WOE: Lowish carb (formerly on Protein Power)
338 / 1690 according to the JUDD website. But I'm doing 450-500 on DDs due to having diabetes and needing a bit more food in me, so have reduced UDs to 1600 to balance things out. I'm new so haven't weighed yet to see if this will work.

I'm going with 600 cal dd's and 3000 cal up's. The calculator actually give me higher numbers, but I'm trying these to start out.

Thanks for the Avatar compliments, you guys!! That picture is when I was at my 140 or so. I need a new picture with my now weight of 133/134!

I only start to eat on my DDs when I get REALLY hungry or if I start to get a headache. Most days it's about Lunch time (1:00 pm or so). Once I start to eat I WANT to eat, but if I hold off I'm just not hungry. There is not a breakfast/lunch/dinner time for Beeb, she just wings it as the hunger comes and it has worked well for me this way to keep me in my calories for the DDs. I actually have been eating only 2 meals: A small lunch and a larger dinner. It also helps me to divide up my calories by meals; So much for lunch, so much for dinner, so much for snacks. This keeps me on track with my calories and the food choices I make.

That's a good idea - I find that when I start eating, especially if i'm trying to fast, I wind up hungrier. I will try that tomorrow!

I also hold off as long as I can on eating on DD. I also try to save plenty of calories for evening so I don't have to go to bed hungry.

Sipping on hot drinks all day seems to help - hot coffee, tea, broth.

3000? Are you making sure you're putting in pounds and not kilos into the weight part? 3000 seems really high, to me.

I'd been reading and following the calorie restriction/length-of-life studies & articles for several years and, DUH.. didn't consider how I might be able to use that in my own life. Glad I finally caught on.

For much of my years I've been a fairly big eater for my size, and previously.. without weight gain. At mid-life that all changed, metabolism crashed and burned, and something in the workings broke.

By doing JUDDD and embracing the health benefits of fasting in this alternating manner, I knew I could eat more on the opposing Up Day, so at least not be hungering on those days, but even better...

By pushing the UD calorie ceiling as high as possible while still losing weight, I was able to get my old and very sluggish metabolism running along at a much better pace! I'm now eating in a *range* of 500 to 700 on DDs and about 2200 to 2800 on UDs. And sometimes much lower or higher, depending on how the day is going. LOL

What I really had to resist was the temptation to lower my UD calories in order to lose weight faster. That old diet mindset kept insisting that if I could lose decently at the present calorie level, I would lose even faster if I lowered the cals. And I may have.. for a few weeks or months.. until my brain slowed my metabolism down even more to compensate for all those unending days of lowered calorie consumption.

So I bit the bullet and worked on pounding the UD calories up against my ceiling set at weight LOSS level, and gradually that ceiling could go higher and higher while weight loss was still possible. So my average daily calorie consumption has been increased over the time I've been doing JUDDD by several hundred calories daily (average), and I'm really thinking it was all so very worth it.

I didn't like the fasting to begin with, and often couldn't keep my days low enough, but gradually I got used to it and got to relish the DDs almost as much as the feasting days.

Ahhhhhhhhhh........ (big happy sigh)........ Life is good.
I am hoping that I can accomplish this too Pat. I have now reached my goal and my UD/DD come in at around 600/1400. Not my plan.

I shall keep my DDs as low as I can and keep pushing those UD cals as high as I can.

DD 330

but I usually go DD 330 or a little less & UD 1000 - 1200. Slow but steady losses; as I approach goal I intend to raise my UD ceiling as far as possible without gaining.

Even almost 2 months into the plan, I still hesitate on higher calorie amounts. Years of programming I guess.

Do you ever wonder what would happen if you kept DDs at 330, but went up to 1600-1700 on UDs? From what I just read, that might speed things up, not slow them down?

Yes, I'm curious about a higher UD but its taken me years to get this close to goal & I just want so badly to see that number its easier to continue on a slow downward trend than risk a gain.

Since I'm not hungry even on the DD's I figure I can wait to lose 9 more pounds before I chance gaining a few lbs, even if it is only water weight. Probably not real "JUDDD" thinking, but its me.

I am looking forward to maintenance & lifetime living with Juddd as much for the health benefits as anything else. I just want to call "GOAL!" sometime soon.

It's funny you are saying this. Chona is having problems with not losing, just maintaining and I just brainstormed with her and we are thinking she is NOT eating enough on her UDs and will be trying different numbers for the next week to see what will happen. At my suggestion she is raising her DD calories by 50 and her UD calories by 150. This may not seem like much but she is a little lady and only needs to lose another 5 pounds to get to her idea goal weight she has set.

I really believe this is one WOE that eating MORE, not less turns on that JUDDD magic, as I call it. Just my opinion, nothing more.

WOE: Whatever plan keeps me around 150 lbs!
2314/463

I just re-did them with my new and improved, slightly lower weight.

This morning I decided to lower my UD to 2200 and keep my DD at 500. I never, ever hit 500 on a DD (usually between 300-400). The only time I went over UD limit at all was on Christmas day and that week I gained 0.8 lbs, so I'm sure that's what did it! Lots of people here are able to go over occassionally without any gains or stalls, but I'm still figuring out what works for me!

I am also beginning to incorporate exercise, shooting for 3 times per week and a minimum of 30 minutes.

I always "intended" to exercise on LC, but it was really hard. In the past week, I've exercised 3 times on JUDDD. The time I exercised on a DD, my net calories equaled 10. Tomorrow is a DD and I'm taking DD rollerskating for 2 hours. Not that we'll be skating the entire 2 hours, but if I can get moving for an hour or so, I'll be super-stoked.

After my weight loss came to a grinding hault I needed to figure out why. Based on my food journal it appears eating over 1600 calories on my UD is not a good thing. Plus all the holiday events had me doing too many MD.

RESET!

1500/1600 - UD with alternating 500/600 - DD

NO MD unless ABSOLUTELY necessary.

I know this sounds a bit low, but I was losing consistently with those numbers. Yes there was an occasional UD that was higher and that still might happen, but for now this is where I'm at.

My calculated numbers are 500/2300, but I didn't really lose on that the first month. I was still playing around with adding back carbs, too, so that could be part of it.

My calculated numbers for my goal weight of 150 (120 pounds from where I am) is 333/1600.

So I basically took a daily intake number that I knew would help me lose, 1200/day, and divided that among DD and UD. I now aim for 600/1800, with Friday being a more free day (because I usually plan to have a couple drinks).

It's less than the original calculated amount which didn't seem to work, but something that is still do-able for me.

Most of us are pretty convinced that if we don't have too much to lose to reach goal, the JUDDD Calorie Calculator UD number is pretty good, but if we are still heavier at the present, that calculator is far too generous in the calories it gives us. So then we cut out a bunch of calories, since we know they were just being based on excess body fat weight anyway. Why would we want to eat extra calories to maintain that? We wouldn't!

Looks like your numbers are set pretty well. Hope you lose well!
