Starting out loss trends?
When first starting JUDDD what did you usually find was the usual trend for your gain or loss? Does it stabilize after awhile into a pattern?
I am only on day 4 so I am just trying to keep open that I may gain before going back down, especially since I am no longer counting carbs.
I say I am in maintenance BUT I guess that depends on the # on the scale that day LOL.
Ideally I would like to stay between 118 and 120 be my max (do I need more of a spread there?)
Right now the plan is 500-600 DD and 1600 UD

I had a lot of bouncing around even in the first week. I started in October. Back then, and now, I'm usually up after an UD and down after a DD. My maintenance window is 3 pounds. I think 2 pounds is too small because if you're like me, you'll be popping out of that window a lot. For the past month, my weight has gone up and down about 3 pounds. With the holidays, I have managed around 113-116. Maybe yours should be 117-120? Or 116-120 if you like even numbers?
If your upper range is 120, is that the highest number you want to see after an up day or after a down day? You'll need to decide on that, too! Figuring out how to maintain is just about as hard as figuring out how to lose!
Almost two months on JUDDD now, and I honestly didn't start to lose (where the new low weights would actually stick, if you know what I mean) until well after 2.5 weeks, closer to 3 weeks even. I just made an Excel graph so I could see for myself since I'm more of a visual person. I'll post here to share so people can see that even if you don't lose for 2+ weeks, don't get discouraged. If I had given up after 2 weeks, I would've ended up at the same exact weight I started out with as opposed to the 8 lbs (actually it's 9 lbs by now) I have now lost.
I'm on a DD today so my 'official' weigh-in will be either tomorrow or Sunday but it is reassuring to know that this happens even if it doesn mean that I need longer than 2 weeks for the induction effect to kick in.
Some people lose quickly from the beginning doing JUDDD, but there are also a lot of us whose bodies seem to need some adjusting to this new WOE before things start kicking in. Hang in there, and definitely avoid stepping on the scale too much if it discourages you. You'll see the losses you want once the JUDDD magic kicks in. :up:

The bouncing scale is a part of JUDDD and I give myself at least a 3 pound +/- after every UD. In the beginning I would see a loss and then a gain, a loss and then a gain BUT after the first several UDs and DDs the losses became more than just what I had gained from my UDs. A good DD always took the gain PLUS took some of it's other weight buddies with it!
This is the way of JUDDD and this thread maybe of some help and info for those who struggle with the :jumpjoy: scale!
Don't fret about the gain after adding carbs back in. I was VLC when I started JUDDD and because it was my birthday weekend and halloween I decided to just bite the bullet and have the carbs I would be eating if I ate what I wanted to eat. I put on 3.3lbs overnight doing that ... remember it is just water weight from your glycogen stores refilling ... ITS NOT FAT! While going through my numbers I also noticed that I lost more weight when I made sure to hit my UD calories numbers. I try to hit between 1800 - 1850 on UDs. Please disregard my DD numbers as I fast from 7:30pm UD to 8pm DD as it just works better for me personally.
There is a lot of scale number bouncing and that is normal even for people who aren't trying to lose weight. I noticed on my graphs that my bounce is even more since I have gone to fasting on DDs than it was when I tried to have 500 cals. Makes me think that the difference is in direct correlation to the calorie spread between UDs and DDs???

If I had let that water weight gain stop me I'd never be where I am now .... just 2 lbs from my goal!
Thank everyone, all great advice and it is nice hearing so far my JUDDD path is the norm. Julie, I would prefer 120 to be the max I see after a UD.
I so appreciate this thread because I finished week 2 yesterday (on an UD) and I weighed exactly the same as the day I started! This was after weighing 2.6 lbs less at the end of the 1st week.
I know that scale bouncing is normal and I'm not too alarmed, but still, it's irritating!
In my case, in addition to the normalness of bouncing, I can think of a couple other reasons for water retention (b/c that's what I think it is):
I started walking (for exercise) again after not walking for 3 weeks due to a virus.
I seem to have a reprisal of the virus and have some body aches.
I am getting my period...today!
I haven't been taking my medicine for insulin resistance/prediabetes b/c we're at the end of our insurance cycle and I hit my limit on what they'd cover and so need to wait for a refill until January. I think this is probably major - not taking this, plus eating a few more carbs than normal is probably screwing up my metabolism.
So I'm sure those 4 things haven't helped at all! Still, it's good to come to this site and see a thread on the exact same problem I need help with!
Dr. J only recommends weighing after a dd. What I do is Thurs or Friday is my official day depending on my rotation that week. Most times you will be up after a UD due to water gain.
Oh. That makes sense. Well in that case I am only up .6 at the end of week 2 if I consider my weight this a.m. So -2 in 2 weeks. But like I said, I probably have a lot going on, PLUS all the stuff you guys are talking about. I am not panicked...yet. Still, I was hoping for a decent loss in month 1. 7 lbs was my very secret goal!
Maybe I'll make it - it means I have 2 weeks to lose 5 more lbs. Although one week is THIS week, where I'm having 2 UDs in a row, then a MD. So I'll be a little thrown off.
Who knows what'll happen? In any case, it's really helpful to read what you all write!

week 4: 4.6 (-11.6 lbs Oct 11-Nov 8)
week 5: 0.6 (277.2)
week 6: 0.6 (276.6)

week 9: 278.4
week 10: 273.6
week 11: 274.6
As you can see, an amazing first month followed by lots of meh.
But then again...17 lbs lost in 2-1/2 months still works out to 7 lbs/month!
Weeks 5-9 were very frustrating, but things seem to be getting better again!
Like a lot of us here I hop on the scales every day even though Dr. Johnson says
just weigh once a week first thing in the morning after going to the bathroom. But
I ofton have trouble following Dr's orders like my Dr. wants me to eat a good healthy
diet low in saturated fat and no more than 2 eggs per week. Some how I haven't been
able to follow his subjestions :-)
Again, thanks for all the feedback. I had a big drop today, back to the # I was when going off HCG. I just started TOM so I am not sure if it is that or JUDDD, guess we will see how things going the next week. Today is one week on JUDDD for me :)
