Goal for January, my b-day month, is 115. I have been bouncing up and down the same step for a month and have yet to break into the teens. Same step. Thanks to Beeb, I am working on adjusting my calories to jump start and break the plateau.
It's a big goal since I am entrenched five pounds above it.
Sigh.

January 2012 -

Week One
241.2lbs Jan 01 - Sun - UD
239.6lbs Jan 02 - Mon - DD
239.4lbs Jan 03 - Tue - UD
239.2lbs Jan 04 - Wed - MD (have to make Friday an UD)
241.4lbs Jan 05 - Thurs - MD
243.8lbs Jan 06 - Fri - UD
240.2lbs Jan 07 - Sat - UD

Well, the only thing I can say for this week is that I "mixed it up". Meaning I didn't eat the same calories or carbs any day during the week. But I found following my UD/DD rotation to be an utter ******ny! I didn't do it. Don't know why but could NOT make myself!

However, I did end up within my goal window of 240lbs +/- 10lbs! Wooohooo! So this week, since I only have 13 treatments left to go, I am going to start back with a goal to lose weight. The reality is very SLIM that I will lose more than 10% of my body weight by the time I finish rads and that is their measure of safety. 10% of body weight. So beginning tomorrow, I will start a weight loss week! Where my new goal will be to lose whatever weight comes from eating at the 2 week JUDDD induction levels.

Really, really hungry today. Used to eating breakfast, but don't want to use up all of my calories before evening which is usually rough for me if I do that especially since it is Saturday. Had a cup of coffee and water.
So think I will go drink more water, crystal light and coffee and then have a large salad for lunch. Do most of you save your calories for later in the day and get along better on DD's?
Thanks,
Hope

Hi Hope! That is exactly what I do. I didn't start out doing that, though. In the beginning I used to eat some lunch and a snack and then two small dinners to stay under 500 calories. I remember reading someone say that they would just fast all day and then eat a more "normal" dinner, and I remember thinking that I would never be able to do that. But, the more I do this, the more naturally my hunger on DDs is less.

It's kinda like when I was in college and we girls would go for a night out...you never wanted to make that first trip to the ladies room, because after that you'd need to pee all night long. We would call it "breaking the seal." Once you hit the loo and peed, you had to go all the time. The longer you waited to go that first time, the fewer trips you would need to make. I find that if I eat early on a DD, the hungrier I will be and the more I'll want to eat. The longer I wait before "breaking the seal" on my hunger on a DD, the longer I can go without eating. I don't know if that makes sense, but it's the best way I can explain how it seems to work for me.

I find it (usually) no big deal to just have coffee for brekkie, some bouillon for lunch, and then a decent dinner. The one thing I still do sometimes if I am not ready to eat dinner yet but feel hungry is to have a diet hot cocoa...for 25-30 calories, it's an easy way to keep hunger at bay.

It doesn't always melt off fast for us, but I told myself if I could just average a pound a week, that would be 52 pounds a year, and that amount would be very noticeable. Well, it turned out to average better than that.

And when I realized that the weight loss was coming from just *dieting* for half of the days of the month, and on the other half of the month I wasn't dieting at all and was, in fact, eating very, very, very WELL... it almost seems amazing that I lost weight at all.

I think you're doing well. Warmest regards and wishes for continued success!

I'm two weeks plus a few days into JUDDing. I did not think I was losing because of the daily up and down bounce on my scale. Yesterday someone suggested averaging weight for the week. The second week I had two "new low" days and that brings the average for the week down. Meaning I DID lose! Yay!

I started a bit over my stats, but I'm getting back now. And, I've been doing LC since August 1 so my body is getting used to eating carbs now.

Here's what's happening on my scale:

December 22, 2011 (Day 1 JUDD) 201.4

December 28, 2011 (Day 7 JUDD) 201.6 +.2

January 4, 2012 (Day 14 JUDD) 200.2 -1.4

January 8, 2012 (Day 18 JUDD) 200 -1.6 total since day one.

I wonder if you haven't lost even more body fat than your figures show.

If you have been eating at a lower carb level since August, and have been *getting used to eating carbs* again since starting JUDDD for just over two weeks, my thought is that you are regaining water weight from the increase in carbohydrate in your diet. At the same time you are losing body fat from your JUDDDing. And so the scale is showing a smaller weight loss overall, as fat loss and water weight gain cancel each other out, but in reality, you've really lost a nice amount of body fat.

Pat:

You are sooooooo right! I have been taking my measurements on a regular basis. And, I've been "shopping in my closet" and fitting into old skinny clothes. Also went shopping and bought new skinny jeans! (Skinny for me right now is size 12).

Inches seem to be melting away! So I know the fat is going, going, going. I read a Doctor's report about how our muscles and tissues in the body can hold on to water after eating high volume foods, like vegetables and grains. And, of course, my body really sucks up water and keeps it for days when I eat anything salty.

However, the doc said that the fat burning and melting goes on even during water retention. That's why clothing gets smaller despite the overall scale number not going down.

I have a Tanita body monitor scale and it is showing my fat% going down and hydration going up.

On August 1st I was wearing a very tight size 18 jeans. That's when I started LC WOE. I'm tracking calories/points on the Weight Watchers site.

When I started JUDD two weeks ago, I was wearing size 14 jeans( a bit loose, but not much). After these 2 JUDD weeks, I'm comfortably fitting into 12s! I went shopping and bought some new ones, too! So cute!

I already gave away all my 14's (and 16's and 18's but today I found some 16 & 18 dress pants -- getting rid of those ASAP!) because I just don't want to wear baggy jeans and have "room to grow". lol.

Gotta say, Pat, I've been reading your encouraging posts especially on the Weight Management thread. You are helping me so much with all the advice you give to everyone, including me! Keep it coming as I'm soaking it all in. Love it!

I'm just happy when folks do well on this plan, as I think it is such a lovely way to fast for the health benefits (a concept pretty foreign in America LOL) and then enjoy the delight of fine foods too, and by working out the balance of your calories, manage to lose weight, and then maintain a nice weight loss.

I love that you have already lost enough to be in 12's! Have you stopped to wonder what your size is going to be by this coming summer? What clothing you will be wearing? You're probably going to have to go out and do some serious shopping for small sizes.

I love that you have already lost enough to be in 12's! Have you stopped to wonder what your size is going to be by this coming summer? What clothing you will be wearing? You're probably going to have to go out and do some serious shopping for small sizes.
Love your attitude! It's because you have done so well and obviously enjoy this WOE. Now you are preachin' the gospel of JUDD.

That's one chore I won't mind at all. Shopping for smaller clothes!

Hi everyone,

just one question - tom today and was originally planning on weighing in tomorrow morning (DD today), but not sure if I should wait til tom is done (I tend to bloat and retain a lot of liquid) as I don't want to get disheartened if results look bleak.

Are your results usually affected during tom?

Thanks

1/2 238.6 UD
1/3 238.2 DD
1/4 236.6 UD
1/5 238.4 UD
1/6 238.4 DD
1/7 236.0 UD
1/8 237.2 Down
1/9 235.8 Up

So from UD 1/2 to UP 1/9, my first full week on JUDDD, I am down 2.8 lbs. Wow. And I had a big mint chip waffle cone. And lots of other "forbidden" food. Woot!
