First Down Day Complete...

Wow, what a hard day. A friend's suicide attempt, another I had to take to urgent care for heart trouble, all while trying a down day for the first time! I managed to do it, but I'm just praying down days get easier... could use some encouragement!

Oh, I'm sorry you had to deal with all that on your first DD.


Just know that DDs get easier for all of us, and after your particularly rough DD, the rest should be a breeze!

Don't judge your first DD and all the stress you had as how it is going to be with future DDs. They are "different" but if you eat good foods; proteins, veggies, whole grains (if you do a higher carb WOE with JUDDD) and drink lots of liquids you will be just fine.

And after about the 4th or 5th DD they become a breeze and you have figured out what foods help to keep you full longer and how to manage those days without even thinking about food; waiting longer to start eating, keeping busy, doing other things besides thinking about food.

It really happens, just give it a fighting chance and try to keep your stress down, if possible. Not always the case, but something to aim for.

Oh, My! What an unhappy day for you. I'm so sorry.

As to the DDs, I can only assure you that you will learn when it's best for you to eat, and what foods fill you comfortably and make your DDs easy to comply with. And then as your body adapts to this new alternating rhythm of food intake, you will find that you are given much less hunger signaling on DDs, so you rarely even feel very hungry. And then too, eating well on your UDs does help fuel you for the following DD period, so that helps too.

I know you'll do well here! But hope your future DDs are a lot less stressful then your first one was!

That would be a terrible day even if you were eating chocolate cake all the way through!

As for the eating part, I found it very hard my first DD, but it quickly got much easier for me. I'm sure your next DD will be easier!
