Christmas Eve/Day foods and plans to stay ON plan?
We always have snacky foods Christmas Eve and that's a DD for me.
I have it planned out so I'm about 550 calories for the day, which is acceptable to me (100 cals of that is broth, coffee and almond milk to get me through most of the day).
1 deviled egg made with light mayo: 90 calories
1oz light sharp cheddar (cabot) : 70 calories
17 slices hormel turkey pepperoni: 73 calories- crisped in the microwave
2T walden farms ranch: 0 cals
5 large pimento stuffed green olives: 25 calories
1 medium green bell pepper cut into strips: 30 cals
1 cup sliced cucumber: 20 cals
4oz boiled shrimp: 120 cals
2T walden farms catsup w/1tsp spicy brown mustard, squeeze chili sauce and a few drops soy sauce to serve as dipping sauce (5 cals)
Wow.. typing it out, it looks like a lot of food for just 433 cals! May have another deviled egg lol.
Christmas Day is an UP day, and I don't think I'll have any problems staying within my calories. Sodium (ham!) may be another issue!
My plan for staying on-plan is this:
12/23: Holiday luncheon at work. Making it a MD. Breakfast will be coffee, lunch will be small portions of only things I really want, dinner will be cabbage/cheese stir fry. No snacking. (Goal: <1000 cal)
12/24: Traditional Christmas Eve party at our house. This is an UD. Going to try my best to track my calories diligently and reach my ceiling w/out going over (by much). Not drinking, so I should be able to do fine. (Goal: 1850-2000 cal)
12/25: Chrstmas...traditional grazing at my parents' house and more grazing at mine. Going to be realistic and make it a MD. I will have a piece of my mom's Christmas sticky rolls:yummy: for sure...other nibbles will be only of what I REALLY want, NOT just eating them because they are there. (Goal: 1000 cal)
12/26: Back on track with a DD. (Goal: <500 cal) Phew!!
I just want to say to any of our newer BUDDDs, that I am almost three months on JUDDD now so, though I'm not close to goal, I am using these MDs to help me stay on track and not just throw in the towel by trying for DDs on days I know I'll be too tempted. This week being the exception, I otherwise do a straight UD/DD rotation. At one point I was using MDs, but decided that by doing that I was shorting myself two-plus DDs every month.Not what I wanted!
The reason I say all this is because I don't want people thinking I do MDs all the time like this and to follow that lead. I believe in JUDDD as Dr. J suggests...UD/DD, lather, rinse, repeat.

Thursday 12/22 will be a MD
Friday 12/23 will be another DD
Saturday 12/24 I'm shooting for another MD, but it may turn into an UD! Christmas Eve usually is fish, but not this year......just too much work for Mama Leoni here. :hyst: Snacks, mostly!
Sunday 12/25 UD with an Italian dinner of homemade Italian wedding soup, lasagna, stuffed shells, crisp garlic bread; then ham with string beans almondine, and a few other veggies.
Desserts will be: cheesecake, home made pizzelles, coconut butter balls, almond cookies, peanut butter cookies, and a birthday cake for Jesus!!!
12/26 back to DD!!
I'm barely in week two, so I will be keeping to my normal UD/DD schedule. Luckily, when I started I planned it out so that Christmas day is an UD as well as New Year's eve. No reason to stray . . . :)
12/23 - DD. I'll be at MiL's for most of the day so I hope I can pull this off.
12/24 - MD.
12/25 - UD.
Then back to my usual rotation until next weekend, when we'll be out of town again for a New Years Eve party.
12/30 -- DD. I hope. It will be a challenge.
12/31 -- UD.
1/1 -- Probably a MD, depending on when we leave.
We're doing something different and having Izakaya foods for Christmas day this year. It's sort of like Japanese-style tapas. I may have one glass of wine, not sure yet. It's an UD for me, and I don't anticipate going over my calories since I'll be eating light during the day and looking forward to the dinner.
We're spending New Year's Eve at a French restaurant this year, and I will definitely be having champagne at midnight to ring in the new year. It's a good sized prix fixe menu that I've checked out ahead of time and picked what I can eat already, so it's likely I'll go over my calories that day, hopefully not by too much though.
I'm also sticking to my normal UD/DD rotation since those are the only two days we're planning on celebrating.
Dottie, that menu looks :yummy: and VERY creative and doable!! It's got you eating a little bit of everything you seem to want and THAT is always a good way of eating to me!! :high5:
I'm doing something that is very strange to me: Throwing 3 MDs in next week starting on Christmas day to get my rotation to having an UD on Wednesday when I visit NYC to see Chona :jumpjoy: and to having New Years Eve an UD.
To do this I had to do this rotation:
Dec. 24....UD/FD (big food day for this Italian lady)
Dec. 25....MD (no more than 1100 cals, aiming for less)
Dec 27....MD (same as last MD)
Dec 28....UD (will count calories today, no FD until the New Year's Eve)
Dec 30....MD (same as last MD)
I have only done one MD since I started on Aug 1 so for me this is just a :stars: schedule coming up. Being in maintenance I feel I can do this and I will stick to about 1100 calories on those MD, or less and after New Years Eve I will go right back to my regular UD/DD rotation. I just find it easier and much more simple to have the same calories up and down for the week. MDs are a necessity at times, but is not one I really like. I just like the regularity of my UD/DD schedule I have been following from the beginning. :dunno::)
12/21-MD-would have been an UD but I'm trying to even out my calories.
12/23 UD- no plans
12/24 DD BUT we are only having dinner at my inlaws and I know dinner will be fish and veggies so not too bad. I am hoping to just use all my DD calories for dinner only
12/25 UD but am planning to not count, just not go crazy
That looks like a good plan, oneoftwo, especially with you being in maintenance. :)
I'm thrilled to be maintaining through all the goodies, baking, tasting, etc that go on during the holidays!
Food - hmmmmm - oh well it is Christmas!!!
23/12 = UD
24/12 = MD - very low cal throughout the day - then ham and veggies for dinner (aiming for around 750 cals (less than 40% - nearer 35% - so still kind of a DD)
25/12 = FD
26/12 = MD breakfast (to deal with hangover!!, if there is one!) low cal through the rest of the day until dinner, which is a roast rib of beef and all the trimmings - aiming for 1300 (60% of cals)
27/12 = UD
back to normal (ish)
My plan is no plan for Christmas Eve/Day (well perhaps not go crazy)

my plans are to have upday on the eve and DD on the day. I have to work christmas anyway so it just worked out. Now I need to stay away from goodies at wk!!

UD dinner (Feast of the Seven Fishes w/my neighbors)
UD breakfast (or maybe just coffee & a snack)
UD lunch/early dinner (chiles rellenos, I believe I'll be making! or a tamal casserole)
DD dinner (or no dinner...ha ha!)

I'm not gonna sweat it if I end up eating something later on Christmas...will probably go back to my neighbor's with a bottle of wine and I'm really hoping there will be some pie or something around! :D
Mine is gonna be about normal just more carbs. Im doing DD friday, MD sat, UD sun and then back to normal on monday with a DD. Sat getting together with family to exchange gifts and doing a subway platter and other fonger foods. Then sunday at home traditional lunch, turkey, ham, green bean casserole, dressing, broccoli and cheese, mashed potatoes, corn, sweet potatoes, cheese cake, pecan pie, banana nut bread. Good lord. I wont be eating all of that but it will gey eaten. Im gonna make me a low carb pimpkin pie and a low carb cheesecake. Im just gonna be doing my first FD i think. Im not even gonna worry aboit it. I wish i would hit my goal by christmas tho. I was hoping to be 240 but im at 242 right now so i dont know if it will happen.
I am travelling to Scotland to spend Xmas with my family.
So 23rd DD/MD ( will be in car for a good 4 hours!
24th/25th FD - will be eating out both days, so no counting!
26th - travelling back home, and will be so full it will b an easy DD!
As I am maintaining I have been doing DD/FD rotations, but this week I am doing my previous DD/UD rotation, in preparation for the weekend excesses!
