Any Paleo/Primal JUDDD BUDDDs out there?

Just curious if anyone else is doing this paleo/primal. I've been modified primal since Aug (didn't know what it was called when I started, lol). I got more strict about grains/dairy starting in the new year.

Today was my first UD, so will be going for a 500 cal DD tomorrow.

I've been doing JUDDD for just over 3 years (been at goal for the past six months). I always ate low carb because I'm extremely carb sensitive, but over time, I eliminated all grains, dairy, and artificial sweeteners. When I first discovered Primal, the only non-primal thing I was eating was my natural peanut butter, which I switched to almond butter.

So, yes, I eat about 90% primal, focusing on whole foods.

Keep in mind that JUDDD is simply a calorie cycling plan. It can accommodate any food choices you make.

Good to see you Leo. I like the primal focus on whole foods, and my gut does much better without grains/dairy/sugar. Still trying to develop a taste for almond butter. I bake with it, but not fond of it straight.

I love it too much 'straight,' so I've stopped buying it for a while, since it has become a 'trigger' food for me--I just eat too much of it.

I've read that in maintenance, you need to find "NTTs" (non-triggering treats), and most 'treats' are triggers for me, so for now, I'm sticking to my basic foods--which are actually totally satisfying.

Howdy! Checking in. As you can see from my journal, I'm working on becoming more Primal. I chose Mark Sisson's Primal Blueprint because it is a whole lifestyle, not just a food plan. And it allows some dairy. Life without cheese is just not worth living, IMO lol
I've been intermittently low carbing in general for over 12 years, and consistently low carb for 2. I stopped losing weight at the end of 2010 and spent all of 2011 tweaking and trying new things trying to break my stall. That is when I started to shift toward more Primal and noticing the quality of my food (oils, legumes, sweeteners, soy, "products"). I finally tried JUDDD along with Primal in October of 2010 and lost 5 pounds. Unfortunately, I gave in to holiday temptations and used my JUDDD up days as an excuse to eat out of bounds and just about any crappy carby thing I'd been missing for two years. By the time New Years came around, I was up 8 pounds from my lowest weight of 145. Two weeks and I've lost two pounds. A little slow, but heading in the right direction. Hopefully it will pick back up again soon.

I started out just wanting to cut grains, sugar and potatoes from my diet for blood sugar management purposes (I read Good Calories Bad Calories). Had never heard of paleo/primal. I lost 20 pounds since Aug doing this, maintained through the holidays, and then lost another 2 once Christmas was over.

I wasn't specifically trying to do lc, but when you cut out those 3 things, it just happens that way.

I'd already switched us over to olive and coconut oils for most cooking, but in November or so is when I actually heard this woe named. I've been focusing more on quality of my foods since then. I do like that dairy is allowed by Mark, but I still need to avoid it (based on muscle testing showing me dairy sensitive). I'll still eat cheese once a week, and don't feel it hurts me too much. My naturopath would disagree. LOL

My skin has never looked better since I started eating this way, and my digestion is so much improved. If I cheat and eat grains, I get so bloated and gassy, and my skin breaks out again.

Made it through my first DD paleo. Even my fat/carb/protein rations stayed pretty well the way they are on higher cal days.

Reading Good Calories, Bad Calories last summer, and Wheat Belly a couple weeks ago, really, once and for all, clinched it all for me about what is good and not good, why and why not. Coupled with Sisson's day-to-day practical, laid back suggestions and information on *** have given me a pretty clear picture of what to do. But the more I learn, the more overwhelming it seems sometimes.

I am one of you too! I like to eat more primal/paleo types of foods but I have not been really good about keeping up with my calories lately. This next week, I will go back to writing them all down!

Hey Daisy and Artemis. Good to have some primal BUDDDS to talk things over with.

That's one thing I'm having the most trouble with with JUDDD--keeping track of calories. I'd gotten with primal to where I don't even have to think about food. I know what I can eat, and what I can't, and it's easy. I feel like I"m thinking about food ALL.THE.TIME.

MKT, I know what you mean. But after a couple of weeks it will become second nature to you. I know, after tracking and tracking for weeks and weeks, that if I eat to hunger on low carb foods, I will eat around 1500 calories. Therefore, I don't count on my up days anymore. I don't usually count down days anymore either because I know what they are, because they are always the same... coffee and shake for bfast, soup for lunch, more coffee as a snack, lean protein and salad for dinner. M/W/F that is what I eat and I know it is under 600 calories.

My problem is, eating to hunger only nets me about 1200 calories. So I have to purposefully count to make sure I get enough for the UD's. DD's are significantly easier (or at least will be). I'm perfectly fine with eating the same thing for breakfast and lunch, and just varying supper.

Keeping up with calories is also a challenge for me...just for time reasons. But as Speck said, once you look up the calorie counts for food a few times, it just sticks and makes it easier! I also find that UD's are more difficult for me because my stomach "shrinks" on DD's and then when I actually can fill up, I'm not hungry

I am here too, I am mostly primal, except for the pesky diet cokes with splenda that I have allowed back into my diet since doing JUDDD, honestly, the one diet coke between lunch and dinner helps me through my down day. But other than that, we eat mostly primal in our house.

Yah, I have one diet Dr. Pepper a day. And I don't plan on cutting it out.

I don't do AS either, or at least as little as possible. Splenda gives me horrid headaches.

If I don't count UD's, I will easily only eat 1100 calories. I have to count.

Welcome BigRunner! Paleo and JUDDD works great together. And based on your stats, looks like the Paleo/primal agrees with you.

I'm just a few pounds from goal, and was stuck, stuck, stuck. JUDDD is helping to shake things up and break through. It also looks like a great woe for maintenance.

I've been a little tempted by treats, but one wheaty treat, and I realized my tummy needs me to stay primal, even if the woe allows it.

Going to have a hard-boiled egg to round out my dd and head to bed. Looking forward to tomorrow. I was hungry today.

I'm tempted every damn day!!!

sometimes I fantasize about what it would be like to be single and to have my fridge filled to the brim with NOTHING BUT veggies and fruit..freezer stocked with frozen veggies and animals(protein that is!)
..my cupboards would be almost bare.

I've been experimenting with adding back a few grain carbs and some sweet potato, but not sure if it's working well for me or not. A few blood sugar spikes, and some signs of inflammation this morning (sore hands and feet).
