it was easy.

Wow you all get up so early!!! In fact on DD I get to sleep 30min longer becauseI dont have breakfast lol bed is more important. I usually go to be around 11 on weekends and get up around midday I take my medications with water in the morning and have no problems, coffee around 10am and Im on a mission to get to dinner time without eating but drinking lots. So far Ive made it to 3pm and thats getting up at 8am which is early to me

I wake up at about 7.30....much later than you early birds...though on weekends, i can sleep till 10+!

I have no problems taking my supplements, along with herbal tea first thing, then having white coffee/tea/water until I eat at 6-7pm.

It has taken me a while to pushing my eating back this far...but I like eating, and when I start, my hungry monster awakes! I much prefer a nice big dinner and supper in the evening (or even lots of snacks) rather than small amounts all day.

I get up at 450 and workout. I have 1 cup of coffee with 1T ff creamer and I take all of my supplements on an empty stomach and they don't bother me. I have been trying to push back many eating later and later. I have 2 cups of coffee at work and usually eat half of my gluc pudding at 10. I am eating way less on DDS than when I first started and live that.

I get up about 6 each morning, then take my fiber stuff with warm water! The fiber can says to wait 2 hours before taking any meds!!! So I take my HRT and calcium about 8. I have breakfast about 6:45 - usually coffee and yogurt ( Activia Light - 70 calories ).

I get up before 6am. and most dds I fast until dinner time. which is around 6pm. sometimes I have a splash of almond milk in my coffee. I don't take meds.
but I do take a vitamin when I can remember it.

I get up with my DS to make sure hes out the door for school but crawl back into bed with DH until he leaves and then sometimes I sleep a little longer... this help my DDs but I also discovered that even if I get up earlier I am ok with just some hot tea until around 12 or 1pm. This is leftover from my Atkins days.. I would get up and just have coffee for breakfast..

There are certain supplements I take--B-complex in particular--in the morning for the purported energy.
I have had such problems with insomnia over the years, I don't like to take them too late in the day.

So, sometimes I just skip those if I don't eat early enough.

I use 3, sometimes even 4 different vitamin boxes! I have my am & pm absolutely-have-to-take-every-day-stuff (that I will take on an empty stomach if need be),
and energy/ok-if-I-take-every-other-day stuff.

OTOH, even on the mornings that I "fast", I often have a cup of coffee or broth with cream,
and that seems to be enough to take the supplements with without waking up the hunger monster.

Up between 8:30 and 9:00 BUT I also don't get to bed until 1:00 or 1:30 am. I don't eat anything until 12:30 on my DDs, but I do eat breakfast earlier on my UDs or I won't get all my calories in I need to make the next DD so much easier!!

I am up at 5:30 on weekdays. Weekends, it's more like 8-8:30, unless we have something going on that requires we get up earlier. On DDs, I have coffee w/ light cream (1 mug) in the morning. That's it until dinner, which is anywhere from 5-7, depending on what's going on here with the boys' activities. I find I'm better off just not starting to eat, or I get very hungry. The longer I wait to eat, the better. However, if I find myself really hungry, I'll have a cup of vegetable bouillion or diet hot cocoa. Then I have plenty of calories left for a nice dinner.

Thanks for all the input. I had an egg with my coffee this am, so it wasn't an issue. Will test out how the supps do on an empty stomach on Tues (my next dd).

My DDs are two days at work in town, when I get up at 5:30, and Sunday, whenI get up at 8. I don't eat anything but black coffee until 1 or 2 on those days, then have a small meal or snack. My UDs are two days working at home, one day in town, and one free day when I allow myself 3 drinks.
