I'm not sure how much protein is in your choices, but looks like you're not getting very much. I would be starving with those choices. Could you throw in an egg or lean chicken or something?

I'm freakin' excited too! You'll have to tell us all about it.

And isn't it wonderful that you are on a weight loss diet plan, and can use it in a way to arrange for this lovely and fun get together with your friend, and enjoy the undoubtedly lavish meal the chef is going to prepare for you! It's sometimes hard to even believe JUDDD is a diet. Have fun!

I have to say, I would be RAVENOUS on those DD food choices. How about a tilapia fish fillet with a mound of steamed broccoli, a side dish of the mini tomatoes and another side dish of cucumber chunks and onion slivers in that water/vinegar mixture stuff, maybe a slice of 40-calorie bread spread with ff cream cheese or something.

Or a huge, huge salad of mixed lettuces, chopped tomatoes, cukes, and peppers and layered over with slices of chicken breast or lean ham or some tuna and Kraft ff Italian or ranch dressing.

Five hundred calories can be very, very, very little, or it can be amazingly filling and satisfying, but most of the difference is what you chose to eat on the DDs.

And JUDDD success depends on successful Down Days. If you can get this figured out and mastered, the pounds you want to shed will melt away, and you will be able to reach the slim weight you're seeing in your future pretty assuredly.

But it's important to master your Down Days, and that is mostly finding out how to manage your appetite most effectively.

And, after awhile, they really do get surprisingly easy, easy, easy.

Sorry to hear that! I wonder if next DD you attempt eating all protein, like eggs/egg whites, shrimp, chicken, lunchmeat, chicken & veggie soup, etc? I know I'm pretty satisfied when I do that...

I may do this far more often..

I fasted all day, just drinking lots of iced tea.

This evening we went out to a little cafe where a gal we know works Monday evenings and I had a single 8-oz glass of lite beer and a cheeseburger, the *small* one, which she said was 4 oz of hamburger, with toasted bun, lettuce, tomato, slice of onion, and some ketchup and mustard. I have no idea how many DD calories that turned out to be, but I don't think it was probably over about 600 or so, so I'll take it.

Iced tea is remarkably filling. Especially when you drink lots of glasses of it over the day!

It does seem kind of amazing when you think back to how you used to be, doesn't it. I certainly would have had a hard time a few years ago thinking I could be successful fasting every other day, and yet I knew that people around the world had done fasting far more extensive and strict for eons for religious and spiritual reasons, political and personal reasons. At that time, I didn't know how easy it could become. I didn't know how a brain could shut off hunger signaling as well as turn on the signaling of hunger. And now, fasting is easy almost all of the time.

So you had a wonderful 400-calorie DD and were too full to finish your OMM!

Had a pear this afternoon around 3:30.

Had 1/2 protein bar at 7 p.m.

Just polished off a Wendy's jr. bacon cheeseburger and medium fries. Then I had another apple, just in case my gallbladder disagreed with the burger & fries.

I would like to suggest you read the stickies at the top of our JUDDD forum. This should answer most, if not all, of you questions. This is NOT a low carb way of eating, though some still do low carb while doing JUDDD. This is a calorie restricted, calorie counting way of eating.

I am thinking you are not in the right forum if you are doing a Low Carb way of eating. Just a guess, nothing more.

Hey, Willpower! Glad you stopped by our Forum!

OK, DD means Down Day. It is one of the days in the calorie cycling diet designed by Dr. James Johnson called the Johnson Up Day Down Day diet. So that diet is JUDDD.

This plan is based on alternating days of fasting with days of feasting. It sprang from some of the length-of-life studies from these past years showing the extreme healing health benefits of fasting, such as some lowering of blood pressure, some added protection against cancer growth, some healing of our metabolic resistance, lower blood sugars, and many other things.

But few people here actually do this plan seeking those health benefits as much as they are after the remarkable weight loss that happens for us when we find the correct calorie numbers for our DD (Down Day) and especially for our UD (Up Day) and this is the day after each DD in which we can eat anything in the world we want to eat!!!!! Quite a diet, huh? So every other day, we're not on a diet at all. Want wine? OK Want chocolate cake? OK Want a big steak? OK Want bread and cheese? Ok Hard to think of all those foods in the same vein as a weight loss diet, and yet on JUDDD we get to have any foods we want every other day, on our Up Days (UDs). And then we eat around 500 calories on our DDs (Down Days). And then back to another UD. So that is JUDDD.

MUDDD is a different plan that breaks your UD calories and your DD calories and allows you to have some of each in any given diurnal day. The highs and lows of the diet aren't as poles apart because the length of hours on the DD calories is drastically cut from the approximate 36 hours of 500-calorie fasting on JUDDD. Because of how it's set up, each diurnal day's calories are within a few hundred of every other day, and the fasting period is cut down to a much shorter length of time.

Both of these method of cutting overall calories have some benefits over the other and some drawbacks. But anyway, MUDDD is a take-off of JUDDD. LOL

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. And we'd love for you to join us if your reading here makes you feel excited about this plan and it's ability to give you both weight loss and some very, very good eating every other day! We love it!

DD!

B....1 slice lcal bread with 1 serving egg beaters
L.....1 bagel thin, toasted with 1 tbs natural peanut butter and 1 tbs SF strawberry jam
D.....Spicy Rice Cake Soup with 1 link chicken sausage
S.... 1 serving Nip Cheese Cheddar Cheese Mini Baked Cheese Crackers (I just can't resist these sometimes, even though I KNOW they are not the best choice for a "good" food ), 1 Caramel Nip hard candy, half and half in my tea and coffee throughout the day, and 3 SF gerkins (0 cal! )

Total Calories Today: 691

My food journal is in my signature and anyone is welcome to look at it. Note: I only count calories on my DDs now.
