Newbie with a question

HI everyone,

I am just starting this and have a question I couldn't find an answer too. How do you count vitamins and supplements you take. Due to a digestive disorder I have, I take a LOT of supplements. I have no idea how to count those. Does anyone else deal with this? Does anyone take a random number they round off and just go with it? I am only suppose to eat 390 calories on my DD. Should I figure about 100 calories are for supplements or is there an easier way. I don't take the same ones every day. Anyone have suggestions for that? Thanks so much. I am hoping this helps my metabolism!

Sungoddess!

I never count supplements, even the "fatty" ones like fish oil. I just take them and don't think about their calories.

There are some other things many of us don't count, a few examples being black coffee, plain tea, mustard, seasonings, etc.

Also, if you have trouble with your low DD calories on your first DD, feel free to up them, especially since you are just getting started. Maybe you won't need to up them, but just know if you really need to, it's OK to do it. You could go up to 500, you could go up to 600 or 700. You'll adjust eventually and can lower those numbers if needed as you go along. Although a number of us stayed around 500 - 700 calorie DD the whole time and lost fine. Still others do complete fasts on DD or stay below 500 because it comes much easier for them. So just go with what your body needs.

Welcome again!

What Sophiethecat said! I take all sorts of random supplements and not the same ones everyday. I don't bother counting them. I also would up my DD calories! I'd do 500 or a little more, then shave a hundred or so off my UD numbers. But I'm weird and I like even numbers . . . and a little more food for DDs.

Thank you for the warm welcome. Makes me feel good. Thanks for your advice. I will happily NOT count the supplements Thanks again- I am sure I will be needing much more advice as I move forward.

In all my years of LC (I'm a newbie to JUDDD but plan to do it the same way) there are two things I don't ever put in my logs - supplements and meds. I do try to avoid OTC meds with sugar in them when I can, but prescribed meds or things needed for procedure prep I just do what I have to do and don't think about it nor track it.

I'm a bit OCD so I count everything, but most supplements are negligible in calories anyway. I also count spices and coffee, etc.

and hope you love JUDDD as much as I do!

I only count food, and then sometimes not "all" food (some condiments, spices, coffee, tea and anything under 5 calories). AND I have never counted fiber or supplements.
