I am still a couple of pounds up after those 2 or 3 weeks I was more or less
not following the plan eating to much on DDs ect. Just about a week back on it with 500 calorie DDs and most of the water weight is back off. And just as inportant to me is the RA in my hands that had been geting a little worse the last 2 weeks seems better now. Well wishing everone here a good UD or DD whichever it is for you. |

I just seem to be holding steady..not sure if the last few weeks of inconsistency is the problem or this new weight/strength training I am doing. Either way, something's gotta give cause I vacation plans in 2 1/2 weeks! New Orleans then a 7 day cruise to the Western Caribbean

Kelly, I always gain weight with weight training. I have a feeling that it's water for me, swollen muscles. How exciting about your vacations!
I'm pretty excited because after an UD, I'm still well under that 185. This morning's weigh-in was 183.2!!! So thrilled! And I have to admit that I kinda went crazy on the carbs last night. I did stay under my UD calorie limit, but I had a peanut butter and banana sandwich for dinner and then a nutri-grain bar and a HUGE glass of yummy whole milk for a late night snack. I was kinda worried my weight would soar, but no!So far I'm having a good down day. It's almost 1:30 and I'm thinking about having something to eat before I go get my 8 year old after school, not sure. I'm still not all that hungry.

And I'm thinking that if you have added a new weight program & strength training to your life, you are undoubtedly adding a bit of muscle already (isn't that only supposed to take three days to start building?) plus I think we do retain a bit more water in our muscle tissues from those kinds of workouts, so you may well be hiding actual fat loss behind some water weight gain, and the scale can't tell the difference.. only just what the total weight of your body is at any given moment, water weight and all. Have you measured to see if you are losing inches?

No I never measure, but I can say my jeans (they are always my biggest peeve) are looser.
Yesterday would have been a great DD had I not spoiled it the night before over indulging in liquid refreshment. I felt like complete (____) yesterday and only wanted breads (for some reason my mind thinks of it as a sponge to soak up the alcohol) lol Anyway, thank you for your thoughts. I really need to spread my margins and be consistent. |

![]() And I'll bet if you get the days that are supposed to be fasting days in better control, they will more than offset your days that are high, and you'll be really happy with increased weight loss. Although, it sounds like you're losing some body fat through all of this if clothing is fitting looser, and if so.. Keep Up the Good Work! |

I've found that I simply can't do 500 cal DDs. I feel 100% better if my DDs are around 700cals. Anyone else found this to be true as well?

I was a wimp who attempted 500-calorie DDs over and over and failed at a lot (most) of them for awhile, but going over if I needed to was what kept me on the plan, and now even in maintenance I like to stay low, and it's easy. It just didn't start off being easy. I think you will experience good weight loss even at 700 calories instead of 500 calories, and as the weeks go by, maybe you'll be able to bring that DD calorie number down bit by bit for even more benefit. The big thing is to just do your best. Right? Once we're overweight, we have to restrict somewhere to make weight loss happen, but to only have to do some restriction every other day is about as pleasant as a diet can be. Wishing you all the very best, Janetsbreeze! I'm sure you will be successful here! |

Yes. You are not alone. I aim for 500, but almost always need 600 - 700 or even a little more. It still worked great for me.

Kelly, may I mini-hijack the thread for just a moment?
New Orleans, cruise, Voyager? If so, I am so jealous. Voyager was my second home when it cruised out of Galveston. They replaced it with the Mariner, but it's Not. The. Same!! Or is it the Carnival ship? Conquest?(don't remember...) Now to relate this to the topic at hand I would love to have a full report when you get back! |

Welcome back Betty!! I am so happy to see you here again, we missed you.
Jkat glad to hear your mom is home and hope that February's operation will begin recovery. I can only imagine how stressful it has all been. As for me I went up .4 after a DD but I had a pretty crazy day yesterday. My DD ended up at 638 which I have been allowing myself up to 700 calories. But last week I lost 4.4 lbs so my body probably is just revolting. In addition I met with a personal trainer yesterday and signed up for eight sessions and she showed me some things on the weight machines and really pushed me. So although I didn't do alot of reps/sets my muscles were fully worked, so I am assuming I am just holding onto some water. Some of my tighter pants are starting to fit a little bit better. Last night ended with me getting in a car accident. Everyone is fine, just have to deal with the aftermath of getting cars fixed, hoping I can get a rental car today without having to pay out of pocket, and dealing with insurance. I was on my way to pick up my son from wrestling practice, same road I take several times a day and this man pulled out of a parking lot right in front of me. I tried to swerve to miss him but clipped his front end with my right corner. I drive a Ford Expedition so my truck looks ok, just a flat tire and some scuffs (although there could be unseen damage to the frame and/or suspension) but his poor Honda Accord lost its entire bumper and will need alot of front end work. My back is hurting a bit this morning but that is also the muscles we worked on yesterday so I don't know which it is from. Not a good week for this to happen, alot going on this week. It is never good for me to be out of a car with so many kids. My daughter goes to overnight camp for a few days tomorrow and I have a bunch of stuff left to do to make sure she is ready.

Good morning JUDDD BUDDs!!! Just saying hi before i head to work. Im still on the fence right now about all of this. Im hoping and praying this starts working for me. Listening to all of you guys really makes me want so bad for this woe to work for me. My DD's are at 500 or below, my UD's are 1800, sometimes a little lower or a little higher. I just dont know at this point. I keep just staying the same and the same 5lbs keeps coming and going.
Its frustrating. I know i have changed alot of things lately. My workouts, eating, so maybe this is all playing a part, thats why im really trying to just stick with it for a couple good weeks before i jacking with things. You guys are doing so great!!!! Have a great day!!!

I started back doing 500 c on DDs a week ago after being realy sloppy for a few weeks and regaining 8 lbs. As of this morning that 8 lbs of water is gone. Besides gaining a few pounds by getting to lax on the program my RA in my hands was returning now it to is a lot better to. Well today is another DD for me and I will try realy hard to keep it to 500 c or less. Hope everyone has a fine UD or DD today.

Hi ladies
Hope you don't mind if I jump in. I had a great DD yesterday but took some nightime cold pills and I'm only down 0.2# - grrrr. I believe the cold tablets are making retain water because my fingers are puffy. Today is an UD so I'm going to try and stay right around 1950 calories.Kristi ~ Make sure you go to a doctor to get checked out. If you don't go and you have problems later on, the insurance company won't be able to do anything. They say you were not injured if you do not seek medical attention. And they will most likely offer you $ for pain and suffering if you go to the doctor. I just went through this - my 2 year old daughter was in a car accident driving with my sister.

kris- thats scary..glad you all are ok!
Shelly- I feel your frustration..how long have you been at it? As for me, I'm not sure about the whole Atkins thing..I don't like putting a label on my WOE(accept for JUDDD) And as I'm reading more about it I see so many who have tried, lost the weight. gained it back just to do it all over. I can do my own 'induction,' without calling it Atkins. |

Hi, Betty! Hi, Everyone!
Glad you're back, Betty. Are you going to do low carb induction and then add carbs back in on JUDDD? or do low carb induction and remain low carb on JUDDD also? I'm sure glad you're back. Lots and lots of new faces, and LOTS and LOTS of weight loss happening here! |

Question here.. you say that you are staying about the same, fluctuating within about a 5-lb framework. So it looks like you are maintaining, weight-wise. Is this not what you are wanting to do? I ask because I see your stats show you as actually being a bit below your goal weight. Is this not correct? I'm confused. You seem frustrated, but I'm not sure whether you're trying to lose more weight or frustrated that your maintenance weight fluctuates by 5 pounds. |

I'm probably going to scrap the induction altogether..I will stick to low(ish) carbs and reduce as needed if/when progress stalls.
I really don't do well with taking whole food groups away. I tried to do a 'Primal,' challenge and kept failing. I don't want to set myself up that way. |
