Well enough!
My back feels much better so back to light workouts until there are no more twinges, then back onto full ones.
Down Days, shmound days! I own them! No more evening mini binges.
I'm going to have a good up day today and get my butt back in gear.
Yay, Dottie! Sound like a good and positive plan. And I'll bet you will be seeing good results quickly!

That's why I still have to weigh each morning. If I'm letting myself get a little too free-wheeling with the Free Day calories, I know it's time to return to some real counted UDs. Darn.
Oh, let me clarify, lol. I DO keep most of my UD calories under control, around 1800-1900 calories. It's just that when I'm not eating at home, I allow myself to be a lot more indulgent, and so far it's balancing out. Now that the holidays are over, it'll be much less frequent, I'm sure. And I'm VERY aware of what I'm putting in my mouth on those Free Days.

I think you're doing the perfect job. Getting some freedom, and paying attention at the same time you're allowing yourself to be relaxed. Looks like it's working well!

I am away holidaying and this what I am doing too. Being indulgent, while trying to still follow JUDDD principles.

Do you mean my UD/DD numbers? I'm doing 600/1880 -- a little higher than most at my weight but I'm nursing a little one. I started at 800/1880 but decreasing my DDs doesn't seem to bother her NEARLY as much as trying to do Atkins did. Odd, huh?

so I changed my mind, I think.

I'm going to do the two week induction of Atkins. I really want to kick start some weight loss..

I'm nervous though!!!

ANd I wonder if I should combine JUDDD with it from the start?? could be an interesting experiment.

Is stardustshadow still around?? I think she was doing that!

I'm going to start Monday.
My only reservation is sticking to the VLC phase and having the patience to slooowly raise them back up.

Hi today, Betty! I know what you mean about the patience to add carbs back in very gradually. If you are going to go through the very low carb of induction for two weeks, and will have lost all of your water weight, I don't see much point on transferring onto another plan with weight loss as a goal, only to add back in the carbs and promote water weight GAIN back again on the new plan, and then perhaps think it doesn't work and throw in the towel.

So I'd say, if you're going for the water weight loss of induction, then stick with the very low carbs so that you continue losing fat weight from there, rather than seeing that scale weight go up on JUDDD, due to the regaining of carb stores & water weight.

Good luck, either way you decide to do it. I'm really excited to have you back with us doing JUDDD! Woo Hoo!

ITA. When you transition between LC to eating carbs again, you're going to immediately gain back that deceptive water weight. And it IS deceptive! I lost eight pounds during Atkins induction but six of that was water that I always immediately gained back as soon as I ate carbs. It's an illusion.

I lost more and better during my first two weeks of strict UD/DD rotation on JUDDD than I did on Atkins Induction -- and didn't have to worry about eating a sandwich and immediately "gaining" 5-7 pounds.

You guys are all so motivating!!! I love reading your success. Im hoping for the same. I started this week at 150 again, just like last week. That is getting old. After mon DD, i was 148.6, after tue UD 148.2, that was surprising that i went down instead of up so im hoping im on the right tract finally. I had a great DD today so im hoping to be down again in the morning. I am slowly adding carbs and i seem to be doing fine. I was really scared. Yesterday on my UD i had a egg sandwich for breakfast, only 1 piece of wheat bread but its a start and i had about a 1/2 cup of alfredo pasta with my salad for dinner last night. Now that was a treat!!!! It was nice to be able to eat what everyone else was eating even if it wasnt the main portion of my meal i was still able to eat some of it and i was still down in weight this morning. That was amazing!!! This is such a motivating group!! I just lvoe all of you guys. Keep rocking JUDDD!!!!!

That's so strange that your DD was bothered by Atkins. I was low carb for my pregnancies so maybe my kids were used to it. But Augie's been through several WOE changes in the last year and hasn't been bothered by any of it. Now that he's almost 3 I think I need to find one that will bother him.

I'm thinking of attempting a total fast today. It's 7:30 and today all I've had was 1 T of SF coffeemate in my tea. I was going to go to sleep with the kids at 9:30 to avoid temptation, but dh has downloaded a show that we're both dying to see, so it's possible I'll just be eating dinner at 10 pm. I know I'd make it if I wasn't getting back up.

I've been having a really hard time trying to figure out what to eat on up days, so yesterday I decided I was just going to try to have one *really* yummy thing each up day, even if it was high in calories or carbs or whatever, as long as I could fit it in under my calorie limit. So, yesterday I had the most decadent dinner ever! Years ago dh and I were at a big fancy birthday party for a judge he used to work for where they had these AMAZING grilled cheese sandwiches -- gruyere and cheddar on yummy bread with a smear of marmalade on top. I don't love marmalade, but they were to die for. So my dinner was a gruyere/cheddar grilled cheese on yummy thick french bread, tons of butter, with cherry preserves and a big salad. I was so satisfied that I ended up coming in 300 cals below my daily total even though I usually eat right up to it and still feel hungry.

Oh, My! My eyes are glistening with tears at the mere thought of this delight! This just sounds wonderful. Those two lovely cheeses on fabulous French bread.. but I've never had it with any preserves. I'll certainly have to eat this before too long.

Do any of you sort of get the feeling that we are running a little offshoot of Bon Appetit magazine here on the JUDDD Forum?

I did it again! This is Wed. my cardio plus weights day. I worked out for 2.5 hours. AND I increased my weight on most of my strength moves.

I know I need to get some sleep but I feel so energized. There is something to the endorphin thing and exercise, isn't there?

well shoot now I'm stumped

I love JUDDD because it's so forgiving. I reeeally don't want to back myself into a corner with Atkins.

I'm also trying to do a grain free or mostly grain free/lo carb challenge(for MYself). JUDDD would work well with that.

I don't know if I mentioned yet, but it's been two weeks since I've been on my new meds. I'm still adjusting but it's going to be GOOD!!!

I need a plan to get off this squishy carb trail I've been wandering down. Telling myself "NO," hasn't been good enough.

That is such great news Mayleesa - you must be ecstatic!!!!!

For me - I'm on hols in Austria - so no weighing - and I'll be honest, my DD are hitting 750 - 800 (250 or so in wine ) but still around 35-40%; and my UD are probably closer to FD - but I'm not scared - I feel good!!

Wow Mayleesa, that is wonderful, if that doesn't make you feel better nothing will!

Betty, have you considered writing a menu plan? Just for the first week or so? That way you could plan to allow yourself some good carbs but not head off on a slippery slope? I really think to put yourself through Atkins induction only to move on to JUDDD is a bit pointless... IMHO.

I'm pretty sure I found my magic UD/DD numbers. I'm becoming addicted to the scale after promising myself to weigh only once per week, I've weighed three times this week. Here's the breakdown since Jan. 1st

12/31 261.0 (was at 2345/>500)
1/6 258.6 (now at 2200/>500)
1/8 256.6
1/12 254.0

7 lbs since the 1st, and 4.6 lbs in the last 6 days, since I tweaked my numbers!
I'm doing 2200 UDs and always less than 500 DDs (200-400 usually)!

I'm doing the happy dance!! Or maybe it's the pee-pee dance with all this water I've been drinking. Anyway, I'm dancing!!

I do need a plan though..I'm thinking of setting a 50-75 gram carb limit(and lower than that for non-gym days) and having a free meal once a week.

ya, I can live with that!

I did want to try going gluten free again for awhile..but it's so hard!! *pouts* One thing at a time I suppose. Clean the eats up first and worry about other stuff later. Besides, i've got a lot going on plus still adjusting to new meds, etc.

ok, glad I could get that out.

Thanks for "listening."

Well, I had to remove the notifications of new posts from "instant" to "once per day," since my office kind of expects me to actually, you know, work. I find myself unable to ignore the notification of a new post in the JUDDD forum, so I had to just take them away!

Anyway, after completing most of a two week startup, I am finding an interesting pattern: at the end of the day, I am SO ready for the next day. Matters not whether it's an UD or a DD! At the end of a DD, I am a bit hungry and have my great food all planned out for the next day.....at the end of an UD, I have HAD IT with food and never want to see it again, hahah!

Someone here I read who also had WLS said JUDDD helped her find her pouch again...this is so true. I was all set to eat this great muesli for breakfast, and since it has to be made in advance, I made a huge bowl of it....three bites later and I am feeling just a teensy bit sick. Guess that's the end of that indulgence!

I will say, though....this really seems to suit me. Though I have no great love of the DD's, I do find them manageable!

Haha, I know what you mean by unable to ignore the new posts!! I need to start spending much less time on here and I know it.

I have experienced the same thing with being ready for the next day. After an UD, I'd feel so FULL and spent on carbs, and just ready for the cleansing effect of the DD. And after a DD I was always looking forward to eating all I wanted again
