Using My DD Calories NOT Wisely!
I just realized I use from 60 to 100 calories on my DDs for half and half in my coffee/tea! At 20 cals a tbs (all that I ever use) it's adding up, especially if I'm cold and am drinking a lot of hot beverages that day!
![]() This is really to me and I'm going to start to drink at least half the amount to give myself extra calories to play with in food.Had my first cup of black coffee today and it was pretty darn good! This could work on DDs and on UDs I'll have it with half and half again. Cutting this out for my DDs will give me some more calories for "real" food, like veggies or some added protein! ![]()

It took me a while to get used to unsweetened vanilla almond milk, but at just 35 calories a cup, I can enjoy it in my coffee all day

I use a lot of the different flavors of Torani in my coffee, with no cream. Still tastes pretty good!

I love the sugar free coffee creamer. I found the holiday peppermint for 15 calories a tablespoon.

I drink my coffee black anyway so that's no problem. Last night I was way under calories (on a DD even) and thought, hmm, I could have a glass of wine. Then I decided those would be totally wasted calories, so I did not partake. It would have been totally easy though.

Another black coffee drinker here. I rarely add cream or flavor. I never counted the calories in black coffee either, just considered it "free" calories

I also drink my coffee black, but didn't in the past.
I had a stay in the hospital many years ago, and when I was served my dinner, they forgot the cream for my coffee. Well, they never did get it to me, and I wanted my coffee, so I drank it black, and was delightfully surprised that I was able to drink and enjoy it. My dh also drinks his black after years of having cream & sugar. Yea, Linda, every calorie counts for our precious few on DDs. |

I am a black coffee drinker too! On UDs I do add a little fat free french vanilla cream for a treat! But I really do prefer my coffee black!

I have started using the fat free half and half. I have one cup at home before work with one tablespoon of cream, then I stop at Duncan donuts on the way to work and get a large coffee with a turbo shot and some kind of flavor. I have them give me 4 creamer on the side. They are the Borden creamers and are 10 cals a piece, so I have 50 cals of cream per day. I should cut that down but it's hard. It might make a difference. You guys are making me think!

I have only had 3 cups of coffee/tea today and only 3 TBS of half and half, but I still used 60 calories for those 3 TBS. Even using FF half and half I'm using 20 calories each time because I use the full serving of 2 TBS to get my beverage light enough to enjoy.
I have actually cut my calories back today from the half and half by 40 but I'm still not liking 60 calories alone for half and half. I think I'm going black and I may never go back (at least on my DDs)!! ![]() |

I wish I could drink my coffee black! Every morning I have 2 cups with 2 TBS each of SF creamer - 60 calories/day. Sometimes on UDs I have a third cup - 90 calories.

Drinking black coffee...hmm...can't bring myself to do it just yet. Though it would allow me my coffee on DDs! I just don't like the taste...
I will do it when I HAVE to, though. When I was in Japan, we took an overnight ferry from one 'island' to another. On the ferry, you sleep in a communal sleeping room, on the floor with a blanket and a little foam square for a pillow (it is very economical LOL!). I slept maybe an hour!! I was uncomfortable and the motion of the ferry (and noises it made) kept waking me. So when we got to Kyushu, and drove to see a volcanic area, I was dead on my feet...In Japan there are vending machines everywhere (so nice!). It was hard, however, to find a drink without sugar (that DID have caffeine!). THe only thing I could find were little cans of black coffee. To my surprise they came out of the machine WARM!! So cool!! Anyhow, that is the last time I had black coffee...(i choked it down, but did not like it!).

For me, 3-4 cups of good coffee, with 30 cals coffee mate powder in each is what help me to have easy, hunger free DD's! It IS a lot of cals, out of 600 or so, but they help meglide through the day, and start eating at 5 or 6pm. Without my White coffee ( I cant stand it black!) I get the awful munchies earlier on, and my DD's are so much harder!
It has taken about 3 months to find what works for me for an easy DD, now I am rockin them! We are all different though, and it is fascinating to see how all ourdifferent methods work! Hugs Jo X

I don't do black coffee - but then I don't do coffee - unless it is frothy and/or from a shop!!!
At home - I drink tea with skimmed milk (about 17 cals) - or make a frothy coffee with skimmed milk - 100ml is enough and that's 34 cals - but because it is frothy (with espresso) - it feels like a real indulgence. Out I will often allow myself 1 or 2 skinny flat whites - they come in at 77 cals each - but they are like a meal!! |

Do remember that cream or half&half calories aren't wasted. Fat is essential, and it's a great way to help stay full on DD (or any days). If you feel happy on your DD with some cream or half&half, why change what's working?

Ditto! I am surprised that so many of you are trying to cut down on these calories! I think they are well used calories because they suppress my appetite for real food for hours and hours on down days!

I tried drinking black coffee today (DD) and one mug has kept me quite happy all day. I'd forgotten that it does seem to be an appetite suppressant for me (and only black coffee, not coffee with cream...

Lol...I'm so silly. I read the title of this thread and was ready to jump in and commiserate about how I wasted 145 of my precious DD calories on a cookie and peppermint bark!
![]() As for the coffee...I can't do black. I have one large every DD made with 3 Tbls SF creamer and a little extra splenda (<50 cal). I sip on it all morning and it keeps me plenty satisfied until I have my 15-cal broth for lunch. Like Joedi, I have discovered that I do best on DDs when I don't eat until dinner. And then I can have a huge dinner and feel quite happy.

just a thought--even tho JUDDD is about a specific number of calories on DD's, the intermittent fasting gurus don't believe heavy cream interrupts the fast as there is no impact on insulin--so many of those folks don't count coffee with cream towards "food intake." ymmv.
